While Your Major Competitors Are Coasting During The Holiday Season You Should Be Ramping Up! Part Four

As you’ve hopefully discovered through the first three installments of this ongoing series about strategically leveraging the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.

There is an awful lot of potentially lucrative untapped profit centers, revolving around the raffle marketing concept. Would you not agree?

But in part four let’s micro focus in on the major (or) alpha participants of the raffle and not the actual raffle process itself. Meaning, the original 20,000 participants, that purchased a raffle ticket for $200 dollars and the 1,000 of them (the alpha buyers) that invested an additional $300 dollars each, so that they could be entered a second time!

First of all, would you not agree that 20,000 shoppers out of an anticipated 100,000 total shoppers for an entire six and a half week period, is a pretty conservative figure.

That’s only two out of every ten shoppers in the mall are actually participating in the raffle. Or to say it another way, that’s only a twenty percent (20%) raffle participation rate.

So these (hypothetical) figures are far from pie in the sky, outrageously optimistic projections, don’t you agree? And remember the numbers are merely for illustration purposes only.

Because who knows, maybe your area might experience 250,000 individual shoppers over that same six and a half week period. Or then again, maybe you live in a less populated rural area, in which case, your particular mall may only experience 63,000 total unique shoppers invading one of the more popular malls in your particular area.

In any event, let’s take a much closer look at “how” these 20,000 individual raffle ticket buyers, may just hold the key to some truly explosive long term profits!

How The Ultimate Insiders Really Take Full Advantage Of The Holiday Season!

(And How You Can And Should Too!)

Here’s the first thing. Remember these four extremely savvy retailers, they wan’t to create some positive (and potentially) profitable long term word of mouth buzz, both on and offline correct? Absolutely!

But that’s probably not going to happen if they take the traditional advertising/marketing approach, right? So here’s how they go about strategically leveraging their 20,000 raffle buyers clout and major influence.

They will basically utilize three market tested approaches for creating a tsunami of positive goodwill (future bank account filling) positive word of mouth buzz, both on and offline.

(Note: Since this is good old fashion power marketing 101 and we’re not psychics! These strategies have to be (initially) inexpensively tested, tracked and tweaked, in order to ultimately reach maximum long term profitability.) So that means, what you’re reading here is merely the starting point!

These strategies may have to, (and more than likely) will be modified in order to fit the specific buying habits of your actual target audience.

1.) Positive word of mouth buzz creation strategy # one: Remember those 1,000 alpha raffle ticket buyers, that spent the additional $300 each, in order to be entered into the raffle an additional time!

The fact they’re willing to be proactive and take matters into their owns hands, means they’re showing(crucially important) signs they potentially have what it takes to, (or quickly) be converted into super affiliates/super advocates for your business, product and or services! Huh?

Here’s how; for the sake of argument (and purely) for illustration purposes only. Let’s say of the one thousand alpha buyers, 500 of them are women. So right after they spent that additional $300 dollars, (or X),they will be given a very special time sensitive VIP discount coupon from the local jeweler.

And it informs them to come to one of the jewelers stores before the handwritten expiration date on the coupon. And if they do, they automatically get a $100 dollar charm bracelet of their choice! Obviously while supplies last!

And keep in mine, this conversation starting charm bracelet normally retails for $250 dollars, or more! (Not bad, right?)

But with the very special coupon, they only pay 10%, or it’s theirs for just $25 dollars! And they have the option of giving away five time sensitive gift certificates to whomever they want, with the exact same offer!

Or, if they prefer, they have the option of bringing any brand new first time customer to the store with them (that’s 18 and over) and they automatically get two women’s classic diamond studded earrings, that normally retail for $400 dollars a pair! But they only pay 15% of the normal retail price for them, which means they only pay $60 dollars! Their choice! ($400 x .15% = $60.)

Bring a friend 18 and over, that’s a first time visitor, and pay just $60 dollars for an asset that normally retails for $400 dollars!

And be all the talk at the next several social events! Or come alone and pay $25 dollars for a really nice charm bracelet, that normally retails for at least $100 dollars!

Plus, don’t forget, all of these ladies, no matter which particular option they choose, they will still be offered some proven market tested upsell offers at the point of their transactions! That said:

(What do you suspect at least some of those alpha female shoppers will elect to do!) You got that right!)

A Little Marketing Creativity Can Go Quite A Ways In Creating A Long Term Buzz!

(Would You Not Agree?)

2.) Positive word of mouth buzz creation strategy # two: Now gentlemen, not to be out done. (Referring to) the other 500 alpha male shoppers that spent the additional $300 dollars to be entered into the raffle an additional time. Here’s what that appliance dealer offers you.

Bring the time sensitive VIP discount coupon to the appliance retailer by yourself, and you can grab a tablet with 32GB, that would normally retail for $349 dollars!

And you pay just ten percent or $34.90! (Plus any and all applicable taxes and fees of course!) Or if you prefer, you can bring a brand new potential first time customer  to the store with you, and as long as they’re at least 18 years old, you can grab that $900 dollar state of the art 60 inch flat screen TV and pay just ten percent or $90 dollars!

