So as you previously discovered in part three of this ongoing series about “how”an extremely savvy local furniture store, (and or your business and or service) aggressively went about profiting, from some of the all too common Internet marketing mistakes.
And one of the ways this particular local furniture concern did so, that’s currently working like gangbusters is, soon after they starting building a rather substantial (generic) opt in email list.
They began to send periodic (non pre written) broadcast email messages to their VIP opt in subscribers, (which as you also recall) to date was a very impressive 6,479 and growing!
And the really funny part is,since they initially inexpensively tested and set everything up, they are not really having to do too much in order for that list to just keep compounding organically, practically on autopilot!
Because of the huge in store monthly raffle opportunity they offer, (that’s) currently only available to the extremely valued VIP email subscribers!
But (throughout) the early to late summer months, when most of their walk in customers see that for a mere one time payment of $500 dollars (or X), they get a chance to enter a monthly raffle, for a chance at winning (either) a $4,000 dollar master bedroom and or living room set!
Now entrepreneur, (I simply gotta ask you) is that the proverbial “irresistible offer” or what? You got that right! But let’s delve a little deeper, to see “what” else we may be be able to discover shall we?
So “How” Do Extremely Savvy Entrepreneurs Such As Yourself Consistently Profit From Some Of These All Too Common Internet Marketing Mistakes?
(Without Taking Advantage Of Anybody!)
Ladies & gentlemen, first things first! Would you not agree, that in today’s extremely social media savvy consumer driven environment, a local furniture concern that routinely offers a $4,000 – $6,500 dollar master bedroom and or living room set, in a monthly raffle, with a one time entry fee of just $500 dollars (or X), is probably going to generate at least some local buzz (both) on and offline, by way of some extremely positive word of mouth and mouse marketing!
And they’ll also (more than likely) generate a few braggadocios tweets, really cool video footage and or pictures on FB and a few pictures will get posted on good old instagram and Pintesrest as well! Entrepreneur, you’d better hurry up and know it!
Now then, let’s say that on average (not counting) the extremely busy holiday season! Our local furniture store, (whose) current hours of operation are M- Sat, 9:00 am to 9 pm and Sunday it’s 10:00 am to 6 pm.
And of course, as was previously mentioned, they’re open a little later during the late season holiday rush!
How Extremely Savvy Entrepreneurs Get Their Businesses To Erupt While The Vast Majority Of Their Major Competitors Are Simply Treading Water!
Let’s be extremely conservative with our projections and say (that typically) about 300 unique individuals (which of course) includes couples! But let’s say that on any given average business day, about 300 customers shop at the store.
Which means for seven business days, that’s 2,100 of the faithful! Or 8,400 per month! In your typical four week month only!(300 per day x 7 days per week = 2,100 x 52 weeks per year equals 109,200 paying customers! (Hello! 😉
And let’s say an extremely conservative 30% or (on average) about three out of every ten paying customers, pay the one time entry fee of $500 dollars (or X), in order to enter your (or the furniture concerns summer month raffle.)
Which means (for this hypothetical marketing example only!) entrepreneur, that 32,760 paying customers, just added a cool (are you sitting down?) $16,380,000 in cash directly to their bottom line!Say what?Right! (109,200 x .30% = 32,760.)
Go ahead, double check the math yourself! Before we move on!
There’s Potential Opportunity All About Don’t You Agree?
The main reason this (potential) math is being demonstrated to you in such detail, is because (unfortunately), far too many of you saw (or see) the word raffle and yo simply rush right past it, without really fully comprehending “what’s” really possible!
Now just so you’re not completely confused here! The furniture store also has your standard lead capture page attached to their state of the art (mobile responsive) WordPress blog and they also capture fresh new opt in leads practically every day, from some of their online traffic as well!
This (other) ongoing opt in list of 32,760 (and growing) is partly because of the many in store buying incentives they consistently use in order to ethically bribe their paying customers into joining some type of list! And they’re late summer month raffle ( opt in email list building) marketing strategy.
But before we could effectively get to this other really good stuff, we had to first make darn sure you’re really comprehending “what’s” going on here! Now the, are you ready?
Now as is customary during this part of our show.

Hey Mark,
I and many others underestimate the power of a raffle. Despite the fact that your customers are paying to enter your business accruing a lot just from the entrance Fee. And on top of that is the psychological effect of having a raffle. Many people love getting involved in raffles for a chance to win something that they don’t have to pay full price for.
On top of that I like the idea of combining offline techniques with online. So yes I agree with Matt. it gives your customer more options as well as you the entrepreneur market your business, especially for a raffle!
Thanks for sharing Mark and you have a great week ahead!

