Why Growing Your Business Or Service Is A Lot Like Building A Mega Unit Apartment Complex!

On the surface it may not seem like building a multi unit apartment building and successfully growing your business or service have that much in common, correct? Bu rest assured as you systematically pull back the layers.

You definitely start to better appreciate “how” the building industry and your entrepreneurial efforts do have quite a few not so obvious parallels. Stick around and see for yourself.

Because it really is amazing how much additional commerce (ongoing revenue) can and is systematically generated from successful businesses and the building industry in general. Have a closer look and you be the ultimate judge, fair enough?

Entrepreneur This Is How To Make A Small Business Profitable! (Especially If You’re Not A Certified Marketing Guru!

(And You Have No Immediate Plans To Try And Become One!)

First of all take a closer look at the featured image with this particular blog post. (And without knowing for sure.) Let’s this particular building project will have a total of 40 different units on a total of four floors.

And the range from one to three bedroom apartment units. And let’s say these particular units starts at $1,000 dollars up to $3,500 dollars per month. But long before any one occupies any of these units it takes 36 months or three years to actually complete this particular project.

Which means a local developer needed to hire a crew to work on constructing it, right? And even before the workers starting building the land had to be purchased, correct? So banks or credit unions earned money.

Title companies and attorneys who close various types of real estate transactions earned fees and possibly commercial real estate brokers and agents too.

The Bigger The Project The More Businesses And Service Providers Benefit Both Short And Long Term!

Which means the land hand to be both appraised and approved for this type of residential project, right? And the developer needs a ton of various types of materials, did he or she not?

So you’re talking lumber, sheet rock, nails, plaster, plaster, hand saws, pliers, gloves, safety glasses, concrete for the initial foundation. (And the list goes on and on, correct?) Then as the project steadily progresses they’ll also need to sub contract out to electricians, plumbers, plastic, windows, flooring, toilets, sinks, kitchens, counter tops.

(Entrepreneur do you see “how” other businesses and later on various types of service providers generate ongoing income from a single building project?)

They need to install cabinets in each unit. Plus install ceiling fans in some units and hardwood floors. They also purchase counter tops and they probably have hot water heaters and a basement with state of the art X number of coined operated washers and dryers.

So think about all of the other businesses which also generate income from this one project.

When The Building Industry Is Booming Lots Of Businesses And Service Providers Benefit As Well!

Clearly this is just the down and dirty short list, correct? But think about the heat being provided each month for every unit. Then there’s the cable company which makes money from a certain percentage of the current and future tenants, right?

And of course at least some of the current and future tenants will be buying new or used furniture. They’ll also pay for curtains, shades, lamps real and fake plants just to name a few items.

But all of these necessary purchases steadily add up, do they not? Each unit needs to be painted, right? Entrepreneur are you starting to better appreciate how and why a thriving building industry helps build a robust local economy? (For literally years and years to come.)

And let’s not forget about “how” the local workers of these particular projects also offer major contributions to the local economy as well. Those on site construction workers need various standard equipment to effectively do their jobs, right?

They need various types of hammers, tape measures, steel toed shoes, knee pads, hard hats, tool boxes,

The Local Workers Definitely Do Their Part To Contribute The Local Economy As Well!

Let’s say between all of the various workers involved with these particular project. A ton of eighty total workers are constantly working on site full and part time for the next 36 or X number of months. Think about their daily, weekly and monthly routines. On a daily basis at least some of them buy both coffee and breakfast somewhere locally each day before arriving to work, right?

They buy gas they pay monthly insurance on their vehicle(s.) They either pay rent or a monthly mortgage with their pay checks, right? They buy groceries at least once a week. They pay property taxes on their home or investment properties.

They buy or lease new cars. They occasionally eat out at local restaurants. They host parties for their spouse, kids or siblings etc. They buy birthdays gifts for their spouse, live in significant other, kids, besties, in laws, co-workers, parents and neighbors etc.

Those paychecks get spread around quite a bit don’t they. Some even manage to save or invest a little in, take your pick. Coming up shortly in part two, you or your major competitors will ‘how” your small or large business or service has similar multiple steams of income producing opportunities associated with it as well.
