Have you actually been in a Kmart lately? It does seem a bit odd to be mentioning the once mighty retailer doesn’t it? But since they’re no longer at the top of the heap, it only seems logical (from a sales revenue sense) that the’y be far more interested in implementing the type of proven sales tips that could put them back in contention. At least you would think they would, right?

So that’s the reason for mentioning Kmart. Now it’s true enough that they’ve revamped their major ad campaigns. Which is awfully major retail of them. But the bottom line to it (for them) is that they need bodies (and lots of them) back in their stores asap.

And for the least amount of cost. Now that’s not to say they won’t be investing money in generating new and repeat customers. Just not so much in the traditional ways.

That is, if they were to at least partially implement the type of marketing orientated sales tips, that you’re about to be exposed to…

What Serious Retailer Could Truly Afford To Overlook These Proven Sales Tips?

Three Really Simple Sales Tips No Serious Major Retailer Can Afford To Ignore!

Three Really Simple Sales Tips No Serious Major Retailer Can Afford To Ignore!

First of all, let me share where my initial inspiration for this first hybrid strategy comes from. In the major malls in your area, do you have (or have you noticed) any of those really nice and very well equipped (for lack of a better word) portable hair salon booths? I other words, these mini hair salons are actually located on the mall floor itself, not within a space like the other stores are.

And typically they have about three seats max. (And not to sound or appear sexist here), they primarily seem to have mostly female customers. So why doesn’t (good old) Kmart approach these highly dedicated entrepreneurial spirits and allow them to setup shop right inside of the Kmart store!say what?

And only charge them a measly $200 dollars per week! (And that’s per every seven days that Kmart is actually open!) As compared to the serious money a major mall is clearly charging them. And Kmart will also go two simple marketing steps further.

1.) Marketing twist # one: First Kmart will supplement these mini (if nothing else) female customer magnets, by providing the hair salon vendors with a special laminated card that’s renewable every years for just two dollars.

And this card allows the customer to bring a friend (over 18) to the mini booth with them, and every time they do both customers get 25% off any service they get!

2.) Marketing twist # two: And at the end of every month, Kmart will allow the hair salon vendor to choose any customer (their grand prize winner) on their opt in email (and or) mobile marketing list to win any service (and or) combination of services they wish, that equal $75 dollars or less!

But the only way they can be eligible for this monthly grand prize, the customer has to do two things. Bring at least one person to the mini hair salon located inside the Kmart store and (of course) join Kmart’s WordPress blog’ s opt in list.

Some Really Simple Sales Tips Are All You Really Need To Get Your Long Term Profit Pump Flowing!

(Don’t You Agree?)

And then Kmart will do some really cool things to help the mini salon really pump up business. Through powerful word of mouth  (and relatively inexpensive) testing and tracking. For ex: (after Kmart and the hair salon owners study their stats) Kmart will easily be able to determine which day or days are the slowest revenue generators for the hair salon.

And as soon as they do. They’ll provide the hair salon with 50 ($20 dollar gas cards) and on say Mondays, the first 50 (or X) number of customers will get (much to their surprise) a $20 dollar gas card!

And each Monday, whichever customer actually spends the most money that day, they’ll get a free $100 dollar gas card! Imagine these customers pleasant surprise! And on and on these unannounced little free goodies will flow! You can well imagine how much positive buzz on social media and offline positive word of mouse  buzz this will create, correct? Absolutely!

So there really is no mystery as how these fairly inexpensive sales tips can and will quickly lead to more revenue! Correct? Excellent! See you in part two. Til then, any questions?

  1. Hello Mark,

You have some great points here. I have noticed that these other stores are offering a wide array of perks for shopping at their stores and places like Kmart and Big Lots are not able to keep up. The perks you get from shopping at Kroger are amazing because you get big discounts and you get money off of fuel as well. That’s hard to beat, but if Kmart and the other stores were able to do something similar then they would be able to regain some customers. Thank you for sharing!

  2. Mark,

I love your simple sales tips and I am wondering how I might apply that to enticing therapists to join the Facebook sharing in my group because everyone will benefit – but most don’t get it. Many just see that as work, rather than a way to expand their own message. I think they need something that entices them. And it’s not a free hair cut or styling. Hmmm.

    Warmly,
