How Paying Really Close Attention To The Right Numbers Can Help Your Small Business Grow Really Fast!

So (entrepreneur) “how” long have you been passionately pursuing your entrepreneurial dream, of not only running your very own successful business and or service, but having the enormously gratifying pleasure, of watching your extremely hard work and dedication pay off?

There’s tons of practical automation tools and (on and offline) personal networking opportunities, plus you can always invest a few of your limited, but hard earned dollars to help you along as well, correct?

For sure, your cash starved small business and or service, has lots of practical tools and or marketing strategies and or tactics, to help you along your way, correct? For sure.

However, in far too many cases, far too many aspiring entrepreneurs, (especially in the beginning),often run right past, some of the most obvious ways and or proven methods, that take at least 95% of the (potentially fatal) guess work out of successfully running their own business or service!

And instead, try to rely on their gut or (not yet) totally reliable instincts, in order to make sound decisions! And more times than not, (that is), until they get the proper seasoning, their gut and or instinct, leads them astray!Too bad!

So Can Paying Really Close Attention To The Right Numbers Really Help You Grow Your Cash Strapped Small Business And or Service Faster?

Ladies & gentlemen, hopefully you’ve been around the proverbial block, more than once, so you (already) know and recognize, (practically) everything in life in general, and or business in  particular, is never (or rarely) ever, as straight forward (black & white), as some would try and indicate it is!

On the other hand, while certain facts and or figures, on the surface alone, can potentially be (and or quickly) become, slightly to downright misleading!

In other instances, by simply taking the time and effort, to truly dig a little deeper, often times, the basic understanding of certain numbers, facts and or figures, can and definitely will allow you, or help you to make, (for the most part), the right decision, at any particular time.

Case in point,(recently) while on a highly intense, one on one power consultation, with my Internet marketing coach extradonaire! The one and only, James McAllister of helpstartmysite.com fame.

He was painstakingly, walking me through some of the (really) key numerical metrics, of “how to” properly and effectively, interpret some of my (current) Google analytic figures!

And several times, he helped me avoid misinterpreting, “what” my numbers, were clearly shouting from the rooftops! And man was it ever, a much needed wake up call and then some! Thanks a bunch coach!

(Extremely important note: Entrepreneur, don’t let anyone ever try and kid you, by suggesting, if you don’t pay really close attention, to some of the key metrics, powerful free software, (like) Google analytics provides! It somehow doesn’t matter! My friend, that is a complete load!)

After James pointed out a few keep metrics to closely monitor going forward, (see the screen shot shown just below), I quickly realized ‘how” the numbers, be they “what” they may, still provided a free detail road map, for helping me to the next level, with a whole lot less trial & error and pure speculation on my part!

How Paying Really Close Attention To The Right Numbers Can Help Your Small Business Grow Really Fast!

Successfully Marketing Your Small Business And Or Service Doesn’t Have To Be Overly Complicated!(And Or Feel With Speculation!)

Without getting too far into it, (basically during our recent (one on one) power consultation session, (my Internet marketing expert Coach) James McAllister, was painstakingly walking me through some of the  key metrics, with regards to where the vast majority of my current, free (organic) traffic is coming from.

Notice something really interesting, (at least) two of my top ten free traffic sources, are currently being generated by two of my other expert Coaches! Who knew?

One being my expert (free) targeted generating traffic coach, Janice Wald, of mostlyblogging.com fame! And the other is (the one and only) Donna Merrill of of DonnaMerrilltribe.com fame!

And of course rounding out my top then top ten free traffic sources, are (the one and only) Marquita Herald of emotionallyresilientliving.com fame, and powerhouse expert blogger, and Internet marketer, Sue Anne Dunlevie of successfulblogging.com fame.

And it was this point into our (highly educational session), James masterfully pointed out, and (strongly recommended as well), if nothing else,I should  definitely keep blog commenting on at least those particular sites!

Also did you happen to notice, (the ever so brilliant) Enstine Muki of Enstinemuki.com fame, his site also rounds out my top ten free traffic sources? So I definitely wanna keep studying and applying what I learn from his expertise, as well as continue commenting on his highly educational blog posts as well!

Keep In Mine Th Ultimate Size Of Your Small Business And Or Service Will Ultimately Be Decided By The Size And Level Of Your Personal Commitment!

Throughout our entire session, James freely shared a ton of incredibly useful tid bits, that are extremely applicable to your on or offline success! And without a doubt, I can’t recommend him, his level of service, expertise and or products any higher! As I’m a registered affiliate of his as well! But the real (applicable) points I wish to leave you with are these!

The numbers (metrics) of your business, are “whatever” they are! Just try not to be (either in denial, (like I was!), before my coach, helped me take the blinder off!

And try not to let them mislead you, because you really don’t totally understand, exactly “what” they truly mean! Because both of those mishandling of the numbers, can and will come back to bite you in the end! And in my particular case, had it not been for my expert coaches enormous insights, and current experience! I (sadly) would have remained totally in the dark!Ouch!

And like a lot of  extremely dedicated online marketers, I simply couldn’t see, “what” I simply couldn’t see! So (word to the wise!) Let the numbers be a stepping stone for your small business and or service, and not an albatross! You know “what” I’m saying? Now as is customary during this part of our show.

  2. Wow, how cool is that?! I admit it! I don’t pay nearly enough attention to the numbers. I do look at how the posts are doing, peak traffic days, etc., but not deeply enough into the source of the traffic, so this is a great reminder Mark.

  3. Hi Mark,

Like you, I was lived in denial about the metrics of my business. That is not good juju! Running a business on purpose is knowing your numbers. Hopefully, your readers heed your advice.

For me there are internal and external stats to track. I get clear on everything from how much it costs to run my business each month, but also everything from my mailing list subscribers, clicks, opens, traffic, conversions…all those things that might make your head swim. Also, how I felt about those offers I made, all that work I did, all the content I created. I take time each month (more often is ideal) to take my internal temperature. For the external stats, I create a dashboard (my fancy word for my not so fancy spreadsheet). This is where I list out all the things I want to check on monthly and then more often if you’re in the middle of a something. The key to making this dashboard is tracking the right things.

    • That is a totally awesome and extremely necessary process you’re describing Rachel!

And without a doubt, within one session, you pretty much know exactly where you stand! And more importantly,
going forward, you where to devote more time and financial resources!

And equally important, where not to! I’d bet money, you could create, (either) a free lead generating
5 to 7 day boot camp, where you walk your audience through the process you just described, and at
the end, offer your ready made spread templates, as part of some paid one on one coaching
program, where you guide them step by step, through how to properly track the various metrics
      of their business!

Or you could just offer a free 90 minute Q & A webinar on the front
end, and some beginning to advanced paid coaching on the back end and your audience
would probably learn a ton about the real world and love you for sharing and exposing them to it!

Thanks so much for giving us a glimpse behind the curtain! I think may need to do a post and
just reference you and your blog!LOL! Thanks!
