So How Does Laser Focus Help You But Tunnel Vision Cost Really Big Money?

So with regards to systematically growing your business/service and constantly adding (brand new) first time customers or clients, it’s not really hard for you to have high level laser focus, correct?

But here’s a quick question for you, (have you) ever noticed, while it’s great to have (or quickly) develop laser focus like habits.

The flip side or having one track mind sort of tunnel vision , (sadly) can actually stand in the way of you consistently making some really big money?

And or how it often prevents you from experiencing any type of major breakthroughs, on a consistent basis!

(Nod your head because it’s true!) Because for sure, for the most part, you know how to effectively eliminate most of your daily distractions, right?

And when you need to, you can definitely shut out all unnecessary distractions completely!Even if that means temporarily making yourself totally unavailable to some extremely close friends & immediate family members as well!

And that’s great. But what happens when your laser focus tendencies crosses the line and now, (suddenly) you’re dealing with an extreme case of long term, potentially profit repelling tunnel vision? Huh?

So the $64,000 dollar question (quickly) becomes, how do you develop, some reliable money making laser focus like habits, while simultaneously preventing it from developing into long term profit repelling tunnel vision?

So How Does Developing Laser Focus Help You While Developing Tunnel Vision Potentially Cost You Some Really Big Money?

Ladies & gentlemen, if you’ve haven’t had a chance to yet, you’ll definitely wanna checkout (asap) this recent post I published on “how” some extremely savvy local furniture concerns, could turn their excess inventory control issues, into a previously untapped, major long term profit center.

And in part three of that ongoing series, I revealed how some extremely savvy (local) charities, could potentially cash in using the exact same marketing model, plus a few brain dead simple marketing tweaks of course! 😎

And as I often do, I periodically check my spam box, because every now and then, for some odd reason, some legitimate comments, get labeled as spam.

And when I did so, (a short while) after publishing the third installment of that particular series, that’s when I found a comment, where the spammer, first acknowledged just much “how” they enjoyed that particular post, but wondered “if” I couldn’t also address how a beginner, might be able to apply that exact same marketing strategy!Fair enough! 😎

Without rehashing the entire theme of the third installment of the series, which hopefully you’ll read, (but) in order to still give you enough of an overview, so that you can at least partially appreciate my inspiration for this particular post.

The marketing strategy outlined, involved an extremely savvy (local) charity, using a super “fund raising” strategy, they basically borrowed from a savvy (local) retail furniture outlet, to raise in excess of $750,000 dollars! (In a hypothetical marketing scenario mind you! 😎 )

And the spammers comment/question basically wanted to know, if (or how) a beginner or smaller company or charity could apply “what” I was advocating? So that’s the back drop and the real inspiration for this particular post.

So How Do You Calculate The True Cost Of Single Focused Tunnel Vision?

So here’s where and how that particular comment inspired me. Ladies & gentlemen, most of you (no doubt) have heard the saying, “can’t see the forest for the tress,” correct?

Back when I first formally started studying the subject of “Owner financing” and how it relates to the entire multi billion dollar ” Creative Financing”, “No Money Down” Real estate investment education industry.

You ‘d hear or invest in one particular course, and basically the expert author would be saying, 7 + 3 = 10. (Conceptually speaking of course.)

Then the very next course or lecture you attended, the expert author would be saying 6 + 4 = 10! Then the third extremely well spoken expert would proceed to tell you, in dressed up fancy financial jargon talk  mind you,  9 + 1 = 10? Entrepreneur, mathematically speaking, are you starting to see an overall common theme here? Me too! 😎

But here’s the overall point; even though all three experts said it differently, all three mathematical examples, ultimately gets you to the exact same place! Do they not?Bingo!

And that’s just using additional! Hopefully, by your fifth or sixth rather pricey course on the exact same subject, it now slowly starts to dawns on you, 30 divided by 2, minus five equals ten a well! 😎

Meaning, your overall education is now thorough enough, that you can systematically take, what seems like completely separate or abstract strategies, tactics or concepts and mix and match them, in order to achieve your ultimate marketing objectives!Yippie!

So the short of it is, my spammer comment, could only appreciate the specific concepts being explained and demonstrated, by way of the specific marketing techniques!

So they could only partially see the trees, but not the overall forest of long term potential marketing possibilities!

Where And How Tunnel Vision Really Starts To Cost You Big Time!

So here’s how the overall super “fund raising” strategy, that was successfully demonstrated in part three of the ongoing series, on systematically converting inventory control issues into a previously untapped, long term profit center.

This is how it could easily be applied, by a far less ambitious, yet extremely savvy marketer! Take the weekly Bingo center, where each week, at least one hundred, (give or take) of the faithful gather for three plus hours of innocent fun!

In order to quickly help spread the on and offline positive word of mouth buzz, and in order to (hopefully) not too far down the line, create some brand new first time and eventually repeat customers.

The savvy local Bingo parlor and an extremely savvy (local) appliance dealer, they conveniently combine forces,in a not so likely strategic alliance, so hopefully they can both ultimately make out in the long run!

Since, (just like) the local jeweler, the local appliance dealer has some serious price markups on their products a well. The appliance dealer can easily afford to initially invest smaller amounts of money, in order to strategically build a long term customer/ repeat customer base.

So here’s where (both) their readily available cash and extreme marketing savvy, helps out them and the Bingo parlor owners as well!

They have the bingo parlor pass out a two sided 8.5 x 11 sheet that “Alerts” the players, that for the next eight consecutive weeks, every person that brings at least one new player with them, 18 & over to the weekly game.

They automatically get a $20 dollar gas card for doing so! And as soon as they reach their fifth person/quest. They’ll automatically qualify to receive a $50 gas card for each one thereafter, until the eight week deadline date arrives! 😎  You see “how” the positive word of mouth and mouse thing might work? Right? Tweet, tweet! 😎

And side “B” of the flyer, in big bold red letters, directs everybody to the appliance dealers (mobile responsive) WordPress blogs/ market tested lead capture page. In order to (what else),enter their “free drawing!”

For a chance to win a state of the art $2,500 dollar Home Entertainment System! And just eight weeks from the very first day they start passing these flyers out at the Bingo game, on that special night, the 1st & second grand prize winners will be announced!!

Now then, in both the interest of time & space, we’ll gladly fill in the rest of the blanks and answer your burning question! Which is, “how” does all or any of this tie into the local charities, using their super “fund raising” strategy?

And how can the Bingo parlor owners ultimately profit from it? As I tried to point out just a little earlier in this post entrepreneur. Some just can’t see the overall forest, for the trees! 😎

But in part two, you’ll definitely get your answers! And that’s where you’ll truly discover how and why tunnel vision can potentially be so harmful to your long term profit potential!Okay!See you in part two!!

  1. Mark,

I’m so glad I checked out this article. I have been blogging for over 5 years and can honestly say there have been times where I have been stuck with a one track mind. I always tried the same strategy over and over again even though I never saw results. I guess I didn’t have the confidence to try something new or I was so afraid of failure that I didn’t try anything at all.

I’m looking forward to learning from you as you have shared some valuable insights and peak my interest on this series.

  2. Hi Mark,

I get what you’re saying here. Business is about adaptability, agility and the ability to see what’s coming all around you so that you can take advantage of every opportunity or flee from those things that can harm you.

I think that tunnel vision has its place, but only in short spurts where intense focus is required for a defined period of time.

Being able to see the details through the lens of the big picture is what creates success. As you said, if you stay in the details they will become a distraction.

I appreciate your focus here Mark and this is a vital concept to grasp for all business owners and entrepreneurs if we are to be successful.

    Have a great week!
