Just Because There’s An Economic Recession That’s No Excuse Not To Make Money!

So to what degree has the so called economic recession affected your business? Or what about your suppliers or any other vendors?

After all, when your typical consumer has less discretionary income, they tend to spend less money, right? Even the plastic money they borrow at interest rates of 1425%!

Ever notice what happens when you squeeze a closed end balloon? For a little while, as one side contracts, the other side simultaneously expands, right? For a little while anyway. But for savvy entrepreneurs such as yourself, watch how a prolonged nagging economic recession can actually lead to some incredibly profitable long term marketing opportunities and possibilities.

Entrepreneur, you’d be amazed at what a little creativity can do!

Just Because There’s An Economic Recession Is No Excuse Not To Make Money Is it?

For most cash starved small business owners and or service providers, the phrase economic recession is normally equated to a temporary and or prolonged slow down in business, right? And for most small business owners, (and or) service providers, that’s probably true.Right?

But that doesn’t necessarily have to be the case. For ex; whether there’s a nagging local recession going on or not, businesses still need to pay their bills, meet payrolls and advertise, and or market to keep things going, right? Absolutely!

Let’s take two hypothetical companies and see how they might creatively leverage this so called nagging economic recession, to create some extremely profitable potential opportunities. Enter your local corporation that owns several residential apartment buildings and wouldn’t you know it?

They’ve got a few vacancies! They’ve got studio apartments, one, two & three bedroom unfurnished units to fill as well! And the local radio station has salaried employees and sales staff, right?

So the radio station does two things.

1.) They trade a local car dealership $20,000 dollars per month (or X amount of dollars) per month in advertising credits, in exchange for used car and lease payments that total $20,00 dollars per month.

2.) And they also trade $30,000 dollars per year ( or X) to a local corporation that owns apartment buildings, condos and town houses,  in exchange  for that much credit towards rent and leases.

Now whenever they hire new employee/associates, they can offer a lower initial starting salary than their major competition. And still compete by compensating  them with an apartment, condo, and or town house that would normally rent or lease for $850 per month, (or X.)

And instead the new associate and or newly appointed upper management appointee can rent or lease the unit for just $400 dollars per month! Or whatever they agree to.

Plus, if they like, they can also get a company car that’s used or the company can provide them with one of the newer leased company cars!

A Down Turn In Your Local Economy Can Potentially Mean An Increase In Your Income!

This way, the radio stations saves literally thousands of dollars per year in new expenses! And let’s say three years into it, they decide to give one of their managers a raise.

And this manager currently has a spouse and two fairly young kids now. Instead of offering them more money directly. Let’s say this couple were currently leasing a rather nice two bedroom apartment, that would normally rent to the general public for $850 dollars per month, but the employee was only paying $400  per month, and their rent hasn’t been raised in the last three years!

Now because of their barter arrangement with the development corporation, the new cash conscious radio station simply moves the couple into an even nicer, (swank) three bedroom town house, with all the latest amenities!

And even though it would normally rent for a cool $1,350 per month! Guess what? The couple still pays the same monthly rent of just $400 per month or X!

(Which means entrepreneur, their saving a mere $950 dollars per month in normal costs! ($1,350$400 = $950 in savings per month!) Which also means, they just got the equivalent of an $11,400 dollar annual raise! ($950 per month in projected savings x 12 = $11,400 per year in conventional rent or lease payment savings!)

Only instead of seeing an increase in their weekly pay check, instead they realize it by experiencing an $11,400 decrease in their out of pocket expenses!

And by the same token, the radio station (their employer) also saved having to reach into their profits and add an additional $11,400 dollars, to their annual operating expenses!

  1. Hi Mark,

I like the analogy of the balloon that illustrates the economic trends. It is so true Mark.

I believe there is ALWAYS money to be made with a little creativity like you mention here in this post. “One had washes the other” kind of thing.

I’ve lived through the economic recession in the 1970’s and made more money then than ever. Why? Because my creative juices were flowing. There is absolutely no excuse to blame a recession for not making money.

I applied this a long time ago. And still love to make that deal! I was dabbling in real estate investments for the past 20 years too. When the housing market reached an all time low, I grabbed them up. Flipping some, holding on to others. It’s just a matter of knowing the trends of the financial market.

Now we have the internet and can do business as usual. It is a great time because many people are looking to earn extra income, even to start their own businesses.

    Now is the time!

better for a traditional small business owners been able to compete worldwide, against any and every potential competitor!
