Five Reasons Why Some Of Your Best Small Business Marketing Ideas Include Using Newsletters!

So entrepreneur how many different newsletters (and or) paid subscriptions (on or offline) do you currently have? Just curious. Because you know, you can tell an awful lot about the entrepreneurs long term commitment to success, just by the actual number of paid newsletter subscriptions, they may or may not have.

And the flip side of the coin being, since the really committed will definitely be paid subscribers, doesn’t it make sense that some part of your long term small business marketing plans include some type of newsletter paid and or free?

After all, if someone is willing to invest their hard earned money in a paid newsletter subscription of some kind, are they not the best and most logical choice, for any and all future sales?

Absolutely! So let’s take a closer look at five extremely practical reasons why your business, product and or service, just might benefit from some type of periodic newsletter being published. Paid and or otherwise.

Introducing Five Potentially Profitable Reasons Why Some Of Your Best Small Business Marketing Ideas Should Definitely Include The Strategic Use Of Newsletters!

First off, your newsletter doesn’t have to be some over the top Madison avenue type of production, in order to be effective! Quite the opposite is true BTW!

Because your subscribers (especially) the paying ones, they’re primarily more interested in your newsletters overall content quality. Would you not agree? So it’s not about how often you publish, or how many total words you publish per issue, (although it definitely helps to be consistent), instead it’s whether or not your content helps your audience solve their major problems or not.

And periodic newsletters are really great for professionals such as lawyers, CPA, CFP”s, Doctors of all kinds, especially those in private practice, lawyers, chiropractors or dentist etc.

You can make announcements or address current industry issues from a professionals point of view etc. And you can also announce up coming events as well.

That said; let’s quickly take a look at five potentially profitable reasons why you might seriously want to consider publishing some type of newsletter.

1.) Potential benefit # one: By periodically publishing some type of newsletter, this gives you the perfect opportunity (and space) to thoroughly educate your customers and or clients about any new potential products, procedures and or services.

And address the main concerns of you target audience. And let’s face it, the more practical decision making knowledge that your potential consumers and or clients have, the more likely they are to purchase from you!

As a direct result of the education you’ve provided!

2.)  Potential benefit # two: Any time you can drive a certain amount your audience online and start sending an electronic (digital) version of your newsletter and stop spending an ever increasing fortune on typesetting, postage and envelop cost etc.

You’re saving a  fortune over time. Because (say for the sake of example) that you’ve worked hard and built an offline database of 10,000 strong!

And once a month you physically mail them your  paid newsletter, which currently retails for $97 dollars for twelve monthly issues.

And you offer the exact same information online for just $47 dollars! and a few really cool free digital bonuses of some kind! But now the main  difference is, you just eliminated your monthly postage and envelop and the paper it’s actually printed on. So those savings can now be reinvested back into growing your business even faster!

Which means you can now gross the same monthly amount as before, but have a much greater chance of generating at least some form of monthly gross profit! Which is much more preferable! Don’t you agree?

Just Make Sure There Is Some Type Of News In Your Newsletter And You’ll Be Fine!

3.)  Potential benefit # three: You can strategically use a free three month extension to your newsletter for every paid referral!

4.)  Potential benefit # four: You can give a free three month subscription extension for every testimonial! (Preferably by video!)

5.)  Potential benefit # five: You can showcase different members (your paying customers) in every issue and help them grow their business in exchange for the same exposure on (either) their WordPress blog and or on the back of their flyers etc.

The point is, practically any serious long range small business marketing plan, just might benefit from the publishing of some type of newsletter! Don’t you agree?

  1. Hi Mark,

Newsletters can be pretty powerful! I like Number One the best. We can directly give our target audience some good information. Not too much lol..but just enough for them to keep on reading.

Then…we can keep them posted to what they may need for their business ..that’s when we can give them a good sales pitch.

    -Donna

    • Oh yes!

I quite agree Donna! It’s almost like having the as an email subscriber in
      a sense.
Because like you pointed out, you can educate them enough to hopefully generate more
      future sales.

And then as you also pointed out, keep then up to date. If you’ve the energy and can
consistently find the time, the potential profitability make it well worth the effort involved.

Thanks so much as always for adding to the conversation by way of your extremely valuable input
      and for continuous support!

I truly appreciate both! And I hope 2015 and beyond continues to rock for you & David!

  2. I must confess to having mixed feelings about newsletters. I’ve signed up for many, and unsubscribed from all but two professional newsletters I’ve kept for years.

Still, I do see the value and have been thinking about publishing either a newsletter or quarterly digital magazine at some point in 2015. You know how ‘VISUAL’ I am, so the attraction of the digital magazine is that I could fully be my artsy-fartsy self.

Thanks for the great ideas and inspiration. Happy New Year Mark!

    • You’re so welcome M!

And right back at ya in terms having a happy new year and
the best to you and yours in 2015 and beyond!

You know M, based on your extremely honest comments and sort of mixed feelings towards
self publishing your very own digital newsletter, (and who can blame you!)
self publishing like consistently blogging can be a bit trying at times!

But you’ve sort let cat out of the bag!

Because truth told, when that’s your feelings about self publishing (then my feelings ) are, so why not sort of
do the very best next thing.

Meaning find a few non compete (and proven trustworthy!) individuals that do self publish
and offer something of yours to them as a free sweetener (bonus) product for their customers, signing up
      early for this or that.

A free chapter or chapters podcast of something you’ve already done and of course do some sort lead capture in
the product! offer your own free drawing etc.

And if their customers provide some form of testimonial, for attending a webinar and or
tele-seminar, you know the drill etc!LOl! They get your free goody (s) as a bonus.

My main point being, if self publishing really isn’t your style, by all means don’t fight it,
instead creatively leverage (JV) in some way with those that already are successfully publishing
      or about to etc.

Because you’ve both got (indirectly) similar audiences. That’s what I’m going to mention
      in part two!LOL!

So thanks a bunch for such an honest real world dialogue!LOl!

BTW, I would absolutely, positively love your feedback on the post I wrote
Friday, 12-26, The headline mentions 7th graders and how they can potentially help us
(believe it or not) define being successful.

To date it’s gotten the most Google Plus shares! The positive feedback made me feel like
      a guru for the day!LOL!

Oh what a feeling!LOL! Anyway M, thanks as always for your excellent feedback and
      continuous support!

Both are greatly appreciated! And all the best with your projects going forward!
