So What Important Marketing Lesson Can One Of The Best Fast Food Restaurants Teach You?

Entrepreneur are you into eating any type of fast food? Ever eat at your neighborhood  Mickey D’s/?That insider talk for your friendly neighborhood McDonald’s.

For sure McDonald’s is one of the all time best fast food restaurant chains in modern American  (if not in world) history, correct?

Of course if you’re not into munching on greasy super sized French fries, and calorie rich quarter pounders with cheese and the occasional mouth watering milk shake. Hey I totally get it.

Clearly there are plenty of much healthier food choices to be made. Correct?

But by the same token, believe it or not, there is still quite a bit of extremely helpful (high level)  marketing guidance, (you and I), can and definitely should learn from the fast  food industry in general and McDonald’s in particular.

So whether you happen to occasionally dine there or not, from a business standpoint the way they systematically go about doing things,(from a marketing perspective), offers an extremely powerful marketing lesson or two!

So What Exactly Is This Extremely Profitable Marketing Lesson That One Of The Best Fast Food Restaurants In Modern History Can Teach You And I?

First of all it’s no surprise the McDonald’s franchise is (world famous) for coining six of the most profitable words in fast food restaurant history, correct? And that would be, “Would you like fries with that?”

Those incredibly, (yet oh) so extremely profitable words are single handily responsible for (literally) adding tens of millions of additional dollars (every day) to McDonald’s bottom line! Are they not?

In fact those six words are so incredibly profitable, any unskilled teenager (with very little training) can successfully apply them their very first day on the job! 😎

However, that’s not the only thing  and extremely important marketing lesson, (and business principle) that can and definitely should be learned from your neighborhood McDonald’s! Not even close.

So What Is This Incredibly Profitable Free Marketing Tool The Best Fast Food Restaurant Uses That Should Definitely Become A Part Of Our Marketing Arsenal Too?

So let me ask you a question. Ever eat at a McDonald’s in another city, town and or state? Notice anything different about “how” they go about doing things?

Meaning, the food, coffee and hot apple pie, all pretty much taste the same correct? Bingo entrepreneur! Huh?

McDonald’s no matter where you happen to find the golden arches erected, they pretty much do things the exact same way! So “what’s” the (so called) extremely powerful marketing lesson and business principle you and I need to draw from that?

And more importantly how can it possibly be of “benefit” to your online marketing career? McDonald’s is consistent!

Successful Entrepreneurs Merely Build On What’s Already Working! (And So Should You!)

So if you decide to blog (initially) just twice a week. And you choose Tuesday & Thursday. Then entrepreneur, short of a real (unavoidable) family emergency of some kind!

Come Tuesday & Thursday of each week, be sure your edited, fresh “how to” problem solving content is ready to go! Because your (our) audience will come to expect your latest efforts on those days!!

But you’re not going to walk into a McDonald’s in another city and or state and they’ll be serving piping hot Chinese food and or macaroni & cheese! 😎 Right?

Of course you can always occasionally add one or two additional post per week if you wish to! But don’t start out posting three times a week and suddenly reduce it to just one day a week!

(Again, we all know and respect the fact that occasional unforeseen circumstances beyond your control will definitely occur!) But let that be the “exception” and not the rule!

Don’t Put Your Semi Resourced Challenged Small Business In A Position Where It’s Likely To Fail!

Think about McDonald’s and “how” they’ve systematically built their brand on being consistent! And you’re definitely on your way!

So are we clear on how one of the best fast food restaurants in history, can teach you and I an extremely profitable marketing lesson?Great!

  1. Thank you so much for this enlightening post, I have significantly got some thing right here and I will bookmark this page for your next upcoming post.

  2. Hi Mark,

I love this post. You have hit the nail on the head. Consistency is where it is at in terms of your marketing efforts and really pretty much anything you do, but I’ll stick to marketing here.

Would you like fries with that is ingrained in our brains and is referenced many times over in conversation relating to growing your business.

Just like “America runs on Dunkin” referring to Dunkin Donuts. Dunkin Donuts is all about their coffee and not so much about their donuts.

Also, this points to less is more. I mean McDonalds has a lot more than french fries to offer their consumer, but would you want fries with that sticks. The question becomes what marketing slogan can you use that will stick with your customers?

One last point to make is how many times have we seen or heard of would you like fries with that? So many times I lost count. Which means we should make it a point to get our marketing message in front of prospective customers often, so we become ingrained in their brains.

Thanks for sharing Mark and I will be sure to share.

    Have a great day.

    • Excellent points Kurt!

Thanks so much for sharing them! And I love your incredibly subtle point about Dunkin Donuts
      slogan!

Until you pointed that out, I hadn’t actually connected the dots!LOL!

They claim “America runs on Dunkin” and you’re absolutely correct, that distinction
is not about their donuts, it’s referencing their coffee!

That is so brilliant to pick up on such a subtle distinction! Thanks
so much for sharing that amazing point!

And strictly from a marketing perspective, which business is more consistent than
      McDonald’s?

Practically wherever you go to eat there, you can pretty much count on
a certain level of performance and execution!

No matter who and what particular background their personnel is!

Thanks for sharing several excellent points Kurt!

Thanks to you, I may just have to reference your excellent point about
Dunkin donuts effective job of branding, in an entirely new article!LOL!
