How A Struggling But Savvy Local Band Turns Cheap Concerts Tickets Into Really Big Profits!

How A Struggling But Savvy Local Band Turns Cheap Concerts Tickets Into Really Big Profits!

You do realize that most local bands are pretty much going to watch their dreams of stardom and massive record sales live and die right where they started out, correct?

Because for any number of reasons, the vast majority of them simply don’t have what it takes to make it to the ultimate level.

And as long as they go into the entire thing understanding what the odds are.

Then they can look forward to having lots of fun and creating some great (local) memories.

With that said. How then does a (for the most part) struggling local band strategically turn cheap concert tickets into long term profits? Say what?

I’m sure there’s lot of creative marketing techniques and strategies they can use.

So this particular hypothetical marketing example is strictly for illustration purposes only. Okay?

But what it’s really designed to do is, to get you to see (from a creative marketing standpoint,) how an entrepreneur can take something seemingly small and strategically leverage it into something really big! As you’shall soon see!….

So How Does A Struggling But Savvy Local Band Turn Really Cheap Concert Tickets Into Some Really Big Profits?

First off, this particular type of (proven) marketing strategy, would probably more than likely be utilized by a more sophisticated local concert promoter.

Because let’s face it, the vast majority of aspiring local bands that are constantly struggling just to get decent local paying concert dates. Aren’t exactly the entrepreneurial type! Are they?

However, it’s always possible that someone in the band can (and does) think outside the box. And that’s the catalyst for this particular example.

So let’s say a local concert promoter wants to sponsor, (or better yet!) is approached about financing a local battle of the bands five concert event!

Start Looking Around And You’re Bound To Discover Some Previously Untapped Marketing Opportunities!

Here’s basically the way it might work. The promoter finds a local venue, like maybe a rather large parking lot of a now bankrupt and or abandoned strip mall

That way they’re probably only on the hook for some type of permission license fees and rather inexpensive insurance coverage of some kind etc.

Say they approach maybe three to five (fairly popular) local bands, about participating in the five performance concert event.

And ask them to participate in the promotion by, utilizing both their twitter and Facebook fan pages, and or other social media marketing tools and or resources they have direct access to etc.

And they have all the bands to drive all the highly targeted traffic to the promotional companies special WordPress blog’s market tested lead capture page.

And when the visitors get there, they will be offered a chance to enter a free drawing for $2,000 dollars in cash and a $2,000 dollar in gas card coupons.Cool, right?

You Definitely Can And Should Use Non Traditional Assets And Or resources Of Non Directly Competing Vendors To Leverage Your Long Term Results!

In other words, the promoter wants to really make sure they offer enough incentive to build a rather substantial subscribers list fairly quickly.

And to be sure they accomplish that goal, they also create a competition among the band members that are participating in the event.

Each band will be given a special code, (an affiliate code number) in essence. And the traffic they drive to the blog is directed to enter the bands specific affiliate code number at the site.

So the visitors can also get a chance to win a free copy of their favorite local bands latest CD and two free T-shirts to boot.

Whenever And As Often As Possible Use Some Type Of Ethical Bribery!

And whichever band produces the most signups, they automatically get an extra $1,000, (or X amount of) dollars in cash!

Ticket prices to the live event will be fairly low, that way the crowds are more likely to show up. (And just in case it’s crossed your mind, that if the concerts take place in, (either) a large local park and or abandoned retail strip mall.

How the heck can they prevent or prove who’s actually paid to attend the event?)

Proactively Use Incentives To Produce The Result You Want!

Great question. And the honest answer is they probably can’t?Huh? But here’s the kicker! At the end of each concert event.

The promoter(s) will hold a free cash drawing for $2,000 (or X amount of) dollars! Huh?

And the only way you can participate in it is if you have a valid ticket! And (you guessed it!)

Each ticket will have a unique ticket ID number printed on it, somewhere near the bottom! And the holder of the ticket, gets the cash! Bingo!

And they will be made aware of this from the email/mobile marketing alert message sent.

You Gotta Systematically And Strategically Promote Your Extremely Valuable Products And Services!

The extremely marketing savvy promoters will be announcing future locations of the “battle of the bands events!” Of course they’ll sell light alcoholic beverages, T-shirts and some great tasting food at these events, to help offset any upfront cost!

