Remember the words to that classic song, “Don’t worry! Be happy!” My friend, you really need to take a vacation from all the constant stress in you life. Of course (it’s understood) that you want to. But the more you stress, the more the self doubt gremlins will begin making plans to sign a long term lease! And at your expense no less!
Let you in on a little secret: you know that friend, business colleague and or relative or spouse that has such an extremely high IQ? Or that relative with that encyclopedic type of memory and vocabulary?
Guess what? Believe it or not, from time to time, they get a visit from the self doubt gremlins as well! Hey, they wrote that best seller or they once held their own for 30 minutes, going one on one with that recent graduate from Yale University of all places!
Alas, alone with just their quiet thoughts and when they occasionally look in the mirror, (guess what?) they hear the exact same negative voices too!
Only, you’re silly enough to believe that just because you haven’t (yet) you fill in the blanks! You’re the only one that occasionally hears the voices! Wrong!
Okay, so you (and I) can’t add national best selling author to our list of major accomplishments just yet! So what!
Entrepreneur, you need to know and understand that even though your cousin (you know the one I’m referring to), even they finished second in their class at Harvard or just because they can speak four languages fluently, including mandarin!
Or just because they’ve practically won every service award their company and or industry has ever offered! They’d be the first to admit, that on occasion, (not too often mind you!) they too have been known to get a visit from the self doubt gremlins.
But here’s the thing, once you stop this incredibly self destructive behavior and just be still and really take an objective look around! You’ll find you’re simply being way too hard and critical of yourself!
Three Incredibly Inspirational Reasons Why You Definitely Shouldn’t Be Filled With So Much Self Doubt!
You know, sometimes others really can and do have a far more objective view of your/our pluses and minuses! And they can be far more objective in helping you/us see things more clearly! You’re constantly being way too hard on yourself!
Sure, we all constantly need some work on personal self improvement. As well as someone that cares enough to help us get back on track!
But you shouldn’t constantly keep mentally and emotionally beating yourself up! Especially when the real truth is, by comparison, you’re more times than not! Simply selling yourself way too short! Case in point; take a look at the following three reasons why you definitely shouldn’t be filled with so much destructive self doubt!
1.) Reason # one: Hey, the mere fact that you saw this headline (and thank goodness!) decided to click through and read this post! Congratulations!
That positive gesture alone proves, that you’re more than willing to try and pro-actively address your own overblown personal issues!
Bravo! Give yourself a round of applause! See, you’re not as self centered and non worthy as you think!
2.) Reason # two: Entrepreneur, have you really looked around! I’ve got a little challenge and assignment for you! Find out where the next local toast masters meeting is at in your particular area. And go! I’ guarantee you, if they’ve got a few featured speakers there that night.
At least one of them of will cause you to realize and appreciate, that you’re not as bad off as you seem to think!
Can’t make it out of the house, Google a few of the American Idol tryouts (that didn’t go on to fame and fortune!) and watch a few of them!
Then you tell me if you really should be that hard on yourself! I’m dead serious about that assignment! (Wink, wink!)
3.) Reason # three: And finally, the fact that no matter what happens, the good, the bad or the ugly! You and I, dust ourselves off and keep on keeping on!
That can most definitely serve as an inspiration to others! So who the hell are you to sit and constantly let the self imposed, (totally unwelcome) self doubt gremlins sap any or all of your creative problem solving energy and focus! Send um packing already! And get back to work!
Because you (and I) have got some extremely lofty goals to meet! Do we not? Any questions?

I definitely appreciate it!
Toastmasters… there isn’t one within an hour of me! But you’re spot on with your message.
“Don’t worry – be happy!” always brings a smile to my face and warmth to my heart, as I remember our little girl, two years old, twirling around the living room singing it. Thank you for the memory! 🙂

Yea, let’s channel some of that excess negativity into some proactive action steps!
And after we’ve turned over every conceivable rock and looked under every hood!
Then if you wanna revert back to being a “pessimistic Jack or Jane”, by all means go ahead!
For the rest of us, there is simply too much positive to do first! Don’t you agree?LOL!
As always, thanks for stopping by an sharing your positive insights! And thanks for your continuous support!
Hey Mark,
Self doubt is like a self fulfilling prophecy. If you think you can’t do something, you won’t. Our minds are a lot more powerful that way than you think. So it’s always wise to think you CAN. Remember the little engine that could 🙂 LOL!
It’s like what’s mentioned in the video. Stop analyzing and over analyzing or finding reasons NOT to do something and just do it.
Good post Mark,
Blessings,
Liz

And when you really stop and add up all the energy we too often
put into convincing ourselves of what we can’t or shouldn’t do!
Is it any wonder why we struggle so mightily, with accomplishing so many things and goals?
The Nike slogan says “Just do it!” I agree, let’s get out of our own way already!
Thanks so much as always, for taking the time to share your real world results insights and
for your continuous support! Both are greatly appreciated!
Well said Mark and I am so glad to see you recommend Toastmasters – I’m a huge fan! The first time I spoke in front of a group it wasn’t intentional – meaning I got roped into it at a conference. I did fine but because I hated the shaky feelings associated with having to stand at that podium I decided to do something about it and that was to join a local Toastmasters group. That was a life altering experience so I take every opportunity to recommend the organization to other. Thanks for the tips and inspiration!
I agree with you about the positive impact of your local Toast Masters group!
I’ve attended several local Toast Masters events over the years.
And for the most part the speakers tend to be pretty good. But once in a while
you’d see the occasional one that would convince you that there’s plenty of room
in that industry!LOL!
So yes, without a doubt, I’m a big fa of theirs too! Plus, as you mentioned, it’s a tremendous local resource, on
several levels!
Thanks as always for your continued support and for your extremely valuable input!
