Why Profit Seeking Small Business Owners Should Learn A Great Marketing Lesson From Fiverr.com!

So most, (if not) all of you have heard of, or are in someway, already familiar with the global marketing platform, known as fiverr, correct?

In fact, at least some of you, have used it previously, or know of someway who has, right?

While on the surface, it may not be obvious, the service providers that actively participate on fiverr’s global network, can and will teach any profit seeking small business owners, and or service providers, some potentially profitable marketing lessons.

Provided, your mind is truly open to being exposed to them.Sadly,(most individuals) when they initially think about fiverr,(right away) they immediately focus on the fact, (most gigs) or assignments, only gross five dollars initially.

And that sobering fact, leads them to erroneously conclude, listing their services, like graphic designer, is a complete waste of time! When nothing entrepreneur, could be further from the truth!

Because the fact of the matter is, your initial front end “gigs” as your assignments are affectionately referred to as, are merely the tip of your marketing iceberg.Don’t you agree?

Your initial “gigs” just get your revenue streams rolling, they are the spring board to greater long term marketing possibilities, not the end of the road revenue killers, that far too many uninformed entrepreneurs make them out to be.

Let’s have a specific look at an eye opening marketing example or two, so you  can hopefully appreciate this proven business model’s, full income producing potential.

So What Potentially Profitable Marketing Lessons Can Savvy Small Business Owners Learn From Thee Fiverr Business Model?

Just so all the initial bases are (indeed covered), whenever (you) a potential service provider, lists your extremely valuable services on their global platform, they basically have, (as of this writing anyway), three basic levels of income generation levels. Your initial level is referred to as “gigs.”

That’s where you (or I) initial charge a vendor or individual $5 dollars to perform some type of service, like create a personalized logo or banner etc.

And in order to generate additional revenue, your immediate next level, (much like your standard upsell and or add on sell technique),is what’s often referred to as “gig extras”, (which hopefully) is pretty self explanatory, correct?

And finally, your next level of immediate additional income generating category is what’s often referred to as “custom offers.”

Pretty much, this is where your customer gets the deluxe, or higher end of your specialty expertise, and of course your fees correspond as well.(And of course, fiverr collects their customary 20% transaction fee along the way as well! 😀 )

But entrepreneur, (hopefully) you did take notice as to “how”, while you (or I) are systematically leading our customers progressively up the revenue generating ladder, we haven’t (for the most part) increased our current overhead by one red cent!

That my friend, is the magic of the progressive revenue enhancement structure of fiverr, and or any similar, ongoing revenue generating business model!

Your Small Business Marketing Strategies Should Always Emulate A Proven Winner!

And (just) for those of you reading this, (still) erroneously thinking, (with an) initial entry point of just $5 dollars, so what? How much money can one reasonably expect to earn, on such meager initial fees!

Well (entrepreneur), it just might  help to open your eyes, to know there is a teenager (online), currently located in Greece, that uses that very basic, progressive income producing model on fiverr, and he’s grossed as much as $13,000 dollars in one month, minus fiverr’s 20% service fees of course! 😀

Ladies & gentlemen, strictly from a marketing standpoint, there is so much to be learned from this incredibly powerful example!

Because remember, (no one said) and or is even suggesting, your initial fee has to be as low as $5 dollars! No way! (Unless, you know you’ll be doing some serious volume.)

Extremely Successful Entrepreneurs Understand Just Because You May Initially Start out Small! (You Definitely Don’t Have To Remain There!)

In fact, if you know, within reason, (after) you’ve had a chance to study the gross dollars on the back end of your sales funnel, that for every X number of  initial front end customers/clients, you bring into your sales funnel, doing so will yield Y amount of gross revenue on the back end!

Then you can (and definitely) should be as creative as your gross profit margins will allow! You’ll literally drive your major competitors insane, because they will have no clue, “what” pray tell, the true marketing method to your madness is!

Just Because You’re A Small Business Owner Doesn’t Mean You Have To Market Like One!

Case in point: (a husband & wife marketing team) I currently follow, that routinely earns multi seven figures a year, in both digital products sales, and (high end) one on one coaching & mentoring programs etc.

One of their most profitable, (bread & butter) marketing strategies, is to charge (say) $97 dollars (to their) high end coaching clients, for a two hour, no holds barred Q & A type webinar.

Where basically the first 60 minutes is the “how to” instructional format, and the last 60 minutes or so, is a hard core, no questions barred, Q & A session with the attendees.

Here’s their marketing twist, while the webinar event, (which they record) and place in their paid membership site archives.

Are You Truly Starting To Appreciate How Some Potentially Profitable Marketing Lessons Can Be Found In Practically Any Given Situation?

They allow, (and highly encourage) the 100- 150 paid (high level) coaching clients, to invite as many potential quests as they want!

And they encourage their consulting clients, to charge anywhere from $25 $50 dollars, for each person that wants to attend! And they let their consulting clients keep 100% of any fees they collect!Say what?

Wanna know why? Because they’ve discovered, they often land an additional $250,000 dollars a year, in additional (high end) one on one consulting clients!Bingo!

Isn’t that sort like using fiverr’s (initial “gigs”, and immediately upgrading to the “customer offers” category, and sort of by passing the middle category of “extra gigs!”Make sense, right?

Entrepreneur, that’s just one of the many, proven marketing lessons, savvy small business owners, and or service providers, can and should learn from the progressive fiverr, income generation business model! Don’t you agree? Now as is customary during this part of our show.

  1. I’ve used Fiverr for years and read stories about people making a living selling there, and you are so right about the upgrades being the key to their success. In fact, I saw last week where several mutual blogger friends have introduced Fiverr gigs and I have no doubt they will be using the upgrade options to their advantage. Thanks for the inspiration!

  2. Hi Mark,

I learned quite a bit from your blog post! Great marketing lesson 🙂

Fiverr.com seems to have exploded as a great source of micro outsourced services. Their multi-million dollar advertising campaign made it difficult to to find people who haven’t at least heard of Fiverr. I am glad that is a place to connect
micro-jobbers to businesses that need jobs done. And isn’t it great that some people have been able to make a full time living
or make a lot of extra money in their spare time with it.
