Fear of public speaking

Why Fear Of Public Speaking May Your Initial Gateway To Long Term Success!

So here’s a loaded question for you. When’s the last time you actually spoke in front of a live audience of any size? And were or are you comfortable with doing so? Because believe it or not. In America alone it’s sort of an accepted fact.

The vast majority of regular people. Including aspiring entrepreneurs of all kinds (currently rate!) the all to real fear of public speaking. Above fear of dying. Say what? Nod your head cadets because it’s true.

So you may be wondering out loud ‘what” if anything this unconfirmed fact possibly has to do with your future chances of long term success, correct? Simply this.

Just like there’s currently a huge void of lack of qualified techies to fill hundreds of thousands of on and offline jobs in the various tech industries.

There podcasters. Especially newbie podcasters disparately trying to find qualified expert guests to be on their shows. But because so many aspiring entrepreneurs are reluctant to either be videoed or recorded.

A gazillion of these potentially door opening opportunities go unfilled week after week. Month after month and year after year.

Who Really Knows What Causes Fear Of Public Speaking?

But one things definitely for sure. The fear of public speaking may actually turn out to be the back door gateway to some long term profit generating opportunities for a select percentage of you.

Here’s why. Even though each year. But especially since the pandemic landed on the scene. The steady increase in brand new podcasts has simply skyrocketed.

But just like the overall trend with the gazillion brag new blogs started each year. New podcast hosts just like brand new bloggers.

After about 10 -12 new blog posts. Or 10-12 published podcast episodes. Their initial enthusiasm quickly seems to fade. And the vast majority of them never seem to be able to get their fresh, “how to” problem solving content creation mojo back. So before they realize it.

It’s been  anywhere from 90- 150 days. (Translated anywhere from 3-5 months since they last posted to their blog or published any new episodes to their once promising podcast.

And by then whatever, (if any!) audience they had. Or was on the verge of having has definitely since moved on. Sadly this is the all too common pattern which repeat itself over and over again.

Entrepreneur Would You Be Able To Seize The Moment And Speak To Just North Of 200,000 Listeners? (Or More!)

For those of you located in the US. And are familiar with Division One College Football Stadiums. You recognize “NeyLand Stadium,” correct? It’s located in Knoxville, Tennessee.

And it’s the University of Tennessee’s home stadium. And when it’s filled to capacity. Which 99% of the time during a home game during Division College Football season. It currently holds an impressive 102,455 radical and and extremely loyal fans.

Now imagine for just a second. The University Of Tennessee is playing in the National Title game at home. And now there’s an estimated 200,000 fanatical screaming fans in attendance. (For a moment forget the additional millions who are watching the game on TV all over the country.)

And you’re asked to speak to a crowd that extremely large crowd as part of the halftime show. Honestly, could or would you do it? Or would your nerves ultimately get the best of you?

It’s totally understandable if you decided at the last minute not to go through with it.

So What If Anything Does Potentially Speaking In Front Of The University Of Tennessee’s College Football Fans Have To Do With Your Chances Of Long Term Success?

On the initial surface not much. But beyond the surface. Potentially  whole lot. You see, I recently appeared on the dynamic Marc Lee’s Online Dinner Party podcast.

And currently Marc’s podcast typically has just north of 100,000 downloads (subscribers) per episode. And to he a guest on his incredibly popular podcast. I didn’t have to jump on a plane and fly across country. Rent a hotel room nor rent a car for a few days or a week etc.

Instead the modern technology allows us and millions of others all over the world to do the same on any given day.

In fact, the day I appeared as a guest on Marc’s podcast. I had already appeared on Josh Patrick’s awesome “Cracking The Cash Flow Code” podcast just two days prior.

Again absolutely no worries about travel jet lag. Or plane delays or potentially having to pay more for a hotel room because of some major event taking place during my visit.

  1. Public speaking is the scariest thing to do for introverts or shy people. An unconfident person will always avoid public speaking and lose opportunities to show their hidden talents, skills, or anything to the world. No one feels confident at first public speaking, you need to practice as well as try to get away from this fear because you lost so many opportunities with the fear of speaking.
