Three Ways Cash Starved Small Business Owners Make Brand Management Harder Than It Should Be!Part Two

As you previously discovered in part one of this series about  how far too many cash starved struggling small business owners and or service providers, often unintentionally make their brand management efforts, way harder than the need to be.

Often times, while not fully comprehending the severity of   the damage they cause. Many otherwise struggling small business owners, inadvertently shoot themselves in the foot.

And then wonder “how'” or why their profits go south? When truth told, if inexpensively increasing their long term profits is the real goal, then they wouldn’t be consistently shooting their brand in the foot! In which case, they wouldn’t keep doing the following three things!

Three More Things That Cash Starved Small Business Owners Do That Make Their Brand Management Efforts Way Harder Than They Need To Be!

Entrepreneur as you read this short list, keep in mind, all by themselves, they’re extremely minor. However, when you combine them with all the other ways entrepreneurs creatively find to damage their brand. sooner or later, it all starts to add up and take a huge toll on your overall brand management efforts.

1.) Brand management crusher # one: Sadly, you’ve never come to grips with “what” it potentially means to your visitors, but especially first time visitors, when they see your sign (on a long standing blank page) that reads “coming soon.”

It may seem harmless enough on the surface. But in far too many cases, “coming soon” never seems to get there! Because you or (hopefully) your competitors never follows through! What’s the overall net affect to you? Once again you succeed in shooting your brand in the foot!

2.)  Brand management crusher # two: Next, if you still haven’t come t grips with the fact that social media platforms are primarily places where consumers go to have active two way conversations, not to be constantly bombarded with one way attempts at controlled brand messaging.

Then once again, you’ve missed or are missing a golden opportunity! Unlike your clueless competitors, that try in vain to treat social media just like paid television advertising.

Meaning, in exchange for free programming, you agree to be bombarded with my advertisement messages! Wrong!

3.)  Brand management crusher # three: If the vast majority of your customer/ clients tolerate you as opposed to advocating for your business, product or service! My friend, you’ve got a long term brand management  issues that definitely needs to be dealt with asap! And that’s why you’re constantly struggling to make more money!

That’s the short of it. These three ongoing  issues, if not effectively dealt with, equal your long term profits (potentially) going south really fast? Don’t you agree?

  1. Hey Mark,

I know that if you have a site that’s “coming soon” the smart thing to do is get them on your list so you can stay in front of them and they’ll remember who you are and what’s to come. Sharing information with them or maybe things that are coming up will definitely help.

I know that social media can really help your brand especially if people are talking about it. Get in on the conversation and they’ll appreciate that you noticed them. Social media is where a lot of our customers hang out.

I sure would hope that people aren’t dealing just with being tolerated. Ouch! That’s never pleasant at all and you’re right, they have some repair work to get done.

Great tips and thanks for sharing these. Hope your Monday got off to a great start Mark.

    • You got that right about being active on social media coach!

And I hate to think “how” much revenue and repeat customers, ongoing clients and or subscribers and referrals I’ve
definitely missed out on over the years, simply by not being as knowledgeable and pro-active as I
should have been initially on, if the nothing else.

Using the big three, mainly, FB, twitter and linkedin! Oh well, live and hopefully learn, right! Thanks
for stopping by and sharing your thoughts! As always, your support and feedback are greatly needed and most
      definitely appreciated!
