Hi Mark,
What a fantastic post that is full of absolute truth my friend!!!
Where do I start? It seems that so many are hopeful of getting the attention to their blog and new prospects and sales that they ignore these realities.
I learned a long time ago to not rely on the search engines but instead build a rich community of influential bloggers who serve the same audience we do but in a different way.
In fact, by building a great community of influential bloggers around me I’ve been asked to contribute monthly to SEMrush (my first article was in January and the next one comes out next week) and several major business journals on the east coast.
Your point is spectacular, we don’t need gimmicks and tricks or a lot of pizzaz. What we need is spectacular content that makes a difference in peoples through solving a problem or just making their day better.
Don’t jack your site up, fill it up and confuse people… just learn the foundations of internet marketing and go from there.
Great post Mark!!!
~ Don Purdum
Excellent points Don!
And so very well articulated my friend! You’re just plain spot on!
Of course, your extremely helpful advice would have served me so much better in the
beginning of my blogging journey!LOL!
Hey, guess that’s why hindsight is always 20/20!LOl!
Thanks so much for sharing some extremely valuable insights and
for your continuous support!
Both are greatly appreciated!
Very informative post. When still a newbie you tend to listen to all these “great gurus” teaching you how to succeed online. Thanks for revealing these myths that have delayed many beginners progress including me.
I’ve been there and done that too Siphosith!
Yea, as totally inexperienced and totally gullible newbies,
we often are attracted to that allure of something potentially
profitable being easy!
Get over it already! It takes as we both well know, a ton of elbow grease
and perseverance!
Thanks for your continuous support and for sharing your extremely valuable thoughts!
Both are greatly appreciated!
Mark,
You are so right. Thank you for sharing your insights about what we are being told and what the real truth is.
Having created several web site, some myself and some implemented by a tech person, I know that being #1 on Google, or at least on the first page for my keywords, is helpful – but does not translate into instant money. Having those intrusive ads on my sites was also not helpful and not even income producing.
What I do like, and had more in the past, is a text ad for which I receive a monthly payment – as long as the ad is for something aligned with my work and my message.
I agree that complicated sites confuse me and I usually just go away. One of my mentors told me he doesn’t even have a web site anymore, just his sales page which he sends people to when he is delivering a live webinar. And that’s when the people purchase his products – not when they are just sitting on his web page.
We certainly learn the ropes as we continue to put ourselves out there in this virtual world. It can be both fun and exhilarating as well as completely frustrating and income depleting when not done correctly.
Warmly,
Dr. Erica
So true, so true!
And yes the learning curve is quite steep, but oh so worth it!
It just takes either a lot of costly trial and error or you
can you can invest in some qualified coaching/mentoring and avoid
a university of hard knocks education!LOL!
Thanks so much for your continued support
and for adding to the conversation Dr. Erica!
I always look forward to your extremely valuable input!
Hi Mark,
Talk about Myths!! I guess, we were all a victim of some of them.
Like for example, and this is related to myth #1 in your list, just having a blog will make your life easy and your business will explode as you will have free traffic. And when you create the blog you discover how much work you need to do to get in front of those people. That’s just one example but there is lots of other pits that we fell in when newbies and boy did we learn our lesson??
Thanks Mark for sharing these myths and I am sure it will help the newbies who will read it to avoid them.
Enjoy the rest of your week.
Be Blessed,
Neamat
You too Neamat!LOl!
Hey, sadly, I bought that one hook, line ans sinker as well!
in fact, part of the reason it has taken me some long to respond to your
excellent comment, my PC got infected with some sort of really funky
virus and the geeks that cleaned it up, recommended I not log into my
site until they cleared it up, for fear the virus might spread to my site!
So you’re so right, those myths about the Internet lifestyle being a breeze!
Get over it!LOl! And you’re right, the real ongoing work starts as soon as you get a functional blog
up and going!
Thanks as always for sharing your extremely valuable thoughts and for your continuous support! Both are greatly appreciated!
