Picking up where your story left off; you had just decided to attempt to use the incredibly wasteful (not to mention ) extremely expensive spray and pray, (highly un targeted) shot gun approach to using inexpensive direct mail.
And more than likely you experienced virtually zero results! Which means at least two things.

So the three main basic long term considerations for you to contrast regarding mass distribution marketing are.
1.) You can eliminate 98% of your overall traditional marketing costs, such as
printing and postage.
2.) You can still earn a gross profit even if a staggering 99% of your list
doesn’t respond to your offer(s)! Say what?
Remember To Constantly Be Developing The Back End Of Your Business Or Services Sales Funnel!
3.) You can inexpensively, consistently and strategically contact your subscribers/customers for peanuts, practically anytime you want!
All by utilizing every small business owners most under utilized, low cost secret weapon!
What is Your Small Businesses Secret Weapon?
Why it’s good ole, (low cost ) and mega proven email marketing, what else?
Contrast the (one click of a button) email marketing approach vs. the extremely expensive and non effective, spray and pray (a particular) zip code mass marketing direct mail approach.
Think about it for a moment; with a carefully constructed email(that in time you will learn to you create yourself.)
You could, (after some copy writing practice.) Simply push a button and instantly contact 1-10,000, (or more!) of your best subscribers and or customers/clients etc.
Certain Types Of Paid Automation Definitely Make Sense!
And even if you had a ten percent un-deliverable rate, ( which by the way) if you did then you had better be looking into getting a new, paid email service provider asap.
But the real point is this: even if you (consistently) only received a lousy return on your investment (ROI), of a measly one percent; you’ve still eliminated 98% of your traditional printing and postage costs!
Let’s (confirm) this by doing the math.
Would you rather; pay for postage and printing of 10,000 postcards or fliers, each time you wish to contact your customers. And get a dismal one percent response rate and in all likelihood lose money!
Or would you rather push a button or two. And contact the same 10,000, (or X number of) subscribers/customers, and get the same measly one percent response rate?
A Tiny One Percent Response Rate Online Can Still Equal An Overall Gross Profit…
Only this time the same one percent. (Or 100 people ) actually purchase something.
Like maybe your $27.00 dollar digital information product. Now you gross a respectable $2,700.00 dollars as a direct result!
(One hundred purchasers is one percent of 10,000 by the way.) (100 divided by 10,000 = .01 or one percent.)
And 100 people times your low front end $27.00 dollar info product, equals a gross profit of $2,700.00 dollars,(100 people x a $27.00 purchase=$2,700.00 big ones.)
Plus keep in mine; in the traditional offline mass marketing model, that same $2,700.00 gross front end profit, would probably not even, (or barely) cover your upfront printing and postage costs!
Are You Starting To Appreciate How And Why Implementing Certain Forms Of Internet Marketing Definitely Work To Your Advantage!
And because you’re savvy enough to market your products or services via the Internet, you just eliminated a whopping 98% of your traditional offline marketing costs!
Bonus: Plus, if your product or service is slightly more expensive; like say it retails for $47.00 dollars.
And you get the same one percent response or (100 people) now invest $47.00 dollars with you, you just grossed $4,700. dollars. And again you still eliminated at least 98% of your offline traditional marketing costs!
Hopefully The Major Disadvantage Of Mass Media Marketing Is Starting To Become Apparent? (Isn’t It?)
So in conclusion; with the combination of a higher response rate, and higher priced products and services.
Simply by using low cost, highly profitable, strategic email marketing instead of the extremely expensive and often very ineffective spray & pray mass mail marketing approach.
Your small cash starved struggling small business or service, can consistently out promote your big buck competitors!
(No matter what your particular specialty market is.)
