So entrepreneur do you like omelette’s?
And can you even cook an omelette?
BTW, did you know (according to a recent Google search), there are (believe it or not), a staggering 192 different types of omelettes that you can enjoy?
Did you know that? (Me either!) Do you even care?
But here’s the thing. You might cook a French Potato omelet or a German omelette with bacon (who knew?) Or you might decide to go with a Kale omelette. (No clue!)
So why all this talk and fuss about omelette’s of any kind? And far more importantly, whether you enjoy omelette’s or not.
How the heck does understanding how to cook one, help you and I become more successful online marketers?
At first blush I grant you, it may seem like a bit of a stretch, but like most things in life.
Once you get past the surface, a whole new level of understanding and appreciation can often be gained, if you’re open to it. Don’t you agree?
So How The Heck Does Understanding How To Make An Omelette Make You A Better Internet Marketer?
Okay, so you’re not really into omelettes (per se), and you don’t really care that there are at least 192 different variations of that classic. So what, right?
What does any of this trivia have to do with you, and more importantly, how can understanding any of this possibly make you a more successful Internet marketer?
Fair enough. That said. Let’s suppose that you were entertaining guest and you’ve got a house of 15 people.
Relatives and in laws temporarily visiting during the holidays. And you decide to cook a really big breakfast that includes an omelette.
How Will You Know For Sure If You’re Not Constantly Monitoring And Tweaking!
So you get the skillet nice and hot and you’ve got the coffee brewing and the toast going etc. And you take 20 farm fresh eggs and on your way over to the skillet, you accidentally drop and crack three eggs on the floor. (Your bad!)
But you go ahead and make the omelette with the remaining 17 eggs. Now here’s the $64K dollar question? (So please pay close attention!)
Do you think any of your relatives that are enjoying your wonderful tasting omelette, (honestly) has any idea that you dropped three of the original 20 eggs and the omelette was actually made with just 17 eggs instead of the original 20?
Of course not! So what does this rather odd analogy possibly have anything to do with you successfully marketing (on or) offline? Great question.
Why It’s So Critically Important That You Know Your Numbers?
Let’s suppose you decide to attempt your very first Pay Per Click (PPC) ad campaign.
And you’re so excited!Well, my question to you Einstein is this.
If you don’t (or haven’t yet) tracked your total gross revenue for your site for the past month.
(Basically the last 30 days) and you don’t know how many total unique visitors you’ve had in that same time period?
How the heck can you possibly know, (or have any realistic idea) how much each visitor is worth to you.
And therefore how much you can actually afford to pay per click to get them to your site for the very first time? Huh?
You’ve Gotta Track And Measure Your Businesses Most On Or Offline Vital Stats!
Right! Otherwise, just like the relatives enjoying your rather tasty Kale omelette, they have no clue how many eggs were actually used! Correct?
So let’s say (just for the sake of example), your site grossed $5,458.67 in the last 30 days. (The actual amount is irrelevant here, it’s the overall concept you’ve got to get!)
And let’s also say that in the last 30 days you’ve had a grand total of 6,300 unique visitors. (Now entrepreneur you’re starting to get somewhere!)
So you divide your total gross revenue over the last 30 days by your total number of unique visitors and guess what? You now have a realistic idea of what each individual one time visitor is worth to you!) (Financially speaking of course!)
Are You Finally Ready To Take A Giant Step Ahead Of The Pack!
So let’s do the math and have a look shall we? ($5,458.67 divided by 6,300 total unique visitors = 0.8664 or 87 cents as a practical matter. So based on that math entrepreneur, does it really make sense for you to be bidding a $1.25 per click? Or higher!
You see and hopefully appreciate the overall point right? Basically, (in this particular example only) any bid over $.87 cents means you’re losing money!
Because your current visitor value (V V) doesn’t support it!You get that right? So just like the relatives that have no clue how many actual eggs it took to make that tasty omelette, they’re currently enjoying. And complimenting you on!
If you’re not carefully monitoring and tracking your pertinent numbers.
You really have no clue how much you can realistically afford to pay to get a unique first time visitor to your site, correct? So you don’t know how much or how little you should actually be bidding!
Knowing And Understanding Your Businesses Specific Numbers!(Definitely Helps You Gain An Edge!)
So that my friend is why and how understanding how to make a tasty omelette can and will make you and I much better, and far more successful on or offline marketers! Don’t you agree?

I love you analogy!
I don’t make omelets, but my husband does, and since he never uses a recipe, they’re never the same twice. But they’re always delicious, no matter what he puts in them, or how many eggs he uses.
Here’s another illustration of your point. Over a 10-year period I crocheted close to 40 baby afghans. I used many different patterns from books, but I seldom stuck to the pattern exactly. I would ask my husband for his opinion. “Should I substitute this colour or that one? Should I use this border or that one?” I don’t know why I ever asked him, because his answer was always the same… “Willena, no matter which you choose, it will be beautiful. The recipient will never know you did it this way when you could have done it that way!” And he was right.
So your husband was probably right!LOL!
Yea, it’s not so much that they have any idea how many eggs were actually used,
as it is knowing what it actually takes in order to consistently create
a specific result!
And when it comes to paid advertising of any kind, if you’re tracking, testing and
tweaking, sooner or later you’re headed for trouble!
Thanks so much for sharing your perspective and for your continuous support Willena!
i truly appreciate both!
Hi Mark,
what an interesting analogy!
The mathematical equation is fascinating!
There is a lot to learn when it comes to getting the ‘recipe’ right!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Cheers,
Yorinda
