Why Some Of The Very Best Lead Magnets Come From Previously Dead Assets!

So do you know any one that’s ever attempted to self publish, their very own hard cover book?

Any idea “how” many books, in practically any given category, gets rejected every year, by the major publishers?

And by many of the much smaller independent, (less well known) publishers as well.

Rest assured, the numbers are freaking mind boggling.

And you wanna take a wild guess, just “how” many wannabe best selling authors, after consistently receiving more than their fair share of rejection notices, still whined up attempting to self publish their ill conceived masterpieces.

Only to end up shredding a ton of them!

Simply because, they can’t even figure out a creative way to give their books away!

Nod your head cadets, because this sad plight, happens far more than you may currently realize.

And unlike last years  version on this exact same (basic) premise, (this particular) man or woman, assures us, their method is definitely the one, that when effectively implemented,will finally lead us to promise land of,constant positive cash flow!(Does that ongoing theme not sound all too familiar?)  😀

They also promise to reveal “the secrets” to some long term appreciation, maximum tax benefits, low ongoing maintenance cost and, very few problem tenants!Sound familiar?

Savvy Entrepreneurs Learn How To Spot And Leverage Untapped Marketing Opportunities!

Now then, here’s their all too common, sobering reality!Their physical book, rarely if ever, sells enough copies, to warrant a second printing!Let alone a third printing etc!Unpersuaded by this, (all too real) sobering reality!

Far too many of these best selling author wannabees, whined up footing the entire bill, to print another 50,000 to 100, 000 (or X number of ) physical copies!  😀

Totally convinced, at some point, their target market, will ultimately come to their collective senses, and begin purchasing their books in massive quantities!  😀

Which of course, rarely if ever happens!And this explains the annual shredding, and or physical dumping, of hundreds of thousands, of self published books!And it also explains, “how” some of the ultimate insiders, routinely cash in big time!

Simply by strategically converting, some of these previously dead assets, into some of the very best lead magnets!

It’s Really Too Bad That More Self Published Authors Don’t Have Better Small Business Marketing Skills!

So have you ever done a Google search and skipped all the way to the 9th or ten page, just to “see” what those sources were? Neither have 99.9% of the other searchers!  😀

And by the very same token, there are some extremely savvy marketers, (aka) “The Ultimate Insiders”, that routinely outsource (overseas) companies, and in some rare cases, pay individuals overseas, to constantly pour over past issues of popular income producing, based magazines, like “Income Opportunity & Entrepreneur Magazine Inc,”, just to name a few of their major sources.

And these outsource rs are looking for past ads, where some wannabee entrepreneurial, self published author, was advertising/promoting their “how to” make money, in real estate (or whatever subject you can possibly think of )book/guide.

Savvy Entrepreneurs Can Make Good Money On The Front Or Back End Of Their Sales Funnels! (Can You?)

And they advertised a few times, and clearly didn’t gross enough profit on the front end, to even cover the cost of the advertisements/promotions!

And their dream of successful self publishing, pretty much ended right then and there!

That is, until they were initially contacted by the ultimate insiders, and or one of their representative/associates!

    What an absolutely fantastic post you have here.

    You are absolutely correct when you mentioned that many self published authors sadly lack the marketing skills to capitalize on their creations.

    But you have raised a great idea for me re the potentail of creating superb lead magnets from these what you referred to as “dead assets”

    Mark you may not have realized it but you have just opened a pandora’s box my friend so thank you very much for this heads up.

    It may not even be only lead magnets but what about ebooks, podcast material, blog posts and even some video training content.

    I’ve researched Creative commons material before but have lacked the clarity of purpose that your blog has given me.

  2. Okay, you’re in my backyard now Mark. 🙂 Seriously, you are spot on with your observations as usual. Believe it or not, there are still plenty of writers out there who consider themselves purists and thumb their noses at the very idea of such things as marketing or (gasp!) building an author platform. But the majority are prepared to do whatever it takes to get their book(s) into the hands of readers, especially if they wrote it to help establish credibility and promote a business or service, and I’m assuming that’s the category most of your readers fall into. Selling inventory to someone else is certainly a smart strategy, and probably the quickest way to recoup some of their investment. At the same time, I’d encourage anyone who does that to be cautious about who they sell their book to and invest the time to come to an agreement about how their book will be marketed and sold. This is a branding issue and if someone writes a book to build credibility it’s something they need to take seriously, even if they are freaking out about all those unsold books sitting in their garage.

    And for those who actually harbor a desire to make a go of being a published author, I recommend either retaining the rights to their material or publishing their next book in eBook format because it has become standard practice among experienced authors to have a book that is free that they use as a lead magnet to build their author platform. Most continue to rely on Amazon because of the huge numbers and potential exposure, but writers are getting smarter about including links to join email lists and offering value added bonuses to encourage readers to buy their books and join their “community” of followers. In fact, even fiction writers these days have taken to calling themselves “authorpreneurs” to combine their art with the dynamics of being an entrepreneur.