And each event will have a first and second prize grand prize winner! First prize gets $3,000 dollars in cash and second prize gets $1,500 in cash!

And the ultimate first place grand prize winner (to be decided by electronic votes caste on the promoters blog!)

But here’s the real kicker! The promoter(s) and or the savvy/entrepreneurial band members, can and should approach some local vendor(s.)

(Like may be) a popular local appliance dealer. And make an arrangement to pass out first time new customer only time sensitive VIP discount coupons to the live crowds.Bingo!

Don’t Or Stop Neglecting The Untapped Back End Income Generating Potential Of Your Business And Or Service!

And basically be paid an affiliate commission of 25 – 40% (or whatever) they can successfully negotiate.

And every month the appliance dealer simply credits the band and or promoter with whatever percentage that they agreed upon, from the gross sales generated from the time sensitive discount coupons. Are you starting to appreciate, how some pretty basic marketing strategies and tactics, can and will make a ton of difference!

In part two, we’re going to delve even deeper into this simple marketing concept. For non, hopefully you now appreciate how an extremely savvy local struggling band, and or concert promoter can turn some really cheap concert tickets into some really big money!

  1. It was interesting to learn about how to proactively use incentives to produce the result you want. I can imagine that promoting a concert could be really helpful. It could be really helpful to get a professional to help get a bigger audience.

    • Absolutely Jenna!

In fact, sadly, far too many, aspiring, (albeit) semi cash strapped or resource challenged,
on or offline entrepreneurs, constantly waste a ton of money and their extremely limited resources,
trying to advertise, market or promote their extremely valuable products or services.

In some of the most ineffective ways.Which explains why, they’re not only, constant;y
struggling financially, but not coming any where near close, to maximizing their true marketing potential.

Thanks so much, for taking the time to stop by and share your thoughts.Greatly appreciated.

  2. Hi Mark,
as I was reading this I thought of a friend who last year made a CD and wondered how she could use these great ideas here in New Zealand.

I can see how this model would work really great in the States and I like all the extra suggestions like the appliance store option.

Thank you for sharing this, I will pass it on.
    Cheers,
    Yorinda

    • Awesome Yorinda!

Thanks so much! Your friend really has cleared the main hurdle!

They finished their CD!Now it’s just a matter of some workable promotional ideas!

One thing you definitely need to suggest for them to do asap, is to
develop some type of viable back end income generating product or service!

Because as soon as they do, then they can do some really creative marketing, like add some type of inserts inside
their CD’s and if the back end product or service is profitable enough, they can literally let some other
marketer sell their CD’s just over cost, and let the vendor net that difference while your friend banks 50-100%
off the back product or service!

Boy the possibilities are potentially huge!

Please tell them to free to email me at my blog if they need any starter test ideas!

Thanks for stopping by and take care!

  3. Your ideas are always so creative Mark! I can see many ways this would work on the mainland and I’m sure there are more than enough hungry bands to jump on the opportunity.

I think there would certainly be people here ready to give it a try as well but our challenge is land. Oh we have plenty on the Island but it’s either private, ranch land, state owned (Haleakala National Park) or agriculture. But now I could see a savvy entrepreneur like you talking HC&S into “borrowing” some of their open space. 🙂

    • Thanks for the vote of confidence M!

This particular reply is more like an email, in the since that I just had to get
ready to participate in this mini launch and I was so caught up in the last minute
tedious preparation that I didn’t actually get a chance to stop by
      and study your latest post!

Then I had to get some much needed last minute coaching on how to effectively
      put all the pieces together!

And luckily my coach/mentor took the time, the day after “Thanksgiving”
( no less!) to help me out, if you can believe that one!LOL!

Anyway, this special “fire sale” promotion took place on Friday (Black Friday)
and ended on Monday (Cyber Monday.)

I said all that to say, I really meant to get over to your site sooner, but between life, the holidays
and frantically scrambling to get the promotion prep done, I couldn’t manage the time to get your blog,
so I could get my much need Marquita Herald fix!LOl!

Then I log in and here’s a really cool and flattering comment from you!

Thanks so much (as always M!) for being supportive and for your extremely kind words
      of encouragement!

      They mean an awful lot!
