Three Critical Lessons World Class Sprinter Usain Bolt Can Teach You About Successfully Running Your Business!

Usain (or as) the athletic world likes to refer to him as (“the lightning bolt), is currently track and fields highest paid athlete ever! And yes in case you’re wondering, his total earnings have even surpassed the great Carl Lewis!

And Carl most certainly earned a pretty penny during athletic tenure.

And as if the aforementioned  professional achievements aren’t enough. Usain has also won the prestigious Laureus World Sportsman  of the year award, three times!

He’s won the AAF’s World Athlete Of The Year award! And his professional list of accomplishments, simply go on and on!

That said, what if anything can this athletic powerhouses dominance in sports and his extremely lucrative endorsement deals with corporate America, teach you about successfully running your business?

Three Extremely Critical Business Lessons World Class Sprinter Usain Bolt Can Teach You About How To Approach Running Your Business!

Here’s the primary inspiration behind this particular post. A recent com mentor mentioned that they were fairly disappointed with their current list building progress. He also said one of his current list wasn’t quite as big as he would have hoped for and that he used to have a list from a former blog that could generate $40 dollars in a minute.

As a result of reading his comment, and thinking about what he wrote, his comments inspired me to share the following three business related concepts. And how they tie into the way this particular marketer chose to view his current situation. It’s my sincere hope that you view your business from the stand point of a marathon and not a sprint!

1.) Critical business insight # one: First of all, entrepreneur please do not become overly concerned with the overall actual size of your list. Of course, you want to continually build your list as big as you can get.

But the true measure of the real value of your list is the responsiveness of it. Are you’re emails opened, read and your links clicked on and finally results in sales?

2.)  Critical business insight # two: Next, can you really ever know (not only) who your subscribers know that may be of major influence? But what about the people of influence, that know your subscribers contacts and who they may know.

Which means, whatever you do, please don’t sell the long term possibilities of your list short! Meaning, just because one of your lists is small, doesn’t mean that it can’t be responsive and  one of your subscribers lead you to a major person or persons of influence!

3.)  Critical business insight # three: And last but certainly not least; One of the things I pointed out in my reply to his comment on my blog.He claimed that one of his lists on a former blog, could generate $40 dollars in a minutes time.

Without knowing if that’s true or what particular product or service he was marketing, or the actual size of that particular list etc.  I suggested that maybe he should inexpensively test creating (either) a free how to lead generating video (and or series) and or a free special report, detailing exactly how he generated that $40 dollars of income in just 60 seconds!

Detailing how he ultimately accomplished that remarkable feat! That free lead generating information, just might help eliminate his list building concerns. Don’t you agree? In any event, these three major concerns and and others are why you probably shouldn’t run or look at your business, as if you’re world class sprinter Usain Bolt. Don’t you agree? Because unlike Usain, you’re not trying to win a sprint in world record time, are you?

Instead, you’e in business for the long term results, right? Alright then…

Please list at least two simple spin off concepts (in the comments section below) that you can apply to your business, product or service in the next 30 days or less!

  1. Hi Mark,

I like the headline. Usian Bolt and run your business, nice.

I think you mentioned a critical part on the responsiveness of our lists. So many people on these list just sign up for the freebie and unsubscribe or never open another email.

There is no value in that subscriber other than illusion. When you brag about having thousands of subscribers but only a 1% open rate and less of a click rate.

I hope your having a good weekend so far.

    • That’s an awesome insight Steven thanks!

I just may explore creating a really cool blog post or video around
      your insight, thanks!

And you are so right about understanding the difference between having a smaller, yet far more responsive list
as opposed to merely having a bunch of subscribers that are only interested in getting the next free thing
      you offer!

Pretty tough to monetize subscribers with that time of mind set!

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your keen insights!

I truly appreciate it and hope and trust your weekend is going well too!
