Marketing Strategies: Why Sometimes Doing What's Simple Is Just Way Too Obvious!

Marketing Strategies: Why Sometimes Doing What’s Simple Is Just Way Too Obvious!

Entrepreneur, are you finally ready (mentally) to make more money? Are you sure? Ever heard the phrase, “it’s simple, but not easy?” that’s what you’re about to discover. One of those (oh so) proven marketing strategies, but because it’s so darn (brain dead simple), it’s therefore way too obvious, in order to truly be effective!

That my cash strapped, and near your entrepreneurial wits end friend, is where you are (oh so) wrong! And what’s more. It’s that very short sighted attitude (believe it) or not, that’s negatively affecting your bottom line! And what”s more, if you’re not careful, it’s gonna be the ultimate cause of you going belly up! Seriously…

Because, you’re somehow (constantly) looking for that far too elusive and practically non existent (proverbial) needle in a haystack!

Translated: you seem to think that making more money, has to be some type of super elaborate, overly complicated plan of action in order to be profitable! Word of advice; “get over it already!’

How Come One Of The Simplest Battlefield Proven Marketing Strategies Is Not Part Of You Marketing Arsenal?

Entrepreneur, once you take those costly marketing blinders off! You’ll see that this particular marketing approach/opportunity, is ripe for the taking! Case in point:

Let’s suppose you run a local Mom & Pop sub shop. Of course, you simply substitute whatever your current offline retail business is, in  lieu of this particular example.

And just like your main competitor four blocks away, you too offer one of those price appealing lunch time special deals, that allows your (loyal customers) to get a foot long sub, that would normally retail (by itself) for $7.49!

Plus, a medium soda, that would also normally cost $1.79. During your lunch time hours of 12 noon til 3 pm, M-Sat, they pay just $6.50 for both! Instead of paying the normal retail rate of $9.28, if they bought each separately! In other words, they’re saving 30%! $6.50/$9.28.

But here’s the thing. You (like your competitor), also sell one of those really big (big gulp) type of  large jumbo sodas for $3.49 each. So why not (inexpensively) test selling  it for just $.99 cents, only on your slowest days!Say what?

Why Not Systematically Buy Your Best Repeat Customers Loyalty For Literally Pennies On The Dollar?

Think about “what” that does for just a second! First, if your customers know on  a certain day, they can go to your place instead of your competitors, and get the same exact big gulp, but only pay ninety nine cents, instead of $3.49 or X!

Given that exact same choice, as a consumer, what would you do? Bingo! But here’s the other thing! Do you really believe, they’re only going to buy a big gulp? No way! Sure a few will only take advantage of your super discounted price! But the vast majority of your repeat customers will spend more money right then and there!

Yep! And that my cash strapped entrepreneurial friend, is why this tactic can simply no longer be, one of the most overlooked marketing strategies, in your entire marketing arsenal! Don’t you agree?

  1. Hey Mark,

I can see that working for the Mom and Pop stores for sure if they have a lot of competition that they need to pull those customers from. Then you have someone like me who only drinks water so knock off the price of that bottled water and I’m yours. Oh yeah, this girl will bring her own before I pay those high prices.

Just my case in point of course but you’re right. Give them a little price break and like we do online, test test test.

So if they drastically reduce that over priced glorified bottled water, you’ll come around more often!LOL!
