First of all, let’s not forget or neglect the fact that there are at least nine major (or at least) semi major promotional tie in’s for your business, product or service (on or offline) to tie into, throughout the year.
Here they are in particular order. 1.) New Years. 2.) Christmas. 3.) Mother’s Day. 4.) Father’s Day. 5.) Valentines Day. 6.) Easter 7.) Small business week (or weekend.) 8.) Halloween. 9.) Spring break. 10.) And let’s not forget National secretaries day!
With that said, let’s take three specific promotional strategies, that could be used by at least three separate type of businesses.
1.) Promotional strategy # one:With this first promotional strategy, let’s suppose you own a very popular local bar & grill. You could pull out “old faithful!” What else? A seven foot “teddy bear!’ And as all the ladies enter the bar, have your door person hand them a card they fill out that simply asks for their first & last name.
And make them aware that at closing time, one name will be pulled and as long as their still present, they’ll not only win “teddy!” but a dozen roses will be delivered to either their home, place of business or their job! Courtesy of your local florist joint venture partner!
2.) Promotional strategy # two: Your next proven promotional strategy could be used by a local bar & grill that caters primarily to college students. Get yourself a giant roulette wheel and fill it with coupons and specials from all types of other local non competing small business owners and or service providers! For ex: you could have a really big sign that says order anything on the menu that’s outlined in (green, red, blue etc) and you automatically get one spin of the wheel!
And the roulette wheel will have some really cool prizes like your three cups of large coffee for just $.49 cents coupon and or card!
Win a 25% off your next purchase at a popular tech place! They’ll love that! Or X% off the purchase of their books at a popular book store frequented by the students! Or stuff like win a free CD from some popular local band etc!
Get creative! It will definitely be worth it!
3.) Promotional strategy # three: This last promotional strategy is going to target the big boys & girls! In other words, the major retailers like “Best Buy” or “Costco’s” etc. Anytime they do a grand opening of a new location.
Instead of just passing out those “one time only” 10-25% off discount coupons. Which is great! The other thing they’ll do is create their “First one thousand shoppers club!’
The first 1,000 through the door get incredible perks like; special VIP text message alerts, that one of them will win a $1,000 dollar flat screen TV, provided they spend at least X amount of dollars!
They also automatically receive an additional 10% off any advertised sales price, but they get 25% off their total bill, every time they bring someone over 18 with them to the store!
They always get special notice, ahead of the general public, whenever any product is being discounted! Or put on a special clearance price! And on & on! These three simple promotional strategies, will help any savvy small business owner make more money! Don’t you agree?
