While Your Major Competitors Are Coasting During The Holiday Season You Should Be Ramping Up! Part Three

Have you ever really stopped and considered just how potentially lucrative the holiday season can be, once you implement some really simple marketing strategies?

In part three, this segment is going to focus on at least three more currently untapped potential marketing strategies that could really put your ability to profit long term, on a whole new level.

For instance, up to this point as you are well aware, we’ve been concentrating heavily on the initial front end of this long term profit train, correct? And for the most part all we’ve done is leverage the shoppers as the step up to pay their raffle entry fee.

And as we mentioned in part two, those 1,000 entrants that spend a total of $500 dollars to be entered into the raffle an additional time. Each one of them will automatically be given an additional 20 laminated cards that entitle the card holders 20% off any  purchase from any current and or future store located in the mall, for the next year.

At which point, they can (either) renew the card each year thereafter for a small one time fee of jut $20 dollars (or X!) Or if they prefer, they can get a special VIP pass that allows them to present the pass and get their card renewed each year for free! Which option do you suspect a mere 99% of them that wish to renew will choose? Bingo!

Any idea ‘what” they need to  do, in order to get the cards renewed for free each year? Elementary Watson, elementary. (Those more mature eyeballs will recognize the reference!) All they need do is (either) join the savvy retailers mobile marketing list and or subscribe to their email list.

Now with that as our back drop going into part three. Let’s see how these savvy retailers are able to systematically leverage some serious profits from these battlefield tested strategies and tactics…..

Are You Starting To See And Appreciate How You Can Really Crank Up The Profits During Short Holiday Season?

Right off the bat, keep a couple of things in the forefront of your marketing thoughts. Initially only (20%) or 20,000 people (holiday shoppers) initially entered the raffle, even though it was estimated that at least 100,000 individuals (or more) would probably pass through the mall, during this seven week holiday rush period.

And those 20,000 individuals each paid $200 dollars for a chance to win a $50,000 dollar Cadillac Escalade! And that strategy initially raised  four million dollars! (20,000 raffle buyers x $200 a raffle ticket = $4,000,000 million dollars!)

Plus bare in mind, those 1,000 alpha shoppers, that will initially be given 20 of these special laminated cards to pass out to friends, family and or associates and or employees etc! Because they spent an additional $300 dollars, for a grand total of $500 dollars, in order to be entered into the raffle an additional time!

That’s an additional 20,000 cards, correct? So let’s say 80% or 16,000 potential shoppers join these savvy retailers opt in email list! (20,000 x .80% = 16,000.)

Now the flip side of that coin is, since this is the holiday season rush, right? And practically everybody swarming the mall has buying fever correct? Those savvy retailers should leverage this buying mood, don’t you agree?

Here’s how; they’ll let those other 19,000 raffle ticket buyers that initially spent $200 dollars to enter the raffle. They too can make these laminated VIP discount cards available to friends and family, business associates and or employees etc!

However, they only pay one dollar for each card, but they have to buy a minimum of twenty! So that means, they can (in essence) buy these as gift certificates and give them away to whoever they wish as (both) holiday and or birthday/anniversary gifts etc! Again, let’s say that 80% of the initial 19,000 raffle ticket buyers, take advantage of this upsell.

That means that 15,200 of them will be passing out 304,0000 annual renewable discount cards! Here’s the math: (19,000 x .80% = 15,200 ) (15,200 x 20 = 304,000 total laminated discount cards!)

Now Can You See How And Why No Serious Marketer Should Be Thinking About Slowing Down During Holiday Season?

However, unlike the the 1,000 alpha shoppers that spent $500 dollars to be entered into the raffle an additional time, these card holders only save 20% off any purchase from any current and or future store located inside the mall.

But they too can renew these cards every year, either by paying the nominal fee and or just by joining either their mobile or opt in email list.

But the real point is, entrepreneur are you starting to appreciate just “how” potentially lucrative the holiday season can be? Especially when you add just a little creative marketing juice to the mix? Any questions?

In part four, we’ll share a few more front end and one or two back end strategies, in order to place the proper bow on this series. Until then….

  1. There are so many different ways to ramp up business during the holiday season in addition to afterwards. You continue to supply amazing information and insights for everyone whether they are a business owner or not. 🙂

    • You definitely got my vote for congress Kyle! Thanks!LOL!

  3. Hi Mark,

You’re always giving us the edge of marketing tactics, here.

Most people do lighten up their attack during the holiday season, so you’re absolutely on target here… attack in the middle of the night, while everybody’s fast asleep… LOL

Seriously, this is a great strategy for bypassing your major competitors, who are taking time off and slowing down their operations.

    Thanks for another cool post!

    -Donna

    • You so got that right Coach!

Or as the wise and successful marketer said, when the mediocre or unsuccessful marketer zigs you be sure and zag!LOL!

As you pointed out, it’s just like clock work, certain marketers see certain points on the calendar and or
certain time of year as their cue to slow things down a bit and coast for just a second or two!

But the savvy marketer/entrepreneur gets excited about the opportunity to widen their gap!

And possibly overtake certain competitors in their market place! As always thanks so much for adding that much needed value to the conversation!

And for your continuous support! Both are so greatly appreciated!

  4. Very clever strategy (I’m still trying to understand all the implications), I’m looking forward to the next episode. Thanks!

    • So glad you’ve enjoyed it to this point Llyane!

Even though the main method to the overall marketing madness not all be crystal clear just yet!

And in that case, the two remaining installments should really help
tie the overall pro-active marketing concept together which is that basically, during the typical
holiday season rush while a ton of otherwise extremely savvy marketers are
      going into coast mode!

Astute marketers (such as you and I) can leverage the overly aggressive mindset of the holiday shoppers and
potentially gain huge market share over these competitors that think it’s time to take
a quick break and coast a little!
