How to improve retail sales in your service business! part two

As you already discovered in a previous post about how to improve retail sales in your service business, it is vitally important that you be proactive.

And not try and re-invent the wheel. In this post you’re going to expand and further explore one of three main marketing strategies, that were explained in part one of this series.

So just to quickly recap. As you recall in part one, the three primary marketing strategies that were advocated are:

A.) During a nagging (and or) prolonged recession, this is the time you want to market heavily to your best existing customers and clients. Because it’s a statistical fact, that’s up to  500% cheaper to do so. Especially if your particular client base is more upscale!

And guess what? Those more affluent customers or clients, can recommend or refer other more affluent first time customers as well!

B.) You also want to create a fabulous incentive based referral program asap, that way you can adequately reward (bribe) your best customers and clients for positively spreading the word (on and offline), about your business, product or service.

It’s a whole lot cheaper than constantly paying retail, to generate that all important new first time customer.

C.) And finally you want to proactively create and market at least three forms of “how to” information (education based) marketing products, to take advantage of  your target markets insatiable appetite for solution driven info products.

1.) First you want to create 3-21 page free lead generating special reports (and or) ebooks that you can give away to your online visitors for joining your list.

2.) Secondly, you should start creating short 3-5 minute “how to” problem solving videos and upload them to your youtube channel asap. Just be sure that you always use an annotation of some kind near the top or bottom of your videos, directing the traffic back to one your best market tested lead capture pages.

3.) It’s this third powerful marketing strategy that the remainder of this post, will focus on. You also want to create some free “how to” solution audio products, to  distribute as well.

How To improve Retail Sales By Becoming More Charitable!

Powerful strategic alliances (aka)  joint venture partnerships, can be an incredibly profitable low  cost source of high profit margin business. Case in point: one of my main niches, has major promoters, and each year they host live three day events that show case at least 80 separate speakers, on practically every relevant subject that pertains to the main niche!

And one of the speakers took an article written (by yours truly) and included it as part of a live workshop he periodically conducts.

The net result is, whenever his attendees read my article, they contact me and a certain percentage of them purchase (both) my 160 page “how to” text” (plus some really nice  bonuses of course!)
And a certain percentage of them always want and need some personal customized one on one personal consulting, at a mere $250 dollars per hour. Thank you very much!

How To Improve Retail Sales By Strategically Sharing Your Expertise!

Here’s another benefit to being invited to speak at one the industries top annual conventions, that draws 1,500 attendess annually. Another major vendor offered by book as one the free “gifts” given away via a free daily drawing, they had for all those that attended their daily workshops.

They gave away my book and their names, mailing address (along with their phone numbers and permission to call them!) were forwarded to me.

And as you might have guessed, with just a few follow up calls, a certain percentage of them (bought) both the book and purchased at least an hour of follow up one on one power consulting, valued at just $250 dollars per hour.

Here’s the point, if you’re a service provider and or  a professional of some kind.If you’re a CPA that specializes in maximizing tax deductions for small to mid sized S corporations and LLC’s etc.

You could create a powerful free ‘how to” lead generating  introductory CD (valued at $27 dollars) entitled Five (or X) Number Of things Every LLC Should Know About Fighting IRS Tax Judgement s!

And let some of the top local charities give it away as free gift, to any donors that donate from the mid level and up. And let any other non competitive small business owners that you can think of (and you) can successfully negotiate with.

The Marketing Ball is Definitely In Your Court! (So try And Get out Of Your Own Way As Quickly As Possible!)

Allow them to do one of two things:

A.) First, let them sell your CD/DVD and keep 100% of the front end profits, as long as they personally introduce you to at least three other non competitive small business owners that you can offer the exact same arrangement to!

Because you’ll net 100% of all future back end profits and all the repeat sales, testimonials and referrals!

B.) Next, let them give it away to their best customers and clients, as free bonus, anytime they upsell to a more expensive product or service. And whenever they provide a bank account filling testimonial and or power referral!

And you’ll be front and center, whenever there ready to buy your product or service! that’s win/win. And that’s how to improve retail sales!

List at least two simple spin off concepts (in the comments section below) that you can apply to your business, product or service in the next 30 days or less!
