Why This Every Door Direct Mail Marketing Tactic Is A Really Bad Idea!

(Three Simple Reasons A Cash Starved Struggling Small Business Owner Shouldn’t Use It!)

So have you ever truly had any marketable success, using any type of (probably) expensive (unsolicited) direct mail marketing campaign? Really? You have!

Because most cash starved, struggling small business owners and or service providers, that attempt this every door direct mail marketing campaign stuff. Well, let’s just say, they spent way more than they ever made. But certainly, all is not lost. And yes (entrepreneur) there is most certainly a time and a place for direct -snail- mail marketing.

It’s just probably not a good idea when you’re first starting out, and you’re  relatively (unknown) in your local community and money (along) with your other extremely valuable resources, is extremely tight!

Three Reasons Why You Definitely Want To Avoid The Rather Expensive Every Door Direct Mail Marketing Tactic!

(At Least In The Beginning!)

Now before going any further! Let’s add a disclaimer. (If you happen to be in any type of mega cash generating business, such as you rehab single family owner occupied houses. Or you buy or rehab duplexes or apartment buildings etc!)

In which case, since just one person that responds to your 5 or 10 thousand piece mailing, could potentially make anywhere from a $10K -$60K gross profit! Fine! This post definitely doesn’t refer to you! It’s intended for the other 99%!

That said….. Here’s your three reasons.

1.) Reason # one: Picture this. You pull up to your local gas station, as just as you exit your car ( in sort of a hurry no less) in order to pay for your gas and head off on your way. A complete stranger attempts to hand you some type of brochure on (you fill in the blank!)

Honestly, what’s your gut kneed reaction? Bingo! First off, do you even know this person? Let alone, like or trust them! Second: Did you ask for this brochure? Nope!

What’s the lesson? Entrepreneur, in the beginning; do not send any piece of direct mail to  a complete stranger, unless they ask for it! Which means, strike that every door direct mail marketing campaign stuff off your list! (That is, if you’re really serious about making money!)

2.) Reason # two: Entrepreneur, does it really make sense for you to send (mail) an unsolicited brochure about your simply “to die for” beef lasagna recipe, if the recipient is a devout vegetarian? Nope!

So what’s the lesson? “How” can you or anybody else effectively target your products or services benefits, when you simply blanket an area of complete strangers, that have no about “who” you are and what potential benefits can be gained by becoming a customer or client!

Especially, when you have no idea, what their specific wants or needs are!

3.) Reason # three: You’ll do far better and generate a much better response, if you only use powerful profit generating direct response marketing, instead of sending outrageously expensive unsolicited snail mail, to blanket all over a given area code of complete strangers!

Without going any further! There are tons more extremely valid reasons “why” you definitely want to avoid this outrageously expensive every door direct mail marketing tactic! But hopefully, the aforementioned three. Are reason enough. Don’t you agree?
