Hey Mark,
I can relate to some of these myth’s. First off I like to say that blogging is one of the best things you can do with your business. As a matter of fact, I found that bloggers are some of the most helpful people to aid in your progression.
When I first got into blogging about 5 years ago, I was pretty hesitant and because I felt small in the blogosphere, I didn’t know who would be interested in reading my blog, which relates somewhat to point #2. But I went ahead and took a dive, and ever since then I have been improving and experienced how beneficial blogging can be.
Also, we all heard that you have to blog everyday to be successful which goes with point #6 and that’s not necessarily true. If you do this, then that means you’ll have less time to promote. Especially if you’re working a full-time job and have a family. I find that just publishig a post once a week consistently works just as well as publishing one 5 times a week, if not better. I spend most of my time commenting on sites and sharing my posts which helps tremendously with traffic.
This was a great topic and I hope that your points will encourage those who are hesitant to take that first step towards blogging! Have a great week!
Thank you Sherman!
Well, I for one am glad you decided to pursue blogging,
because I’ve learned a ton reading your blog.
You really know how to break the technical side of the web into bit sized
understandable chunks.
And for sure those seven myths and tons of others are holding back a tidal wave
of extremely talented individuals from sharing their expertise with th world!
Thanks for stopping by and sharing your extremely valuable feedback!
And your continuous support is greatly appreciated!Let’s keep rocking it in
2015 and beyond!
Hi Mark,
Great post and you touched on a very important topic as so many people think that a blog is not necessary and they come up with all the myths and excuses to just let you stop what you are doing or for them not to start one and start branding and promoting themselves.
I was introduced to blogging by a friend and we actually started blogging together at the same time and she showed me blog commenting but after a while she is the same one who is talking me out of it saying it is useless and time consuming. She stopped and I continued. lol
Having relevant content to your blog mission is important even if someone else wrote about the same subject. Using your own voice is the difference and the brand.
Thanks Mark for a great share. Enjoy your Friday and the weekend ahead.
Be Blessed,
Neamat
That’s so true Neamat!
And you touched on a really important point: it doesn’t matter how many times
a particular subject has been already covered, as long as
we bring a fresh or slightly different perspective to it!
That’s such a great point that so often overlooked and or ignored!
Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing such an extremely valid point!
Let’s both keep it rocking in 2015 and beyond!
BTW, I’ve just love to have your take on my latest post!

Thanks!
Hi Mark,
Glad you brought up this topic. There are so many myths out there it is silly! People that have so much potential are deterred from starting a blog for these reasons.
The truth be known, You need a blog and you don’t have to be a professional writer. You need to write in your own voice…tell it like it is. And of course, share some valuable content.
Some new bloggers will ask “What should I write about” People have already wrote about that subject. He He He….I tell them, write about what you know and convey it in your own words.
Thanks for writing this, and I’ll spread the news around so hopefully folks will understand it’s not rocket science!
-Donna
Thanks Donna!
And it’s so true what you said. A subject may have already been shared
many times, but nobodies read it from your particular point of view yet!
And since nobody can substitute for you, only you can tell it in your own
unique voice!
So shout it out! Thanks so much for all of your continuous support
and guidance!
It is so greatly appreciated!
Hey Mark,
I thought #1 was the most interesting. A blog is a website just like any other website. The search engines don’t distinguish between static sites and blogs, they simply offer up the site that contains the best information. So the notion that people don’t read blogs is really incorrect.
Of course all of your blogging myths are true, some things help boost things along but none of them should be considered show stoppers.
As long as you offer up content your target audience wants to read, promote your content and connect with the right audience you’re likely to have a successful blog. But keep in mind that patience and persistence are a big plus as well 🙂
Blessings,
Liz
Absolutely Liz!
So very well said! In the end, most people that are looking for any type of excuse,
in order to pretty much continue to do what they’ve been doing.
Unfortunately, they’ll find it!
So this short list of seven is just a tiny fraction of their excuse arsenal!
Thanks for sharing your extremely valuable thoughts and adding to the conversation!
It’s greatly appreciated!
Well said Mark, and I’ve heard every one of these at one time or another. My first experience working online (years ago!) was when I had to set up a website for a company I worked for. The company was the U.S. base for a multi-national organization so integrating it with the other sites meant having a professional involved. But ever the control freak I made it clear that I wanted it set up so I would be the one making basic changes such as changing or adding images and content.
My ad agency set up the site for us and of course they tried to talk me into having their IT guy manage it, but I am SO glad I stuck to my guns. I learned so much and that experience gave me the courage to dive into setting up my own site years later. You just never know where a decision will lead you huh? Thanks for the great read Mark!
That’s so fabulous M!
And you are so right! It really is a good thing you stuck to your guns
and that when you did look under the hood (inside) your dashboard, you knew
what you were doing!
I can still remember my very first WP webinar and they showed us inside
the dashboard!
That left side panel really freaked me out!LOl!
But with each exposure and explanations it got less complicated.
Wow M, you’re so incredibly well rounded! But being in some type of control is so vitally important!
Thanks for sharing such a cool story!
