Three Ways Consistent Power Walking Helped Me Become A Better Blogger And Entrepreneur!

Entrepreneur do you have any type of steady exercising routine? Either running, cross country and or any type of consistent power walking? Personally, as my (let’s just say) my  extremely mature legs continue to mature!LOL!

I’m finding it necessary to look for some viable and cost effective alternatives to the wear and tare of jogging! Hey, you hang around long enough and the physicality of things change!

Enter good old power walking. And no it certainly wasn’t my first choice. In fact, truth told, it wasn’t before I came across an extremely interesting book entitled , ‘Walk Yourself Thin.”

That catchy title caught my eye and it shared some startling little known facts and proven strategies for walking and consistently exercising.Minus all the normal wear and tear on your knees, that’s usually associated with regular jogging.

And since it was an extremely short read, I decided to go for it. And as I progressed through the book, certain undeniable similarities between (so called) power walking and successful blogging and being an accomplished entrepreneur, started to dawn on me…

And as a direct result, the following post emerged….

Three Incredibly Simple Ways Power Walking Has Helped Me Become a Better Blogger And Entrepreneur!

The very first sort of (aha) insight I had was when this tiny little book (“Walk Yourself Thin”) pointed out, do not be too overly concerned with your actual weight! Especially on a week to week basis! (Okay, twist my arm already!)

Because, according to the author (David A. Rives), it’s counter productive (especially) in the beginning of your walking process, to constantly weigh yourself! The author advises that in the beginning, you’ will experience very little real (if any) substantial weight loss at all!

Yet, you may still be restructuring (rearranging)  your body fat.Believe it or not. Even though you’ve literally been consistently walking five to seven days per week, for months!

And in your well intention-ed mind, all your concerted effort to this point has produced very little (if any) externally visible results!

So here was my very first insight into how power walking was helping me to  become a better blogger and entrepreneur.

1.) First, when you first start your blogging/entrepreneurial journey. You’re going to need to consistently blog and deliver fresh, helpful original content to your niche, and get your fair amount of social shares as well.

But don’t start getting too anxious about why or when Google and the other major search engines will take notice and start moving you up the search engine rankings! (It really would have helped if one of my Internet marketing gurus would have pointed that fact out to me, way back in the beginning of my online marketing education!)

2.) The next (aha) moment occurred when the book also pointed out, your long term goal is not to actually lose weight! Huh? No instead, he points out as your body (over time of course) begins to reshape itself,  (because you’re dropping water weight ) and not muscle, so you may not actually experience very (if any) true weight loss!

But over the course of time, if you keep walking consistently certain distances at least five to seven days per week.

You’ll start to notice (much to your surprise), that you can fit clothes, that you’ve not  been able to slip  into in years! The (aha moment) was this, being a successful entrepreneur requires the ability and patience to commit to consistently doing lots of little things (well), over and over again!

And the accumulative effect is, gradually your strategic efforts will  start to take root.  Case in point, as you consistently leave quality blog comments and socially share other bloggers extremely valuable content. Gradually over time, the same reciprocation will start to consistently happen for you! It just may take a little while.(So please be patient!)

And that’s when the major search engines will (kinda sort of) start to take notice.

A Little Consistent Power Walking Over Time Equals A Big Result!

3.) And the third way consistent power walking has helped me become (both) a better blogger and entrepreneur in general is this; consistently finding (or making!) the time to  walk at least 30-45 minutes, five to seven days per week.

Requires a true unwavering commitment and or discipline! To goal setting. You set your plan and (for the most part!) come hell or hot water, you must stick to it! Doesn’t that attitude and game plan sound just like a page out of a  dedicated entrepreneurs DMO? (Daily mode of operation.)

While there certainly were other extremely keen insights discovered, while reading this particular book! Those three readily stood out and were the inspiration for this post! Now it’s your turn…

  1. This is a good analogy, Mark! You make me want to look up the book on power walking. 🙂 Although I have to admit, at my current weight, if I am on ANY kind of exercise program I’d better be losing weight!

I also think if people follow your advice about blogging and entrepreneurship, they will find that along with all that experience, they will have built a few pretty good relationships. If Google is slow to pick you up, word of mouth will make up for it.

And you’re too funny about wanting to see some tangible results from any
sustained walking and or exercising program! Truth told, me too!LOL!

But as you mentioned, just because Google or any of the other major
search engines are slow to take notice initially.

If we’re branding ourselves correctly,as the how to problem solving
experts! It’s only a matter of time before the on & offline positive word of mouth and mouse
buzz will grow and definitely start to pay off!

Great insights! Glad you found some value! I’ve been reading your extremely touching personal
stories lately and thoroughly enjoyed them and learned the lessons you shared!

So I thought I would borrow a page out of your proven playbook!LOL!
Thanks as always, for your continued support and for your extremely encouraging feedback!

Both are greatly appreciated! And keep those extremely heart warming posts coming! I really enjoy them!

  2. Hi Mark,

I like how you relate your power walking with becoming a better blogger. Thanks to having a virtual business, I have noticed that I have gained some extra pounds. It is a bit of a struggle unless we consciously carve more activity into our days. My version of power walking is mini-hikes at least four times each week in my quest for a healthier more fit body.

Commitment is the discipline that makes any goal possible (in business and health)

I’m glad you could follow my train of thought! Judging from your varios and extremely educational articles, you
definitely seem like you’re constantly on the go!

Even though you’ve clearly got the systems implementation part of your process
      down pat!

And as far as gaining a few pounds goes, doing mini hikes at least four time a week!

That’s awesome BTW!How can any extra pounds survive that rigorous routine!LOl!

Thanks for your continued support and for stopping by and sharing your extremely encouraging feedback!

      Both are greatly appreciated!
