Ever Notice How Some Extremely Savvy Entrepreneurs Are Really Close Yet Still Off By A Mile?

So do you have any friends that are certified serial entrepreneurs? 

You know the type, they can literally within basically a weekend, or so it seems, (and who really actually knows?), for sure.

But they’ll quickly come up with another monster idea, and or concept for a brand new business, (and or) complimentary service of some kind!

And of course, they are absolutely relentless in their pursuit of success!

And before you and I can say, you/we (need to think about it!) They on the other hand, have already purchased, (and registered) another domain name, and paid a local expert to build, and launch (either), their state of the art, mobile responsive WordPress website and or blog etc.

And they are literally off to the races again,right?  😀 Or, if they’ve recently opened some type of (really cool) offline business, (and or) service, they dive in with full gusto!

However, (in the case of) their offline business or service,upon closer examination.

You’ll often find a rather interesting pattern, with regards to “how” they consistently go about generating and maintaining long term cash flow and profitability.

So How Come So Many Extremely Gifted And Dedicated Entrepreneurs Unwittingly Get In Their Own Way?

Let me give a concrete example of what I mean, (that will hopefully) demonstrate “how” some of these extremely gifted, and hard working, as they get, serial entrepreneurs, (in spite of) all they seemingly do right, they still miss the real profit boat, by an extremely large margin.

So they’ve found this (offline) killer retail location, (and true to form), they somehow manage to negotiate a reduced rate on the monthly lease!

And the physical store itself, is beautifully stocked! (Honestly, would you really expect anything less!?)And their customers already (positively) love them, their staff and their business, (and or) service etc!

Successful Entrepreneurs Are Definitely Not Afraid Of Hard Work!

And they get more than their fair share of positive tweets and positive comments on their Facebook Fanpage etc.Honestly, with a start like this, “what” could possibly go wrong, or where or “why” aren’t their gross profits through the roof?

Believe it or not, it’s actually a combination of several, (rather) seemingly little things, that ultimately always seem to add up.

How And Why Some Entrepreneurs Literally Develop A Profit Blocking Blind Spot!

So after you (or they) take a really closer look at their actual profit margins, (especially) when you do it, on an item by item, and or product by product bases.

Slowly (the less than ) rather obvious, starts to readily surface, and become more and more glaringly obvious, as to “why”, even though they’ve got the daily foot traffic, and the gross sales to match, their overall gross profit margins aren’t quite keeping pace.

(At least not on the initial front end of their sales funnel.)

And as a direct result, the business or service they so enthusiastically started, is sort of trudging along, instead of really generating the type of gross profit margins, all their sales activities indicates it should.

Successful Entrepreneurs Don’t Just See the Nuts And Bolts Of Being In Business!

Here’s an all too typical example, of the kinds of minor gross profit generating patterns, they get into, (and reluctantly) wanna get out of!They sell this one item, that only has a 14% gross profit margin. Which, in and of itself, isn’t too  bad.Right?

Until you discover they have another item, which has a far more impressive 33% gross profit margin (GPM.)

But here’s the kicker, (so please) pay real close attention here, because this particular insight is very telling!

When pressed, as to “why” a product/item that only has a gross profit margin of 14%, takes up a staggering 40% of the available floor space, when there’s an item located, (basically) in an obscure corner, (that has) a far more impressive 33% gross profit margin, only gets allocated 15% of the available floor space?What’s up with that?

They’re basically stepping over the dollars, (at practically every turn) to get to the nickels and dimes!Now watch “how” this exact same scenario, (far too often) plays out online as well.

Some Extremely Dedicated Entrepreneurs Constantly Struggle To Get Out Of Their Own Way!

Recently, while reading blogging expert Sue Anne Dunlevie’s excellent blog, Sue shared this amazing, (and almost) totally unbelievable story about one of her newest clients, and this (not all) unique situation, they were currently going through, which ultimately led them to finally seek out Sue’s much sought after blogging and Internet marketing expertise!

It seems Sue’s client, was an incredibly popular fashion blogger. And (get this), she was  currently generating a staggering 80,000 plus visitors to her blog per month!

(And I’m not totally sure if all or just part of that gross figure was actual unique monthly visitors.)

But here’s the kicker. With all that incredible traffic, she was -currently- only generating, a measly $200 dollars in gross monthly ad revenue! And virtually no affiliate sales whatsoever!Can you freaking believe it!

Your Small Business And Or Service Will Remain Small Until You Learn How To Properly Grow It!

But here’s the point,with that kind of outrageous monthly traffic, (for the life of me), “why” hasn’t she even tested offering to teach other struggling fashion bloggers, (who clearly) have absolutely no clue “how to” consistently generate all of that organic (free) traffic to their blog?

Seems to me, if she (first) offered some type of free lead generating special report on her site, to attract other fashion based bloggers, to join her list, in order to discover her proven traffic generating methods, she’d probably be well on her way to building a pretty substantial opt in email list, don’t you agree?

And on the back end of their free report, they could (either) offer some paid beginning, intermediate and or advanced , (one on one) traffic generation consulting/coaching.

Smart Entrepreneurs Constantly Assess And Adjust Accordingly! (While The Others Don’t!)

Or she could inexpensively “test” offering their recurring traffic, something like, a “free” lead generating special report and or cheat sheet, (entitled) “Seven little known ways to have the wardrobe of yours dreams!(Even if you really can’y afford it!)” 

And they offer the affiliate links of the  various retailers and and or popular clothing retailers etc.

The point is, rather than continuously try and sell low gross profit producing retail ad space on their blog, for virtually nickels and dimes!Why not instead, become a registered affiliate for some of the top retail accessory providers and or clothing retailers etc.

Successful Entrepreneurs Constantly For Some Proven ways To Create Multiple Streams Of Income!

And of course, continue to market her “battlefield proven” (organic) free traffic generating strategies, to other aspiring fashion bloggers!

Hopefully you can readily see, and totally appreciate the similarities between this struggling fashion blogger, (who’s) clearly putting far too much emphasis, on marketing promoting a much lower grossing product!

When they could be consistently generating some much higher gross profit margins, by placing their energies and focus elsewhere!Don’t you agree?

  1. I know a couple of people who are always working on a new project and I admire them for their drive but they never seem to finish what they started in the first place. I think that’s another problem for a lot of new entrepreneurs, they try to start too much too soon and always try to start a new company without getting the first one up and running! I don’t really consider myself an entrepreneur but I do read a lot of books about the topic and try to keep up-to-date with all the latest news. Anyways, thanks for the wonderful article!
