How To Make Your Small Business Standout When There Really Isn't Anything Too Special About It! Part Two

How To Make Your Small Business Standout When There Really Isn’t Anything Too Special About It! Part Two

Now ( hopefully) as you previously discovered in part one of this ongoing series about “how”some  extremely resourced challenged small business owners, (and or service providers too BTW!can still strategically manage to position themselves a whole lot better and differentiate themselves from their major competitors.

Even when, truth told, there just isn’t anything that’s too special about them, to begin with (on the surface) anyway! Because, even with that being the case, believe it or not, they can (and definitely) should look for some non expensive, creative -think outside the box- ways to subtly separate themselves from the pack!

And as you recall in part one, that’s exactly what our hypothetical Mom & Pop breakfast, lunch and dinner  small business owner did, in order to start to gain some solid, long term and hopefully rather inexpensive (positive) on and offline word of mouth buzz!

Because unlike their extremely well financed Madison Avenue (corporate) counter parts, they simply can’t roll out a multi million dollar, multi medium platform (glitzy) ad campaign, at the drop of a hat! So let’s see “what” else this extremely savvy, resourced challenged small business  owner can come up with.

To effectively compete.

That (hopefully) involves more creativity and less outrageously expensive (not to mention) resource draining traditional advertising dollars, in order to successfully pull off!

So How In The World Can Your Resource Challenged Small Business Consistently Stand Out From Your Major Competitors When Truth Told There Just Isn’t Anything Too Special About Your Business To Begin With?

So now let’s pick up some steam and see “how” our hypothetical Mom & Pop small business diner can systematically (and hopefully inexpensively) go about strategically differentiating themselves from the pack.

First, since they decided to inexpensively test serving this really upscale (and normally) way more expensive gourmet style coffee to their customers. Next they will actively go out into the community and specifically look  for any type of local groups (preferably womens groups) that routinely meet, say once a month, but much more preferably once per week and or every other week!

So for ex: let’s say they locate a couple of really nice women groups, that just so happen to meet once a month to discuss and read poetry and other famous and well known and extremely well liked (local) and internationally acclaimed authors books etc!

Excellent! And the other ladies group, gets together a little more frequently, (currently) it’s once every other week (or twice a month) to discuss various exotic food, wines and travel plans they have in the works etc.

And of course the latest fashions that are trending!

Hopefully, (at least one) of them, but preferably, they both have active (self) hosted WordPress blogs. And one of it’s more active members frequently posts really cool updated content to their sites! You know, stuff like pictures or short video clips of,local  food bazaars and wine tasting or fashion show/jewelry events, that they’ve recently attended and or plan on attending etc. Bingo!

Effective Positioning Is A Whole Lot Easier When You Push The Right Hot Buttons Of Your Target Audience!

Here’s “why” that’s potentially beneficial to your business. You will offer these ladies all the free gourmet coffee and (really) fancy pasties, donuts, croissants and the like, that they can eat, whenever they come to your place to meet for breakfast, lunch or dinner! Huh?

Provided, when they take to the likes of twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Pintrest etc,  guess what?

That’s right! They mention your place! And they take some really cool photos (and videos) of your “pastry/gourmet coffee of the day, week or month” etc! Think about for a second. This ever growing in local influence, ladies book clubs, starts to gather once a month and now it’s routinely twenty attendees strong!

And they start routinely tweeting out (both ) pictures and some really cool videos, and they also post on FB and Instagram pictures of some of your excellent pastries and they start routinely blogging about “how” excellent and extremely affordable your particular gourmet coffee is!

Entrepreneur, over time, probably within six short month or less, where do you think more and more local women’s groups (and others) will want to start meeting! You got that right! And then they start routinely buying (both) your pastries and gourmet coffee to give to local friends and family members for their birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and Xmas and new years etc!

Hopefully, you are starting to see and appreciate “how” this type of relatively inexpensive ninja style marketing approach, can not only help them differentiate themselves from the other local Mom & Pop small business diners.

But how they will start strategically and rather inexpensively growing your positive word of mouth army as well! You can see that right? Good! Because in part three, we’ll delve even deeper! Until then…
