Honestly, have you ever or when was the last time that you spent money on some type offline paid advertising? I don’t know, maybe it was one of those outrageously expensive billboard type of advertisements.

Or maybe you tried (and quickly) got over your appetite for local radio ads. Have you ever attempted to produce ads for local TV spots. And of course, there’s always old faithful, your local newspaper and or local penny saver publication etc.

In any event, when you really stop and consider all of the pro’s and cons, the right type of market tested online marketing strategies, can and definitely will put you in the drivers seat.

Provided you follow through and apply several basic, proven online marketing fundamentals. However, suppose you’ve got the cash to invest in some of those fancy local radio ads and you also buy a few half or quarter page display ads in (either) your local newspaper and or specialty magazines etc.

Now obviously, this will depend on whether or not, your company is a deep pocket corporate entity or not, with tons of available cash to throw at the general public! For quite a while too!

But let’s say that you’re the typical (cash starved) small business owner and or service provider. Which means, you simply don’t have the luxury of throwing tons of cash at the general public!

And pounding your marketing message into our collective heads! Instead, you’ve got to be select and extremely cost conscious.

1.)  Online marketing advantage # one: Let’s start with your typical state of the art blog, whether it’s WordPress or otherwise. Entrepreneur, consider these three additional ways to benefit from your online presence.

Especially if you or your business is not quite a household name yet!

A.) Your blog post can and maybe linked to by many other online marketers, with no additional cost to you!

How many extra runs do you think your local newspaper (or local TV station for that matter) will give you for free! (Who knows, maybe one of the web’s major influencer’s like Don Purdum of unveiltheweb.com fame, decides to link to your article and share it with his highly targeted audience of entrepreneurs.)

B.) Another entrepreneur can add your  video to to their blog post and therefore (hopefully) drive additional highly targeted free traffic back to your blog.

C.) You can simply guest blog post on as many other entrepreneurs highly targeted blogs, as you can get permission to.

2.)  Online marketing advantage # two: Next, a potential joint venture partner/ entrepreneur can contact you via email and start a (hopefully) profitable long term business and or customer/client relationship of some kind.

4.)  Online marketing advantage # four: Another entrepreneur (hopefully) several of them will decide to consistently socially bookmark your extremely helpful content. How often do you think a radio listener forwards your radio or newspaper ads!

5.)  Online marketing advantage # five: And even if very few of your blog post ever rank extremely high in the major search engines, primarily Google, your post are still located on your blog. Are they not?

And brand new potential prospects can still share them on the various social media platforms! You can still re-purpose them and reach brand new potential prospects, customers and clients etc.

And other savvy marketers can add your blog posts links to either their pod casts, free and paid ebooks, plus add your links to their video presentations or somewhere in the their (all important) follow up email  marketing campaign sequences.

And again, introduce to you to a whole new potential audience, with no increase in out of pocket costs to you!

    I haven’t had a lot of success with paid advertising, online or offline. However I will probably be giving it a try again when I launch my product – “soon”!

    • May be there’s a reason for your advertising results thus far.

      Meaning, it may be a sign that you should go more of the cross promotion joint venture route.

      Why waste precious cash on speculative ads, when you could find (with a little digging) another
      non competitive entrepreneur and or company that it might more sense for you to combine financial resources
      in such a way that it makes way more economic sense for them to help you
      promote your book!

      It’s at the very least, definitely worth exploring the possibilities!

      That’s why I mentioned that you should seriously look
      into becoming a active member of our B3 (Biz Blogging Buzz) community!

      Because you never who you may be able to network (JV) with or who they may know,
      that they could personally introduce you to at some point!

      Now or in the not so distant future! Being active in an entrepreneurial setting such as that,
      is marketing leverage on steroids! And cost you nothing more than your time and active commitment!

      Think it over! Because you never know who can strategically scratch your back and
      vice versa!

  2. I sometimes toss in $10 or $20 into Facebook ads a month, but most of the time it’s all based on the work I’ve done over the years to connect with other bloggers. Years ago, I ran a huge community that did comment exchanges and many of the bloggers that were in that community and still blog today, even though the blogosphere has changed, have helped grow my site.

    Networking with the right people and definitely being mentioned/ linked back helps… even far more than paying to advertise.

      A blog comment exchange. In essence, isn’t that what the B3 community is? granted, there are several
      members such as yourself that we flat out experts in their chosen niche.

      But for the most part, B3 and other blog commenting syndicates are great way to network and tap the expertise
      of others, while simultaneously sharing our content and expanding our reach for very little cost.

      Building relationships is huge! and the benefits are long lasting and many.

      I whole heartily agree with your assessment.Power networking with the right people is far more effective than
      throwing your hard earned dollars around!
