Sales And Promotion: How To Keep Your Best Customers Completely Satisfied And Wanting More!

So (entrepreneur) would or does it surprise you to know (or did you) already know that on average,  men (especially) middle to upper middle income men.

Tend to eat out (at both) fast food restaurants  and more formal full service restaurants more often than women?

Personally, “what” I found far less surprising is, when it comes to dining out more often with the kids,  especially the youngsters (say) ten and under.

Can you guess which sex (more times than not) gets nominated for that tour of duty more often? 😀

If you said Mom and or Grandma, you are correct da mundo!

Which is “why” this particular post will focus heavily on “how” your typical Mom & Pop style (local)  family restaurant, can and should effectively implement some basic ninja style sales and promotion strategies that will absolutely target your best customers, (that being) primarily Moms (especially those on extremely tight budgets) and Grand moms) with the kids.

And focus on at least three bare bone minimum ways of keeping them totally satisfied and constantly coming back for more!

So How Does A Cash Strapped Mom And Pop Style Family Restaurant Strategically Use Sales And Promotion Strategies? (That Keep Your Best Customers Completely Satisfied And Constantly Coming Back For More!)

Ladies & gentlemen, would you not agree, that “if” it’s Moms and Grand moms that primarily take the kids to family style restaurants, there is also a very good chance, they’ll (more times than not!)

Also be in the company of other Moms and Grand moms? To discuss “whatever” it is Moms and Grand moms discuss when they take kids to fast food and or family style restaurants! 😎

You’d better hurry up and know it! That said; here’s the first way these extremely savvy, (cash strapped) Mom & Pop restaurateurs will pro-actively market to this extremely lucrative segment of their (hopefully) ever growing customer and repeat customer base.

First of all; after Mom (and or) the Grand moms are seated and are busy looking over the menu. Trying to figure out the absolute best way to s-t-r-e-t-c-h their dollars!

The wait staff will approach them about joining and taking advantage of the restaurants “Family Dollar Instant Value Savings Plan!”

(Awfully catchy name, right? 😎 ) And oh so original as well! Anyway, here’s just a few of the many blockbuster type “benefits” that will will be carefully highlighted on the two sided index sized card.

Now they actually offer two separate versions on the same plan! Version (A) which is the most preferred plan, that being the “Platinum Family Dollar Instant Value Savings Plan!”

And it’s just $25 dollars (or X) for the very first year and then it’s just $17.95 to renew every year thereafter! And then there’s the less impressive, (although) still definitely worth considering plan (B) “Gold Family Dollar Instant Savings Plan!”

And it’s just $19.95 ( or X) for the very first year and then $10.95 to renew every year thereafter!And of course, it’s really cool “benefits” and other perks don’t come close to matching those provided in the Platinum package! (Why color me surprise why don’t cha! 😎 )

That being said, here’s their really cool list of five “benefits” below, which will only pertain to the plan (A) version “Platinum Family Dollar Instant Savings Plan!”

1.) Blockbuster benefit #one: First, the adult 18 and over, than enrolls in the plan, they automatically get (a super huge!) “Big Gulp” type of plastic mug,the restaurant will supply, they get to bring with them on every visit and instead of paying retail for a “Big Gulp”, that would normally cost every body else $4.79 each time!

They only pay $.89 cents  (or X) each time!Pretty cool, right?

2.) Blockbuster benefit # two: Next, they and (any and all adults) with them 18 and over, can order breakfast any time they want, no matter what time and or day it is!

Meaning; “if'” it happens to be Thursday evening at 7:30 pm and they and their party of three adults (just happens) to be in the mood for bacon, eggs, coffee and pancakes etc!

They unlike the non members of the “plan” get to order it!(Just imagine the frequent inquiries that will be coming from the other patrons as they watch with envy as the table next to them is ordering “breakfast” at 7:30 pm on a Thursday night! 😎 )

It’s Easy To See Why Some Of The Best Small Business Marketing Strategies Work So Well! (Right?)

 3.) Blockbuster benefit # three: Moving right along:Both they and their adult guest automatically save 25% off any and all deserts they order year round!Plus, the actual card holder automatically gets one free desert and “Big Gulp” beverage of their choice, on their birthday!

Provided they brought their “Big Gulp” plastic cup with them on their birthday!Otherwise,they just pay the usual $.89 cents (and or X.) They still make out,it’s just they make out better when they bring their mug with them on their birthday!

 4.) Blockbuster benefit # four: Here’s where it really gets good for them! Any three kids ten and under, they save in percentages, “what” they actually weigh!

For ex: let’s say a nine year old weighs 73 lbs! That’s “how” much they save off the cost of their bill! Year round mind you! And if they have more than three kids in their party twelve and under, those kids all automatically save 25% off their entire bill as well!

5.) Blockbuster benefit # five: And “finally”, (not really!) Whenever a “Platinum” card holder comes in to take advantage of their many perks! They will be given the chance to share (at least) five 90 day limited) “Platinum new customer only, enrollee plans” with whomever they choose!

And when at least three of them sign up! That years $17.95 annually renewal fee is automatically waved!

Entrepreneur, (here’s) the real point! So please pay close attention! “What” do you think (pray tell) the other (currently non member) Moms and or Grand moms that accompanied them to the restaurant will definitely want to know, as they’re watching all this unfold?Bingo!

    What a clever way to “stretch” out their dollars by giving your most valued customers these types of deals. And you can apply this with any type of business. I see a lot of member sites using this approach. I usually see this when they’re doing upsales whenever you subscribe to their newsletter.

  2. You bring up some really good points. Even though statistically speaking, women are paid less … they do more of the shopping. It’s definitely necessary to cater to them.

  3. As always I am truly inspired by your magnificent mind Mark! Now I appreciate this may be an unspoken assumption, but to my mind no matter what clever marketing tactics that mom and pop restaurant comes up with they better back it up with high quality food and service because typical customers for these establishments are the hard core locals and pricing isn’t always the determining factor in who they support.

    For example there’s a small strip-mall restaurant here that serves local / Hawaiian food. A few years ago they were contemplating closing because they had come to the conclusion they couldn’t afford to compete with the upscale restaurants that had moved here to capture the tourist trade. Well, the local community rallied and they received thousands of letters begging them to stay open! That led to major media coverage when they papered the walls of their restaurant with all the letters! Long story short – they are still in that same location, but they now have 5 other locations around the state – also in strip malls. They have plastic chairs lined out outside on the walkway for all the people waiting to get a table. The thing is, their prices are right up there with the fancier restaurants and they don’t do promotions, but the food is out of this world and when someone here has visitors from the mainland and they want to know the best place for ‘local-style’ food – this restaurant is THE place we take them. Can’t beat – or buy – the loyalty factor. 🙂

      And your earlier points are definitely spot on too! And you’re so right.

      I definitely should have hammered home the fact, that without excellent food and “take no prisoners”
      type of customer service!

      No so called marketing strategies and or tactics, (of any kind!) is really going to save them
      in the long run!

      The other thing is, I can’t count “how” many times I’ve heard and or read about, a so called
      out matched Mom & Pop style local business and or service provider, going head to head with some of the more
      corporate types, and ultimately getting the best of them!

      Primarily because of an outpouring of support from the local community and a little
      creative ingenuity on their part!
