Five Ways To Increase Retail Sales Without Being A Marketing Guru!Part Two

As you previously discovered in part one, it’s always best to have a proven systematic   approach to consistently increasing retail sales, don’t you agree? And once you have a potential  paying customer inside your store, especially for the very first time.

Don’t automatically presume, that just because you’ve provided decent customer service,  (which is definitely ) a must BTW, that will automatically translate into repeat customers!

Because sadly, that may or may not be the case! They’re constantly being bombarded, both on  and offline, with propositions to spend their discretionary income now!

So you and I, had  better have some very compelling “reasons” (that make sense to them)  for  them to (A.)  spend some money now! And (B.) keep coming back, recommending us to  friends and family members, and spend even more money over time!

And try our new products and or services etc!And become “hard core” self appointed advocates  in the process!

And thereby constantly spreading the “word” both on and offline 24/7!

A tall order for sure! And contrary to “what” you might have been told and or read!It ain’t gonna happen overnight! But a powerful first step in that direction is to make that all important, “positive” first impression! And build your long lasting relationship from there!

So How The Heck Do You Increase Retail Sales When Being A Marketing Guru Simply Isn’t In Your DNA?

Picking up where part one left off. Let’s quickly explore a few more potential marketing twists, you can and (definitely) should explore, with regards to successfully implementing (or at least), initially inexpensively testing this daily “first five customers club” marketing concept!

The “first five” daily customers to enter your store and or place of business. Both you and your savvy cashiers should constantly be on the lookout for subtle indications of “how” your business can be elevated in their eyes.

For instance, (pay close attention) to the ladies that enter your shop.Do they have a wedding ban on or do they have any kids a certain age with them?

The primary reason being, you might want to see if forming some sort of “kids club” is worth pursuing. Or maybe a “first five customers birthday club” of some kind, is at all worth the effort.

In which case, you’ll create special color coded two sided (laminated) index cards, and each day you’re open, the “first five” or X number of potential customers that enter your store, you’ll pass these out to those customers and (briefly) explain to them the main “benefits.”

Curious To Know How To Increase Retail Sales And Profits Even During A Nagging Recession?

One of which is, any time over the next year (12 months from the hand written date on the index card), they automatically save (say) 10% off any purchase, but they automatically save an additional 10% (for a grand total of 20% off), every purchase, every time they bring a new potential first time customer with them, whose over 18!

Plus, once a month, one of the lucky lady “first time customer club members” that brings a potential new customer with them to your store, they automatically win in a sort of random “free drawing” just to ethically bribe and reward them for constantly bringing potential new first time customers to your store.

They automatically  win a $50 dollar gas coupon!

And (each month) the top female “first time customer club member” that brings the most potential new first time customers with them in one month, they automatically win  $75 dollars in gas cards too!

Or if your “lifetime customer value” calculation indicates that you definitely can afford to spend more, to create even more long term goodwill, then make it a $100 dollar gas card! 😉

(Note:Of course it goes without saying, there are definitely a few rather fancy marketing strategies you could pursue, just in case, your current “lifetime customer and or total customer value” calculations, doesn’t yet warrant investing $100 dollars or more in a particular marketing strategy!)

However, this first (all important) leg of the strategy, is to aggressively go after the low hanging fruit marketing opportunities. And gradually get more and more sophisticated and involved as you go!

The other  really cool“benefit” to being a “first five customer club member” is, right on the card, it tells them they are entitled (and highly) encouraged, once a year to come to your store, before their 12 month anniversary date comes and goes, and they can purchase any one product of their choice, under (say) $1,000 dollars and they get to purchase it at your actual cost!

It’s Not Hard To Actually Increase Retail Sales Just Extremely Challenging To Expand Your Mind On The Possibilities Of Doing So!

And if it’s something over $1,000 dollars, then you’ll need to inexpensively price test, in order to discover which savings percentage consistently produces the most bang for your buck!

And any new potential first time customer (over 18) they bring with them, the guest automatically saves 25% on, any products they purchase, that are priced under $499 dollars, but they automatically save 40% off, on any purchases $500 dollars or more!

And if you decide to go with (either) opt in email and or text messaging capabilities, you can text message your “first five customer club” members, special VIP alert notices, alerting that the first “FFCM” that enter your store on some specific date, automatically get $25 dollar gift certificates courtesy of one of the top local family style restaurants and or barbecue places etc! 😎

The point is, you periodically pamper them and they’ll systematically  help you increase retail sales!Don’t you agree? Now in part three, we’ll go even further, detailing “how to” strategically cash in big time, with this incredibly versatile marketing concept!Until then…

  1. Although marketing might not be in our DNA, finding bargains very often is, whatever our income. I subscribe to a lot of retail shop emails but I filter most of them into a read later folder. Otherwise I become too distracted. I’ll occasionally look at the latest to see if the title stands out then delete the rest. I’ve recently reinstalled my email client and rather than import filters have been unsubscribing from a huge amount. The only few that I do keep in my inbox are those who regularly offer discounts or rewards.
