Hopefully you’re already familiar with the term ‘reverse engineering,” correct? Great. Because as you’re dissecting this next, hypothetical marketing example.
Be sure you (seriously!) consider, how either of the three major players, can become the main facilitator, of these various, previously untapped marketing opportunities. Say for example.
An extremely marketing savvy, single location, Mom & pop-family style orientated restaurant owner. Recognizes, the long term profit generating potential, of the virtually untapped, back end component of their restaurant.Huh?
Consider this incredibly simple, yet potentially eye opening, train of marketing thought. Suppose a husband & wife, coming in for a nice, higher priced, romantic dinner for two.
And the final bill is just over $118 dollars, including a nice 15% tip. However, previously, this same couple, just four hours earlier the same day. They purchased a second vehicle. A used Lexus and paid just over $27,000 dollars for it.
Are You Finally Starting To Appreciate The True Value Of A Potential Customer!
Now the $64,000 dollar question is. Which of these two transactions, generated the most initial front and back end income? Obviously the correct answer is.
The used car purchase, correct? And ‘what’s’ the point you ask? Simply this. The same couple, who gladly spent money on a romantic dinner.Was and is worth far more, to a local car dealership, who ultimately sold them a used Lexus. Right?
Literally thousands of dollars, just on the initial front end alone, correct? Then, as you tally up, all the additional spending, associated with vehicle ownership, on the long term back end.
It really becomes obvious, ‘why’ a savvy car dealership or marketing savvy retail vendor of any kind, would be more than willing, to pay for another non directly competing local vendor.To do some form of lead generation for them. As you’re about to discover.
Don’t Ever Neglect Or Dismiss The Fact Other Vendors Need Your Leads Or Customers Too!
Then again. Let’s say the restaurant owner(s), even though they maybe extremely marketing savvy. They may not fully appreciate, just ‘how’ valuable their current and future customer might be or become.
Say they may only see, and therefore appreciate, the immediate cash flow of their paying customer base. On the other hand. A local retail jeweler, who also frequents the popular family style restaurant.
They notice right away. The clientele, closes matches their ideal customer base as well. And since their ideal customer,(be they man or woman), has a current, total lifetime customer value of somewhere between $3,500 – $13,000 dollars. Give or take over the next five to seven year period.
This being the case. The jeweler (owners) or one of their top managers, approaches the restaurant owner(s), with the following proposal. Which, after some strategic testing and tweaking, will definitely help both businesses, generate more initial customers and repeat long term customers.
And more higher end referrals, for literally pennies of the dollar.
Here’s how. First, going forward. Any time a couple orders any expensive meal over say $100 dollars or X. They are made aware, they automatically quality, for two free glasses, of the restaurants most expensive, house wines or champagnes.Say what? That’s correct.
Behind the scenes, the extremely marketing savvy retail jeweler, will purchase these expensive beverages.And allow the restaurant owners, to use them, to build the word of mouth and mouse buzz.
Both on and off of social media.
Why Continually Waste A Fortune On Advertising When You Can Use Proven Marketing Strategies Or Tactics Instead!
Here’s the other subtle marketing touch. Each couple or individual, who spends over X with the restaurant. The restaurant owners staff, are instructed, to hand the customers, a sealed envelop, with the words “Thank You!” written in bold red letters on the outside.
Inside, the momentarily stunned customer, will find two types of extremely time sensitive promotional discount coupons worth X.