Bingo Sherman!LOL!
So very well said! People (of all incomes mind you!) absolutely love entering a raffle,
for the exact reasons you mentioned!
They know they’re getting a chance to purchase something they truly desire for a fraction
of it’s normal retail value!
And like you also wisely pointed out, you’ve just increased your bottom line cash flow too boot!LOL!
Does it get any better than that? Plus, as you mentioned, it’s a really simple, proven way for a
predominantly offline business, to combine the power and leverage of technology to be more profitable!
Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your extremely valuable thoughts!I always look forward to and welcome them!
And your real rel world input i greatly appreciated!

Hi Mark,
I love the example of the jeweler and the bakery doing business together…very savvy marketing approach! It resonated with me so much because when I had my local offline business, I have something similar. Back then my list was snail mail. I did the exact same thing with other local businesses.
Working together with other businesses in our town sure was a win-win. On holidays I would give out gift certificates like buy one get one free. This increased people on my mailing list. It is all about working together.
The same approach can be done with online businesses. If I team up with someone else and we cross promote with a give away or something of that nature, we both win!
Love this idea….keep them coming!

Awesome Coach!
So glad you of all people could truly appreciate these proven concepts!
And you’re so right, when you combine resources with other reputable marketers (on or offline),
those strategic alliances are like receiving additional cash to help boost both your visibility and
credibility!
And we both know how well they flat out work!If you take the time necessary to structure them right!LOL!
Thanks so much for your extremely kind words of encouragement! That means an awful lot Coach!

I love that this is really an “offline” technique moved into the online space. I think we’re going to see more & more of this as we move forward.
If you could replicate those numbers you’d be all set. It’s just a matter of opportunity & volume.
Matt recently posted…An Australian SEO Company: Pay On Performance
Absolutely, that’s a great point Matt!
And don’t forget and or discount the fact that, after a little strategic tweaking (testing)
and monitoring, maybe the furniture concern or jeweler etc, has more than one location and maybe
they have an ongoing JV (joint venture) arrangement set up with four or five other
rather large local companies, that are non competing with them!
So that on a weekly or monthly basis (both on and offline) the furniture store’s offer(s)
is consistently being exposed to literally ten’s of thousands of new eyeballs!
For virtually pennies on the dollar!
Not just their own paying customers! Thanks so much for stopping by!
And BTW, I already like the headline of your post!I’ll definitely read it for the particulars,
but some form of performance based, results driven marketing,is an extremely powerful marketing tool!
Lots of times it can cause some of your major competitors to head off in the opposite direction,
really fast!LOL!
Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts! They are greatly appreciated!

At a former job, I helped raise about $15,000 out of the total $23,000 based on raffles. I went out to local businesses and got donated goods. I printed flyers and asked the Chamber and other local organizations and radio stations and newspapers to spread the word about the raffle. While it wasn’t online, the same concept of social media marketing can be applied.

That is too awesome Nile!
And thanks so much for sharing your real world activities!
Because hopefully, future readers will appreciate just how much is totally
within their power to do and accomplish!
Getting radio stations and the chamber of commerce to assist you as well,
that’s so awesome!
And you helped raise $15,000 dollars for a worthy cause of some kind to boot!
It doesn’t get and better than that!I sincerely hope your sharing that helps inspire others!
Thanks so much!

Hello Mark.
That is one amazing example of how a raffle could generate so much buzz and money! I wonder what percentage of customers might actually partake in such a raffle. ( It would really be interesting to know if any such statistics were out there.) Regardless, I’m sure many would at least sign up to be on the list to be notified of such events and sales, which is, of course, golden.
As always, I found your post very motivational!

Awesome Karen!
Thanks so much!I really enjoy and feel your extremely positive energy!LOL!
And keep in mine, with this particular example (only!), with retail furniture concerns
and or jewelers or appliance centers (just to name a few) they have outrageous markups!
So that’s why you can and should ethically bribe your customers with an irresistible offer
of letting them purchase something extremely popular like a 75 inch flat screen TV or
Master bedroom and or living room set or a Rolex watch for a fraction of it’s normal retail cost!
And if need be, they could pile on even more goodies, in order to further stimulate customer anticipation!
But the real point is, (as you so wisely picked up on!), only your VIP email customers are allowed to enter!
So if they want to be a part of the potential fun, they’ve got to be on your VIP email list!LOL!
Thanks for all of your extremely valuable feedback! It’s always welcome an so greatly appreciated!
