So How Come More Cash Strapped Small Business Owners Don’t Wow Their Best Customers With Bribery?

So have you noticed, practically every severely cash strapped small business owner and or service provider, still has a certain percentage of their customer and or client base, that is extremely loyal!

And they are the ones, (typically) your 20%, that will go above and beyond the normal call of duty, with regards to consistently spreading, some (potentially) bank account filling, positive word of mouth & mouse accolades for your cause.

So the $64,000 dollar question begs asking?

How in the world, are you and I expected to determine, which, (if any) of our current or future customers/clients, are worth rolling the red carpet for?

Let their purchasing patterns, (if nothing else) be your initial guide.

Meaning; when they are about to finalize their initial (or some purchase) later on, use a variation of your upselling technique to help you determine, if rolling the red carpet, is ultimately going to be worth it or not.

For example, any particular customer that is willing to take advantage of one your upsell/add on sell strategies, that ‘s definitely a pretty good sign, that you’re on the right track..Would you not agree?

Since Ethical Bribery Is Such An Effective Marketing Strategy Why Don’t More Cash Strapped Small Business Owners And Or Service Providers Use It To Create More Long Term Gross Profits?

Ladies & gentlemen, since it’s already a forgone conclusion, if at some point in your sales process, you can’t or don’t consistently turn some type of gross profit,on the front or back end of your sales funnel, you can’t remain in business, correct?

Then clearly, somewhere in your sales process, you’re consistently bringing in more that you spend, correct? Which means entrepreneur, you just like your major competitors, have some type of gross profit margin, and or spread, somewhere in your business and or service right?

Okay, let’s take a look at “how” you and or your major competitors, can and should (strategically) use your spreads, to (not only) ethically bribe your best customers and or clients, for purchasing more from you.

But also cause, almost compel them to consistently tell others as well!Let’s have a look at an instance or two.

One Of The Main Problems With Too Many Small Business Owners Is They Continually Think Way Too Small!

Let’s take a really simple example, of “how” the so called, “ethical bribe” can and should be used, by either an extremely savvy small business owner and or service provider, to create a ton of goodwill with their best customers and or clients, and cause them to want to continually spread the word as well!

(Both on and off of social media.)

For ex; let’s say you run two extremely profitable, local Mom & Pop retail appliance centers.Which means you’ve got some major front or back end gross profit margins.

Which you’re more than sick and tired of seeing, outrageously expensive, traditional advertising and or promotional costs eat into!

Keep Your Marketing Eyes Open And You’ll Discover More Non Traditional Ways For Some Potentially Profitable Lead Generation Opportunities!

So you’re extremely open to inexpensively testing, some “battlefield tested” ways of lowering your initial front end cost to acquire, that all important first time customer, and inexpensively generating additional revenue from your current and future repeat customers.

So you initially, (inexpensively) test the following upsell strategy, on (both) Mothers & Valentines Day.You contact an upscale, local women’s clothing store and or boutique etc.

And you arrange to sell (on consignment) at first, some of their top of the line women’s purses, that normally would retail for $100 dollars or X.

But when your female customers, 18 and over, spend $100 (or  X) amount of dollars, for just $60 ( or X ) dollars more, the women’s boutiques actual cost, your female customer can save 40% or $40 dollars off the normal retail rate, for a really nice women’s hand bag!

What just happened? Your really cool “ethical bribe” just induced a certain percentage of your female customer base, to spend X more dollars, in order to save X% off something they will definitely buy elsewhere!Right? Absolutely!

Thinking Like A Successful Entrepreneur Is Definitely A Full Time Job!

Your women’s boutique and or upscale women’s clothing business, just got inexpensively exposed to a potential repeat, long term customer, plus their network, for a fraction of the traditional cost!Did they not!

Your “ethical bribe” induced them to spend more money with you, has it not? And they now have a really cool gift to brag and share”how” and where they got it from, with co-workers, employees, relatives, closet girlfriends, sisters, sister in laws, neighbors , and or their Mom etc.

All that positive word of mouth & mouse, from one relatively inexpensive “ethical bribe?” Afraid so entrepreneur!

Extremely Successful Entrepreneurs Are Always Open To Some Non traditional Ways To Grow their Business And Or Service!

Of course, you’ve got (absolutely) no business whatsoever, attempting any type of strategy such as this upfront, until you know, and or already have a pretty good understanding of, your total lifetime customer values, and your lead generation costs!Otherwise, you may as well just speculate on commodity future prices!

Once you become aware of these costs and you don’t (periodically) inexpensively test, to see what or which “ethical bribe” proposition, consistently produces the most bang for your buck!Entrepreneur, shame on you! And you definitely deserve to eat your major competitors smoke!

That’s just one of the ways, your severely cash strapped small business, and or service can and should be consistently using (relatively) inexpensive “ethical bribes” to create more business, and long term positive word of mouth publicity!Don’t you agree? Now as is customary during this part of our show.

  4. Hi Mark,

    I like your headline:

‘So How Come More Cash-Strapped Small Business Owners Don’t Wow Their Best Customers With Bribery?’

And the answer is: they don’t know about these strategies, or if they do, they’re change resistant. And you’re right, thinking like an entrepreneur is a full-time activity.

You’ve featured another creative idea using the proven tie-in strategy. The only thing I would add is to say that business owners need to make sure that any strategic alliances they initiate (or submit to) should be with firms that are congruent with theirs. If they get it wrong, the strategy will fail.

    Another sweet post, Mark
