This Is One Of The Main Reasons Why Certain Types Of One Sided Partnerships In Business Usually Fail!

Okay, in the overall scheme of things.Would you say your business, (small) or otherwise. Or your service is in any way, semi cash strapped or resourced challenged? Do you currently have access, direct or indirect, to all of the, take your pick.

Top influence-r, social media marketing exposure you need? Or what about having enough capital, to do all of the traditional or non traditional advertising or promotions you want?

Or do you have enough direct access to the various, tangible or non tangible resources you definitely need. In order to systematically scale your business or service. If not, do you honestly think, the right type of partnerships in business.Temporary or long term.

Can and definitely will, make a difference to your bottom line? Given enough time and consistent effort of course.

Don’t worry, there is most definitely a reason for all of these seemingly, non ending questions. But before disclosing it. Think long and hard about your brutally honest answers.

Because your perspective on these answers, both now and going forward, will definitely decide, how well, or not so well, you ultimately do.With regards to being or becoming, a successful entrepreneur.

Hopefully You Do Know And Appreciate How Certain Types Of Strategic Alliances Help You Or Your Major Competitors Scale So Much Faster! (Right?)

So for just a moment, consider this potential marketing advantage. One of my collaboration partners, is a Rose Rivera of serp.co fame. And because they’re recognized digital marketing experts.

And their social media marketing presence, is a whole lot more advanced than mine. And because they initially reached out to me, in order to form a mutually beneficial, collaboration partnership.

Meaning, I link to their problem solving content, and they in turn, enthusiastically agree to share my content on their constantly growing social media network.

It’s basically a win/win arrangement. Would you not agree? And BTW, if you’re business or service, is primarily an offline operation. No worries.

You can and definitely should, start or continue to form or further establish, as many mutually beneficial, JV (joint venture) arrangements or strategic alliances, cross promotional arrangements, as you possibly can. If Your Arrangement Is Not Mutually Beneficial You’re Definitely Setting Yourself Up To Fail!

Now before diving head long into the meat & potatoes of this particular post. Take a look at another one of my collaboration partners.

This being, Linda Brenner, editor at vervoe.com. Again.Basically the same mutually beneficial arrangement. I link their relevant content, and they in term share my link, with their constantly growing audience.

And we both expand our potential reach. Scale if you will. Without all the typical costs or hassles. And BTW, vervoe.com has a much higher, and steadily climbing DA (Domain Authority) than my site currently does.

Which means both Google and all of the other, major search engines, definitely take notice, when a site like theirs, links to you or I. Which brings me to the point of this particular blog post.

And ‘why’ you were given the 3rd degree, earlier in the post. Imagine the following proposition, put to you for consideration. And please be brutally honest here.

So Would You Rather Continually Struggle Trying To Wait Until You Have Every Asset Or Resource You Think You Need Completely Built Up!

Imagine you own a prime piece of residential real estate. It’s an investment property. And a potential tenant, with very good credit and a good paying job, or successful business of their own, contacts you about occupying it.

And then they drop a major bombshell, which is clearly a potential deal killer in your lap. Huh? They’d definitely like to occupy your prime residential real estate property alright. But guess this.

They don’t want or expect to pay any rent of any kind. Or fairly compensate you in any way. Say what? That’s correct? Or what about this. You apply for an impressive looking corporate job.

And at the tail end of the interview, the potential employer, makes you aware. They expect you to work extremely hard for them. But they’e not going to pay you a dime. Say what? Exactly.

Right about now, you’re literally scratching your head and wondering what, *if anything!), any of these totally preposterous situations, have to do with potential partnerships in business, failing? Correct? Fair enough!

Have You Ever Heard The Saying You Go In Wrong And You’ll Definitely Come Out Equally Bad Or Worse!

Those words of wisdom, are definitely not to be taken lightly. Case in point. Recently, a company, (who shall remain nameless!) Because the real point of this particular post.

Is not to throw any individuals or companies under the bus per se. Instead, it’s main purpose, is to (hopefully!), open your eyes wide. To a certain type of potentially negative mindset, which unfortunately, is far too prevalent, both on and offline.

And far too many aspiring entrepreneurs, seem to have. And it spills over into their approach to life in general. And business in particular. Anyway..

This company’s rep recently reached out to via email. Asking if I would seriously consider, linking, to ‘what’ they/he felt, was some relevant content, for a piece of software they’re currently promoting.

I quickly responded.

I didn’t see a problem with doing so. But my typical collaboration arrangement is.Either they agree to (back) link to my content as well.. Or simply share my link on their social media network.

They responded back, and said. (Get this!) unfortunately, they could do neither. Say what?

But still, (somehow!) expected me (or possibly you!), to link to them just the same.Yea right. Hopefully you’re getting my overall drift here entrepreneur. Because this type of one sided partnerships in business or life. Simply won’t take you or I very far. Don’t you agree?

  1. Hello Mark,

Shared values are important for a business partnership to succeed. For instance, if one partner envisions a global scale for the business while the other is in it to make a decent living, the partnership will most likely fail.

In most cases, they don’t adequately define their vision and reason for existence beyond simply being a vehicle to make money. As a consequence, people often join partnerships for financial reasons but leave because of values, career or life goal misalignment.

Eventually, thanks for sharing your amazing experience with us.

    With best wishes,

    Amar Kumar

    • You are so right Amar!

Thanks for sharing some extremely well though out insights!

And sadly, as you point out, far too potentially profitable partnerships,
have been and will continue to dissolved, simply because all the major
participants, didn’t clearly define their visions and goals.

Great insights. Thanks so much for sharing them.
