David and his various contemporaries. Was really in his hey day in the mid 80’s and early 90’s. Basically the pre Internet era. But even though he and his expert marketing team didn’t have access to the world wide web back then. (The way all of today’s creative financing, real estate investment gurus do now!
As a proactive marketing tool. Nor did he have a chance to leverage his own opt in email list. Which by today’s standards. Would have easily been in the millions! 
But one of the assets he and others in his era were able to successfully leverage and consistently monetize. Was their monthly newsletters.

First of all, every time Dave would run one of his outrageously popular 60 minute infomercials. Plus run a few half or full page ads in, one of the most highly circulated local papers. In each city he and his traveling crew were in.
While he Criss crossed America. Putting on his free 90 minute, introductory workshops. Offering his “Nothing Down” Creative Real Estate investing strategies.
Back then, the back end to his free introductory workshop. Was his popular home study “Cash Flow System” course. Which initially sold for $297 dollars.
And truth told his actual hard hard costs were probably somewhere in the neighborhood of $95 dollars. Typically anywhere between 400- 700 people would jam pack local hotels.
First to initially hear Dave. Then later. As Dave’s publishing company steadily grew. He like a ton of his contemporaries were able to hire sales reps.
Who put on the free workshops. And were paid hefty commissions on every one who purchase his course.
Almost like MLM/Network Marketing, right? Dave earned X% on every course sold. But Dave like a ton of his successful contemporaries.
Also profited from handsomely his monthly newsletter.
Let’s Talk About The Long Term Profit Generating Potential Of Piggyback Marketing!
Because Dave’s monthly newsletter was published twelve times per year. And it originally sold for $129 dollars per month. But you received one free bonus issue. (A 13th issue if you will.) Whenever you pre-paid for one whole year.

And Dave gladly pockets the remaining 20 or X% on the initial front end. But he pockets 100% of all the long term back end gross profits.
