(You Might Wanna Take Into Account The Following Three Potentially Harmful Considerations!)
So you’re really pumped about “finally”being able to call your own shots, right? Well, before you hand in your two weeks notice and head off into the entrepreneurial sunset! To live and work happily ever after! My friend, you may wanna (at least) partially take into account the following three major potential obstacles!
(Because you may just find that working at home possibilities may not be all it’s cracked up to be!)
In fact, why not grab one of your favorite beverages, find your quiet spot (by yourself and or your spouse or significant other) and really take the following (rarely) thought about (or rigorously discussed) three possible scenarios, into serious consideration, before you actually make your final decision!
Three Things You Might Want To Seriously Consider About Working At Home!
(Before You Hand In Your Two Weeks Notice!)
First of all, let’s be completely honest here! Who can resist, if nothing else, the allure of (or totally delusional) fantasy of “finally” being in the financial position of successfully “working from home!”
Because on the surface, it sounds oh so good! (If not great!) Does it not?Sure! But like most things in life entrepreneur, the “devil is in the details!” as they often say! Case in point: “who” isn’t up for no more commuting back and forth to work?”
Or “who” can complain about not having to adhere to anymore formal dress codes!
(Everyday can be a potential “dress down” day if you want!)Or “how’ about not having to answer to your immediate supervisor(s) and or corporate nitwits any longer! Hey, it’s all good for sure!
But now, ‘how” about a down and dirty reality check! And lets dig a little deeper and see if some all important light can be shed on this (panacea) working from home fantasy!
1.) All important consideration #one: Entrepreneur, ‘while” you may be glad that you no longer have to share your break in the break room with the office “gossip!” By the same token, you may just find the complete solitude of working at home (virtually alone), a burden too much to bare!Say what?
Initially anyway! Especially if you’re more of the “social butterfly” type.(Because there’s no one to take your periodic breaks with and share thoughts, frustrations or ideas and aspirations with!) Hm…..
2.) All important consideration # two: Here’s the other thing! If you’ve got little ones, especially under the age of ten, you’re insane if you think you actually leave them alone in the next room periodically unattended, while you “focus” on certain must do tasks!
Like write a blog post or shoot a video or record a pod cast etc. (Ain’t gonna happen!) Because your little ones will need constant supervision! translated, your undivided attention!
Not to mention your other occasional distractions, such as “the unwanted door to door sales rep.” Or the ton of unexpected phone calls from friends and family, now that you’ve decided you’re going to work from home!
3.) All important consideration # three: But by far….here’ the biggest potential obstacle you’ll face. If you’re not really organized or the self starter type! Entrepreneur, no one’s gonna be there to remind you about that looming deadline.
And if you decide to sleep late or put off creating that all important fresh content until later. Guess what? You’re own your own. There is no one else to prioritize your day! It’s all on you. So before you decide to part ways with your paycheck secure 9-5, be sure that the working at home possibilities really fits and suits your personality needs!
Otherwise, you just might find yourself in a bit of a pickle. Don’t you agree?
