You Can Actually Call It The Domino Effect And Then Some!
Unfortunately there’s a whole lot more going on beneath the surface. When these private equity funds purchase ,then basically gut these once prosperous companies.
And only referring to it as the negative domino effect doesn’t even really begin to tell the entire story. Because countless lives on a local level are literally turned upside down.
And sadly some never fully recover emotionally or financially. This is a short glimpse into some of them.
It really isn’t obvious “how” deep and how severer some of the financial or emotional wounds go. Let’s have a closer look. Then you decide, fair enough?
Maybe If It Was Only The Domino Affect! (At Some Point Things Might Get Semi Back On Track!)
As you recall from this sort of ongoing series. A previously prosperous plant with roughly 5,300 total full and part time workers.
Located within a community of just over 43,000. Once their plant got bankrupted by a private equity fund. Lots of previous activities which previously helped stimulate the local economy quickly came to a grinding halt.
No more private piano lessons for the kids. No more ballet. No more private school. No more eating out nearly as often. No more setting aside money each month for the kids college education.
No nursing or dental school. In fact whatever funds had been accumulated to that point. The money was now needed for basic necessities.
Think about the women who just discovered they were expecting or had just given birth not even six months ago. Now they’ve just received their final layoff notice.
Or the couples who recently separated or were recently divorced after X amount of years together. And now the ex spouse suddenly can’t afford their court order child support payments.
There’s More Than Enough Temporary Or Permanent Inconvenience To Go Around!
Or what about the couple who were both formerly employed full time at the plant. And within 60 days of each other.
Now their both permanently laid off. And they’re literally forced to move in, with their kids or in-laws or other relatives. And some of the adults simply don’t like each other. And their teenage kids are literally forced to share a room with much younger kids.
When just six weeks ago they had their own room and privacy. (And let’s not forget this one.) An older more financially stable in-law loans them some money.
And now it’s been six months since the ex- plant worker has been officially laid off. (And the new job prospects don’t look to good.)
That Temporary Loss Of Income Can Be Far Reaching For Sure!
And their repayments stopped four or X number of months ago. And now the ex pleasant worker refused to go the in-laws house for the traditional holiday celebrations. For fear of being confronted publicly about their non payments.
Or they recently moved into an empty rental until owned by the older in-law. And now they haven’t been able to pay the full agreed upon rent in months.
Because they recently got laid off from the plant. And the in-law had been using the rent to help supplement their retirement income.
So they’re literally forced to ask them to move. And one of the spouses is furious. Especially since the general consensus is.
This particular in-law is definitely doing okay. So they threaten not to bring the kids by any more or far less frequently.
Again ladies & gentlemen. This is jump a small sample of the so called negative domino affect at play. Any questions?