(Sunday NFL ticket anyone!)

Now what do you think will be the topic of conversation, every time guests are watching whatever on the 60 inch!

Of course both of these two groups will be offered the opportunity to pass out special business cards the holder gets laminated, and the cards have the alpha shoppers special ID/affiliate number on it.

And every time these people shop at the mall, they present this universal card, and the alpha shoppers accumulate points and they can redeem the points to purchase all sorts of really cool goodies! (Just like the old S& H green stamps, way ,way back in the day!)

3.) Positive word of mouth buzz creation strategy # three: And finally regarding the other 19,000 $200 dollar raffle ticket buyers. They get a chance to become compensated affiliates as well.

Here’s how; These  raffle buyers are given the opportunity to periodically send affiliate linked emails to whomever they want. And at the end of each month, the top three affiliates that generate the most sales revenue.

And the top affiliate for the month, gets 40% off any purchases they make for the next 30 days! And the second most productive affiliate gets 25% off any purchases for the next 30 days, and the third most productive affiliate gets 15% off their purchases for the next 30 days.

And they each get cash back rewards for finishing in the top three spots each month as well. Nothing super significant mind you, but enough to get them to actively compete against one another month to month.

But here’s the real point; most potential marketers would focus solely on the raffle concept itself. And rightfully so, because a raffle when executed correctly can be potentially incredibly lucrative.

But this particular (potentially) lucrative marketing strategy, focuses on the raffle participants, and leverages their enthusiasm to create some serious long term gross profits, during the robust holiday season.

And hopefully you can, (and  are starting to ) see just how potentially lucrative that it can be, can you not?

  1. Hi Mark,

I see you’ve worked really hard on this post. This is the first one I’ve seen out the four.

If all four are just as good… It will be like a miniature EBook!

    Super value! Well done

I can’t wait to read the rest 🙂
    Thanks Naomi

    • First of all thanks for that awesome compliment and great marketing suggestion!

Because I really love your suggestion of maybe creating a special holiday marketing ebook and maybe target
      small to medium sized retailers!

That is a smoking hot idea Naomi! And one had you not suggested it, probably never
would have even occurred to me! I hope you don’t mind, but I may even create a post about your
      tactic!
And of course I’ll be sure and give credit, where credit is do! I can just reference one of your
      recent excellent posts!

Because that would make a great free lead generator! You know each time I read one of your blog post,
its really obvious that you have a really sharp marketing mind!

And this idea you’ve suggested, simply reinforces that! Thanks a bunch for stopping by and
sharing your extremely valuable insights and for your continuous support!

      I truly appreciate both!

  2. The holiday season is so hard for me business-wise. I am really learning to change my marketing tactics during this time of the year in order to do better business. I will have to keep this post in mind!

    • Believe you me I get it Heather!

And your right, for the most part that’s the way a lot of small or solo-preneurs think as well!

That’s why it behooves us to ramp up as much as possible during that time period, because there
is some serious long term profit potential, just waiting to be strategically tapped into!

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts! I definitely appreciate it!

  3. I had to read the jingle twice, very clever – as is your marketing plan Mark. I have never seen anything like this done, and since most of the raffle tickets I’ve seen where I live are of DIY origin I think our local businesses could use you as a consultant! Seriously innovative and thought provoking, as always. Thanks Mark!

    • I am most definitely going to take that as a compliment M!

Because without a doubt you are no stranger to solid, proven and innovative marketing strategies and techniques!

      Irregardless of the industry!

And that is such an incredibly nice compliment, I’m not sure if my head will fit through
the door for a few hours!LOL!

Coming from you that really means a lot! Thanks so much as always for your extremely kind words
of encouragement and for you continuous support!

      Both are greatly appreciated!

  4. Your post reminds me of the lyrics to a Tom Lehrer song:

Christmas time is here, by golly,
    Disapproval would be folly,
Deck the halls with hunks of holly,
Fill the cup and don’t say “when.”
Kill the turkeys, ducks and chickens,
Mix the punch, drag out the dickens,
    Even though the prospect sickens,
    Brother, here we go again.

On christmas day you can’t get sore,
Your fellow man you must adore,
There’s time to rob him all the more
The other three hundred and sixty-four.

    Relations, sparing no expense’ll
    Send some useless old utensil,
Or a matching pen and pencil.
“just the thing I need! how nice!”
It doesn’t matter how sincere it
Is, nor how heartfelt the spirit,
    Sentiment will not endear it,
    What’s important is the price.

    Hark the herald tribune sings,
    Advertising wondrous things.
    God rest ye merry, merchants,
May you make the yuletide pay.
Angels we have heard on high
Tell us to go out and buy!

    • That’s too awesome Zach!

And even though I’ve never hard that particular Xmas song before,
      the overall message is priceless!LOL!

I love it! Especially the part about picking up the slack during the remaining
      364 days!

Too much! Thanks man and I hope your holiday season and beyond is one
      of your best ever!
