So entrepreneur, when you hear the term “pioneer”, what (or who) readily comes to mind? For instance; when you hear the name Fe Del Mundo. Does that ring a bell? No? Well, there’s really no particular reason that it should.
Unless of course, you were somehow related to her and or you were doing a research paper (of some kind) on the very first woman that was ever admitted to the prestigious Harvard Medical School! “How’s” that for being a trailblazing pioneer?
Yes, this trailblazer of Filipino descent, was a Pediatrician wonder woman. Or ‘what about this name, see “if” it rings any bells, in terms of being a trailblazer.
Does the name Sandra Day O’connor ring a bell? Well, all she accomplished was, in 1981 she became the very first woman ever nominated to serve on the US Supreme Court! Not too shabby, right?
And of course, for us guys, leave it to me to throw in something as trivial as a late great sports icon!
But let us not forget that in 1947, (the late great) Jackie Roosevelt Robinson, made his major league baseball debut with the (then) Brooklyn Dodgers at historic Ebbets Field, in Brooklyn New York!
(Yea, that was before they packed up and headed to the beaches of sunny California!)
And of course, closer to home, and a far more significant accomplishment, in 2008 Barrack H. Obama, became the first person of African American descent, ever to be elected President of the most powerful country in the world!
All of these news worthy and culture shaping pioneers have made and left their historic footprints in the pages of history! No doubt about it! However, (entrepreneur) do you also happen to recognize the name “Harriet Thompson?” (Hint: She’s the lady featured in the video!)
It turns out, she’s quite the trailblazing pioneer as well!
So “What” The Heck Does A World Record Setting Marathon Runner Have To Do with Your chances For Long Term Online Success?
First of all, (let me) attempt to explain something, so you understand the real point of this particular post!Fair enough? You see that picture in the top left hand corner? That’s a picture of my Coach and Mentor (extraordinaire!) the one and only Adrienne Smith (aka) “The Engagement Superstar!”
And just for the record, no she did not give herself that title! It was given to her by another very successful online marketer! So she definitely earned it because of the way she has continuously presented herself online! So don’t hate, simply because my Coach and Mentor totally rocks and yours doesn’t! (Not like mine does anyway! 😎 )
Hey, it’s my blog, so it’s my opinion(s) that take center stage! 😎 Anyway, Adrienne recently wrote this fabulous blog post, (with a rather proactive headline, about? Why you’re never too old to blog!)
And in it she basically chronicles her very own personal initial online struggles, and her entrepreneurial journey and eventual evolution and transition into a successful full time blogger/Coach And Mentor!
You Don’t Have To Be A Trail Blazer In Order To Start Blazing A Trail!
And it’s really a great read (so needles to say) I highly recommend you check it out asap!Anyway, back to who is “Harriet Thompson?” And “why” does any serious aspiring online marketer really need to know?
You see Harriett Thompson is also a trailblazing pioneer, because at 92 years of age, she recently (officially) became the oldest living US female citizen to ever (and perhaps in the entire world too!), to complete a marathon! Say what? That’s correct!
So entrepreneur I gotta ask you!In the face of that undeniable (historic fact!) Are you still with a straight face gonna try and sell the (I’m too old and or too young) to do this or that defense, as your rational and excuse for doing virtually nothing!
Hope not!Because if a trail blazing 92 years young, self professed pianist can find the physical and emotional strength to start and finish a 26.2 mile run!Even though she’s twice survived bouts with Cancer! What pray tell is your totally lame excuse, for not at least starting to attempt something worthwhile!
Like consistently sharing your totally awesome and unique blog content with your specific target group and the rest of the world! So that’s “what” a world record marathon setting runner, whose all of 92 years young, has to do with your chances for long term online success! Any questions?

Hey Mark,
Well what a surprise to see my picture here and that you shared my recent post. Thank you for that and I thought it was an important message to share. Especially since I started later in life and I know I’m not the only one.
I know that the fear of the unknown or getting way outside our comfort zones is not always pleasant but if you want to continue to grow and evolve then I believe it’s necessary. Just as you mentioned my coveted title of Engagement Superstar that I acquired, I had people nominating me for contests that I knew nothing about. It just goes to show the type of impact you can make just by doing the work.
Anyone who is online building a business I believe needs to be blogging. There is a right way and a wrong way to go about this though. If they learn the right way then they are paving the way for success. If they waste their time focusing their efforts on the wrong way then they’ll keep spinning their wheels and get nowhere. I think it all depends on how bad you want this and that’s really at any age.
I say all the more power to all of those here for the right reasons and I just want to stand up and applaud them all.
Thank you again my friend for this post and here is to your success Mark.
~Adrienne
