So What Do Tiny Little Rocks And Sparrows Have To Do With Your Personal Development Anyway?

So What Do Tiny Little Rocks And Sparrows Have To Do With Your Personal Development Anyway?

So entrepreneur, (it is okay to refer to you as that, correct?) Just checking. Anyway, have you ever stopped to consider “what” if anything, some tiny unassuming little rocks and (of all things) the  lowly sparrow have to do with your current ( and quite possibly) long term future personal development?

Don’t worry, this is not one of those tricky answers that you might hear on Jeopardy! But believe it or not, they are all sort of very closely related. In a philosophical kind of way mind you.

For instance; have you ever watched one of those nature shows on The Disney channel? Hey, maybe it was a repeat episode of “Law & Order” replaying and you simply weren’t in the mood for another cop drama show repeat!

Anyway, they show these tiny little sparrows are busily flying about, when they happen to come across a mini ground well. And because the waters not yet quite high enough for them to simply dip their beaks in and drink. What do these savvy little rascals do?

Sit and wait for a major fortune 500 corporation to help them out. Why no. Instead they get busy going about gathering, of all things, those tiny little unassuming little rocks. Do they not?

So What The Heck Can Some Lowly Sparrows And Tiny Little Rocks Teach You About Your Long Term Personal Development Anyway?

So back to our story. Those lowly sparrows (notice the emphasis on the sparrows being plural!), because it definitely takes more than one! Anyway, as they add more and more of those tiny little unassuming rocks to the mini ground well.

Over time, what starts to happen to the water levels? Bingo! They start to rise. And once the sparrows get the water levels sufficient enough to simply (comfortably) dip their beaks into one of these mini ground wells, then they can start enjoying a cool refreshing drink of water. Can they not?

But alas, right about now, sadly entrepreneur, you’re secretly scratching your head (and wondering) what the h_ _ _? (if anything) does some silly nature show (about of) all things.

Some lowly sparrows and tiny unassuming rocks, dropped into a mini ground well over time, have to do with (either) your current and or future long term personal development?

As you recall; this post is meant to be interpreted from  a philosophical perspective. So think of you (ourselves) as these lowly sparrows.Meaning- savvy entrepreneurs and or solo-preneurs etc.

And the vast amount of tiny unassuming little rocks, as the different free and paid educational resources that we constantly come in contact with! Every free or paid webinar  that you/we’ve ever attended! And or will be attending in the future as well!

Your Personal Development Potential Is Improved With Each Additional Educational Resource And Or Skill That You Add To Personal Knowledge Base!

All the podcast and videos and blog posts that we have or will listen to, ( or read) in the future as well.

Every free and or paid one on one power consultation that we’ve ever personally participated in. And finally. Every group session on or offline Q & A session (and or tele- seminar) we’ve ever been involved with!

Entrepreneur, can you not see and hopefully appreciate, (philosophically speaking of course!)  how just like all those tiny unassuming little rocks (over time), will eventually cause the same amount of water to rise to a level, that allows the sparrows to drink comfortably from the mini ground well.

So to does all the quality information products and or services and experts that we consistently expose ourselves to! (And diligently apply the proven secrets they advocate!) those collective educational resources.

Also make it possible for you and I to (eventually)become skilled and competent enough to earn some form of reliable and steady income! Of all types and forms I might add!

Some of it is ongoing, while other forms are extremely passive. And some of it is by way of consulting of some kind. And on and on! Just depending on our own individual levels of skill (s) and personal commitment etc!

There Is No One Single Educational Resource That Will Sufficiently Meet All Of Your Current And Future Educational Needs!

But just like the lowly sparrow, that strategically leverages the tiny unassuming little rocks over time, to help raise the water levels sufficiently enough, so that they can comfortably drink from the wells!

Entrepreneur, were it not for the fact that we strategically leverage all of our current and future  educational resources of every kind. Our knowledge base would be insufficient for us to consistently earn any ongoing income from it. Would you not agree?

So that my friend, is the philosophical relationship and or connection, between the lowly sparrow, some tiny unassuming rocks and your current and future long term personal development! Any questions?

  1. Hey Mark,

Great example for sure and I do love Brian Tracy. He’s right though, those that bulk the changing will never get anywhere in life.

We definitely have to keep learning, doing and evolving over time because it’s all a process. Since we all have to do something every single day of our lives, why don’t we do what’s positive toward our future instead of the opposite.

Great share, you’re such a great story teller is right. I agree with that.

Thank you for this message and hope you’ve had a great weekend.

    • Thanks so much for that awesome compliment Coach!

Greatly appreciated! Like you, I too think Brian Tracy is simply the bomb!

I’ve followed his teachings for years! And like you so wisely pointed out; we either
keep growing and evolving or else!LOL!

So as you say advise, if you’re going to be doing something anyway! It may as well be positive!

Thanks so much (as always) for sharing you extremely valuable insights!

And for your continuous support! Both are greatly appreciated!

  2. You are such a great story teller Mark! Of course I couldn’t agree more both in terms of the value and how everything we learn contributes to our knowledge bank. Truth be told, we learn as much if not more from the mistakes we make and failures we work through than anything out of a book or course – it all adds up!

    • Thanks for your extremely kind and oh so encouraging words Marquita!

And I definitely agree with you, as far as learning the most from the inevitable mistakes that we all
      make!

In fact, my Mother always joked that she definitely learned more (invaluable lessons) from the University
      of hard knocks!

Compared to what those college text books ever taught her about the real world!LOL!

Even though, sometimes our mistakes can be just a tad on the expensive side!LOL!

They are in many circumstances, some of our best teachers!

Thanks as always M for your extremely kind words of encouragement and for
      continuous support!

      I truly appreciate both!

  3. Hi Mark,

Wonderful Post and I love the subject of Personal Development. We all need to develop and grow as persons and skillsets.

And as you mentioned, everything we learn, be it from something we read, something we listen to or an interaction with other people ahead of us in their developement, will take us to new heights. That’s for sure.

Loved the analogy you used from nature about the sparrows and the little rocks. How did they know it though?? The answer is we all have it within us, we just need to take the knowledge and act on it for the growth to happen. And nowadays everything we want to learn about or master is at our finger tips. Thanks to the internet. We just need to get into it and absorb it.

Thanks Mark for a great post and I loved the video too. Really enjoyed it. Love Brian Tracy and his wisdom.

Have a great rest of the week.

    Be Blessed,

    • Thanks Neamat!

I happen to think Brian Tracy is fantastic too!

And I really like the way you put things in a really nice perspective as well.

By pointing out how (if we’re smart), by learning and interacting with people
ahead of us (that’s the real key!) they help us develop all of the skills necessary to get to the next level
      and or levels.

I believe in your excellent post, you referred to this proven process as modeling.

And we both know how effectively it works. And you pointed out, thank goodness for the Internet indeed!

As always, thanks for sharing your extremely valuable insights and for your continuous support.

      Both are greatly appreciated!

  4. Hi Mark, I love the sparrows. I read with my heart in my mouth and I did wonder if it was going to end like “who moved my cheese”, I’m glad that the sparrows are happy :).

Personal development is a lot like that well, and sometimes it seems never ending, but the rewards are sublime as the sparrows found out :).
