Five Simple Reasons Why Even Though You Sign The Checks You're Still Not The Boss!

Five Simple Reasons Why Even Though You Sign The Checks You’re Still Not The Boss!

So ladies & gentlemen, here’s a quick question for you. Even though you most certainly sign the checks and pay the bills. (Good for you.) You do recognize the fact that you’re not the boss, right?

It’s vitally important that you totally grasp this all important, yet extremely subtle distinction. Otherwise, you may find your self up a certain creek, without the proverbial paddle. Seriously. It’s far too simple and alluring to think that being the self titled CEO of your deal, really equates to having some real power of the sorts.

Sorry to break the (oh so) bad news cadets! But it most assuredly does not! But hey, don’t leave mad. You still play a vitally important role. Just not quite as large as your Atlantic ocean size ego, initially led you to believe.

Case in point; a while back, a buddy of mine shared some snippets of this interview (he heard- that involved two fairly popular hip hop artist. Now personally, this particular style of music is not my preferred music of choice.

(And absolutely nothing against those that do happen to enjoy it!)

But what one of the artist said with regards to the other, caught my buddies attention (and according to him), made him instantly think of me. Okay!

Anyway, the one artist that also (just happens) to have and run his very own successful music label, said (during the interview) that the basic difference between him and these artists that he was trying to resolve a legal matter with, was.

They write lyrics, while he writes checks! Bingo! (His underlying point being, while they mistakenly thought what they did put in them in  charge, in reality it did not!) And so it goes with so many otherwise extremely savvy entrepreneurs!

Just because you may very well sign the checks, that does not make you (or I) the boss!

So What Are These Five incredibly Simple Reasons That Even Though You Sign The Checks You”re Still Not Really The Boss?

So you really think (just) because you sign the checks and  call yourself the CEO (Chief Operating Officer), that makes you the boss, huh? Entrepreneur, get with the program already.

So just in case you’ve forgotten the ill mortal words of the late great Sam Walton, founder of the Walmart empire! Sam basically reminded us all, “there is only one person that can fire everyone from the CEO on down! And that person is the customer!”

Still not convinced, that your customers and or clients (on or offline) are really the ones in ultimate control! Then here’s a very simple (yet eye opening) exercise/challenge for you! For the next 90 days, run your business and or service without any customers and or clients!

Not so easy is it? Now that you’ve possibly had an ever so slight change of heart! Take a look at these five incredibly simple reasons, why signing the checks, definitely makes you the owner  and (or one of) the business owners, but not necessarily the boss!

1.)  Simple reason # one: Entrepreneur (please!) be extremely honest here! When a first time (and or) repeat visitor -for that matter- decides to leave your site. Is there really any way to force them to come back?

Not to be confused with trying your utmost to try and compel and or persuade them to come back! Of course the brutally honest short answer is no! But your the big bad boss, right?

2.) Simple reason # two: Next, (in a typical offline situation), whenever a first time caller, calls your business. Is there any way to force them to drop by your store for the very first time? Preferably in the next three days or less?

Choose any marketing gimmick and or strategies you want! But can you really (in all honesty) compel them to visit your store/shop? Once again, the brutally honest answer is no!

3.) Simple reason # three: Moving right along: can you really force a paying repeat customer and or client to refer anybody to your business? Nope!

Paying The Bills And Being The Actual Boss Are Two Separate Things!

(Don’t You Agree?)

Again, don’t confuse (hopefully) compelling and or ethically bribing them to do so, with being able to somehow force them to do so! Hopefully by now, you’re starting to catch on!

If not, real impending danger lurks just ahead!

4.) Simple reason # four: Or “what” about this; can you really force a first time visitor (or any visitor) for that matter, to join your all important opt in email list?

You know, (truth told) to this point, you’re really not doing so good with this “I’m the boss” approach stuff! Don’t you agree?

5.) Simple reason # five: And finally; can you keep any of your  (all important) opt in subscribers from, unsubscribing, any time they wish to? (PSST. if you can, I’d like to sign up for your course and or mentoring program asap!)

What’s that? “Oh you can’t seem to figure out “how to” do that either!” Bummer! Any way, ladies & gentlemen, while it’s nice as well as a complete turn on, and an ego trip and a half  to refer to your (our selves) as the CEO, The Boss or whatever term currently floats your boat!

And while it’s certainly true that you do in fact pay most, if not all of the bills! Let’s not get that extremely important role confused with, who’s actually the boss! Okay? Now then, as is customary in this part of our show!

  1. Hello Mark, I want to share with you what the definition of “boss” was for an Internet Marketing friend I have who has been doing this for a while.

He said that, you’re REALLY the boss, when you can leave your business entirely for two or even three months and your business not only does not decreases in sales but it still continues to keep growing.

It’s a very difficult thing to achieve but to me, that sounds like a clear definition of who’s the boss (regarding of who or where your clients are or even, who is writing the checks)

    Cheers man!
