Online marketing: Why Extremely Savvy Email Marketers Shouldn't Be Too Judge-Mental!

Online marketing: Why Extremely Savvy Email Marketers Shouldn’t Be Too Judge-Mental!

You’ve heard the old saying, “never judge a book by it’s cover”, right? And by the  same token, never judge the potential effectiveness of your opt in email list,(and or  offline database for that matter), simply by it’s current size!

Meaning, just because  you don’t currently have a gazillion or more opt in  subscribers, that doesn’t mean  you can’t have an extremely valuable on or offline  database! As you will soon see!

And when it comes to strategic online marketing, especially as it relates to  email marketing, don’t be too judge mental! Case in point; (entrepreneur) do  you know the name Jeff Walker?

Yea, you know, the guy that practically single handily invented the phrase and completely revolutionized the “Product Launch” industry!

Yea “Mr Product  Launch” himself, that Jeff Walker! (Hint: He’s the guy featured in the video.)

Anyway, Jeff recently shared on one of his latest videos, “how” one of his extremely valuable VIP email subscribers, arranged for him to hangout (backstage) on a recent leg on the “Rolling Stones” tour in the US!

Pretty cool, right? And he got to meet some of the bands family and road crew members etc! And he even got a chance to take a picture with one of the guitars the “Mickster” himself, the one and only (Mick Jagger) would use later on that night during their live performance!

And all because one of Jeff’s VIP  subscribers, happen to have the right connections, to make it all happen! So “what’s” the extremely valuable lesson and what (if anything) does any of this have to do with successful online marketing in general?

And email marketing in particular? So glad you asked?

So “What”Extremely Valuable Lesson About Successful Online Marketing Can Be Learned From Hanging Out Backstage At A Rolling Stones Concert?

So in a nutshell, ladies & gentlemen, here’s the skinny! So please pay close attention. You see, Jeff “Mr.Product Launch” Walker, literally had no idea, that one of his VIP email subscribers, had the necessary connections, to literally get Jeff a backstage pass to a recent “Rolling Stones” concert!

Because as Jeff readily admits in the video, he is and has been a freaking huge “Rolling Stones” fan forever! So here’s “how” and “why’ this extremely powerful lesson also applies to you and I!

Entrepreneur, you literally have no idea, “who” your VIP subscribers know, or “who” they might be related to either biologically and or a result of in laws!

Successful Internet Marketing Is Not All About Millions Of Visitors To Your Website And Or Hundreds Of Thousands Of Opt In Email Subscribers!

Nor do you know where they currently work or who they used to work for, do you? Which also means you have no idea “who” they might potentially be socializing with, both now and or in the immediate future!

That being the case, don’t be so judge mental about the current size and or effectiveness of your on or offline database!

Because truth told, every body knows somebody that knows and or can put you and I in direct contact with whomever you want to meet! And you just never know where that specific contact will come from! Now do ya?

So that my friend, is the extremely critical lesson, anyone that’s serious about online marketing in general and strategic email marketing in particular, definitely needs to know!Don’t you agree?

  1. Hey Mark,

Boy do I agree with you about this one. I’ve always said it’s not the size of your list that matters but the connections you have with them. You never know who knows who in this world.

Dino Dogan told a similar story about a year ago. He met someone online and they became fast friends. Through one of their conversations a few years into their friendship he mentioned a particular company he would love to get in front of if he only knew someone who could get him in the door. Little did he know that the very friend he was speaking to knew the president of that very company and not only did she get him in the door but he got a speaking engagement from it. He had no idea she had that connection.

Lesson learned my friends, lesson learned.

It would still be cool to have backstage passes to the Rolling Stones though. How awesome would that be.

    • You so got that right Coach!LOL!

It’s like they say,we’re all just six degrees of separation, from meeting any and everybody
      we wanna know!

Because somebody knows and or are is related to or worked with or is the ex of whoever
      we’re trying to meet!LOL!

And without her A one connections, he might have literally spent years, trying to accomplish what her one or two,
texts and or phone calls or email messages did!LOL!

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your extremely valuable thoughts and insights Coach!

They are always welcome and so greatly appreciated!

  2. I love this message Mark! Something similar – on a much smaller scale – happened to on my last trip to Australia when I met with a client in person for the first time who – in terms of the annual revenue – was considered a “C” level client for my company but size or no, I’ve always tried to treat every client with the same level of service. Anyway, turns out that he is extremely well connected in the industry and he went out of his way to introduce me to several potential new clients. If that weren’t enough he surprised me with box seat tickets for a performance at the Sydney Opera! As I said, not quite on a par with the Stones, and truth be told at the time it wasn’t even about the opera tickets – it was validation that I was doing my job and that felt really good.

    • That is an awesome story M!

Thanks so much for sharing it! I truly appreciate it!

It’s the exact same concept, and that’s what I hope future visitors
      will see and appreciate!

And being above to travel to Sydney to meet a client sounds pretty awesome as well!

So did you happen to take any pictures while you were at the Opera?LOL!

That must have really made you feel ten feet tall to know how much your customers
      care!LOL!

Thanks for sharing M, you certainly have enough incredible stories to create an entire
“On The road With Marquita Herald” type of chronicled series!LOL!

You are just too awesome M!

  3. I know I need to dive deeper into my email list, but haven’t put much effort into it yet. Chery brings up a great point though … it’s not the number of people you have on your list … unless they are all opening up the email and giving you conversion rates!
