A Major Reason Why Your Online Business Shouldn’t Just Copy What The Gurus Do!

So let’s be honest, your at times fledgling online business, can’t help but be tempted, by all the hoopla you constantly see, revolving around one of your favorite gurus and or guruettes, right?

Your inbox (and mine ) is constantly flooded, with some supposed case study, where the guru or guruette, successfully did this or that.

And out of the goodness of their hearts, they are only too willing to share their secret sauce discoveries, with the rest of us.

Oh how nice of them.  Don’t you agree.

But here’s what far too often, gets lost in the Internet marketing sauce. What these highly respected, six, seven and eight figure a year -perennial earners-, often fail to properly disclose.

It has literally taken them years of extremely hard work and dedication to reach their level(s) of ongoing success.

And unfortunately,(for all the wannabees online), they simply cannot transfer all of their years of -real world-experience(s), over to the rest of us, simply be producing an MP3 recording, PDF file, webinar and or high ticket course.

Certainly, any and all of those forms of educational material, will definitely shorten our proverbial learning curves. But none of them can totally substitute for actual real world experiences, both good and bad. 

So What Is This Major Reason Your Aspiring Online Business Shouldn’t Just Try And Copy And Paste Your Favorite Gurus Success!

So here’s the real motivation, behind what inspired this particular post. Recently, while I was watching an exclusive, webinar replay, from a group of six, seven and eight figure earners a year.

One of them shared an incredibly powerful story and example, of why you shouldn’t just try and copy & paste, the various on or offline marketing strategies, you see the gurus implementing.

It seems this extremely high profile online marketer, sent this email to one of his list, and it only had two words in the subject line, and according to the guru in question, it allegedly generated a 60% ‘open rate.’

And over the next three days, a gazillion of his high ticket, inner circle subscribers, used the exact same two words in their opt in email messages, and a staggering 97% of them, failed to even generate double digit open rates. Well color me surprise why don’t cha!

Your Online Business Customers And Or Clients Are Unique Individuals Not Cloned Robots!

Just because one particular headline and or opt in email ‘subject line’ worked like gangbusters for one particular marketer, doesn’t automatically mean, it will have the exact same -overall- positive affect, with another marketers list.

And therein lies the real problem here.Huh? Case in point; there is a very famous online marketer, who during the (all important) pre – launch of one of his upcoming paper back books.

He routinely sent one of his main opt in list, about three to four emails per week leading up to the actual day, they could (get this!), opt into another list, for a chance, to not only win a copy of his brand new book, but also get a free 30 minute, no holds barred,one on one consulting session with the guru himself, valued at X!

And as if this wasn’t incentive enough, he also granted this lucky grand 1st prize winner, the legal right to sell, and or promote the 30 minute session, if they wanted to!

Or as he so wisely suggested, they use it instead, as free lead bait, in order to build their very own opt in email/ mobile marketing list, and eventual sales funnel.

There’s Certain Things Your Online Business Can do When You’re Initially Starting Out And Certain Things  You Simply Cannot!

So here’s this seven figure earner a year insider, sharing the full inside story, behind, how one extremely popular guru, generated a 60% ‘open rate’ on a particular marketing campaign.

Now how in the world, is a brand spanking new, and or intermediate online marketer (for that matter), supposed to be able to implement a strategy anywhere near close to that, let alone expect to generate the same high open rate, on one of their email campaigns.

Especially, when they literally have no clue, what really went on behind the scenes, leading up to this one particular email, which generated a 60% open rate.

So hopefully, you can and or, you’re definitely starting to appreciate, why your brand spanking new, and or fledgling online business and or service, shouldn’t by trying to simply copy & paste what you see your favorite guru and or gurette doing?  Don’t you agree?

  1. Your headline just jumped out at me because this topic is such a hot button for me. Oh my, like so many other newbies I burned up so much time trying to follow the advice of the “experts” until I finally gained enough self-confidence to move away from the one-size-fits-all approach to blogging. While the expert you referenced was ethical enough to share why it’s not a good idea to mirror his actions, many more assure unsuspecting people to follow their example in order to succeed. Excellent advice, Mark and I look forward to reading the follow-up.

      But just like you, initially I too tried to follow the guru and or
      guruette of the months, so called proven expert advice, to the letter!LOL!

      And found myself no closer, than when I started!

      Yet oddly enough, my bank account was most definitely
      a tad bit lighter!LOL!

      Live and learn I suppose, right? But like you,I too eventually
      graduated past their, ‘follow me to success mountain’
      teachings!LOL!

      And thank goodness!Because I was frustrated as all get out!
