You know it’s definitely time for a reality check whenever you (and I!) start systematically confusing something supposedly being easy versus simple. Sure without a doubt certain things you and I routinely do in life are relatively simple.
Others not so much. Like selling (aka) successfully selling your products or services on or offline. Sure any or practically any man or woman whose consistently earning (grossing) six or seven figures a year annually on the initial front end alone.
They will probably say over the years they definitely have condensed their proven processes down enough. To the point they consider ‘what” they do to consistently earn money as relatively simple. The real confusion and distortion rears it’s misleading head when you and I attempt to substitute simple for easy.
And before you know it you have the cart before the horse. It happens all the time entrepreneur. Especially when it comes to successfully marketing online. And suddenly the real world frustration starts to kick in practically all of the time.
Because you and I think because marketer A or B got a certain result in X amount of time. it should automatically work pretty much the exact same way for us. but often it doesn’t, correct?
Here Are Five Surefire Signs You Definitely Have The Cart Before The Horse!
Right out of the gate. You’ve just started your first real social media marketing campaign. because you finally got serious and found a qualified coach or mentor within your current price range. And you’re at least sincerely trying to implement some of what they’re advocating you do.
So let’s say you’ve got 2,145 followers on twitter and you’re only 97 days in. And you’re not utilizing any type of paid tools to help you generate your followers. So it’s pretty much all generated manually for you at this point.
And since you’re only able to average about 60-90 minutes per day. And a little over three hours total on the weekend. Obviously your current results is not going to be able to match a much more experienced marketers results on social media in general and twitter in particular, right?
Yet here you are thinking you should already be approaching 10-12K in followers. And at least $50-$75 or X dollars a day if not more in daily gross income.
But is this truly realistic thinking on your part? You’re actually trying to compare your first 90-120 days of being a glorified beginner. To a far more experienced marketer whose you coach.
And they’re not only selling coaching for X amount per hour. but they also sell low end courses and advanced coaching packages. Plus they’ve been using paid automation tools for at least 2-5 years. (If not more.)
So they’ve really mastered the fundamentals of “how to” use social media marketing strategies in general. And twitter specifically.
Of Course You’re Trying To Be Realistic About Your Long Term results! (Right?)
And then there’s your list building lead generation efforts. even though you’ve been trying to consistently earn money online (part time initially) for the last three plus years.
But you’ve only started trying to build your very own opt in email list using a state of the art, reputable paid email service provider for the last seven months. (And major congrats BTW for finally starting to professionally build your list.)
but here’s the thing. One of the professional (not to mentioned!) incredibly experienced marketers you’ve not only been carefully following for the last seven months.
They not only have developed at least five different lists. But the list you’re currently own has 31,647 opt in subscribers. And they’ve strategically tested ‘subject lines” and different lead magnet giveaways.
They’ve also done more than their fair share email swaps with other far more experienced email marketers. They’ve also done a ton of strategic guest blogging and guest podcasting over the years.
And a ton of podcast guest swaps on relevant podcasts. Where they agree to appear on a podcasters show in exchange for the podcasters being on theirs.
And their youtube channel is over nine years old and they currently have 8,743 subscribers and steadily growing.
Entrepreneur There’s Definitely Valid Reasons Why Certain Marketers Consistently Generate Results! (While Others Don’t!)
Quickly getting back to this particular marketer who you’re a current subscriber on their list. It’s definitely taken them a ton o time and consistent effort to generate a current opt in email subscriber base of 31,647.
And typically whenever they send either one of their pre written email follow up campaign messages. Or one of their periodic unscheduled, extremely time sensitive “broadcast” email messages.
They usually get a 35% open rate. Which means usually 11,076 open the first messages. (31,647 x .35% = 11,076 subscribers initially open their initial email.)
(And X % click their main link and purchase something.) But since they also know to send a follow up email message to the remaining 20,570 who for whatever reason(s) didn’t open their first email message.
And of course they also know to change their ‘subject line, (strategic A/B split testing at it’s finest.) On average another 35 or X% will open their second (follow up) email messages.
Which means an additional 7,199 – or X number of their- subscribers open their strategic follow up message. ( 20,570 x .35% = an additional 7,199 not only open their follow up email message.)
But a certain percentage of them also make some type of purchase as well. (Clearly you can see and appreciate “how” their long term gross front and back end profits add up, right?)
If Your Trust Or Likeability Factors Are Nowhere Near The Marketers Or Coaches You’re Currently Following! (How In The World Can Your Current Results Come Anywhere Near Matching Theirs?)
Honestly since your current op in email subscriber base is only 181. (Which truth told is far more than the average online marketers is. ) And your current open rates are basically 17%. (Rounded off for ease of calculation and hypothetical marketing illustration purposes only.)
So let’s quickly run your current email open rate numbers. Your current pre-written opt in email sequence is currently at seven. And to date you’re not periodically sending any previously unscheduled “broadcast” email messages.
So out of your 181 opt in subscribers. Typically 13 or X% initially open it up. ( 181 x .13% = 23.4, rounded off to 23 for ease of calculations.) And since your CTR (Click Through Rate) is just 11%.
Out of the 23 which initially opened your email message. Only 2.53 subscribers. (Rounded off to two for ease of calculation.) No matter what you’re currently marketing or promoting. Be it your own products or services.
Or another marketers high end products or services as an affiliate. How can you possibly expect to come anywhere near the more experienced marketers results? Especially given your time frame.
Is it finally starting to make more sense ‘why” you’re definitely putting the cart before the horse? If you’re expecting to have the same or close to the same results as the men & women who are way ahead of you.
