    Lead generation (Or Is It Just Me?)

By chance are you into any type of fishing at all? (No worries if you’re not.) Regardless of whether you are or aren’t. Have you also noticed just “how” much effective lead generation has in common with fishing? I’m serious.

Give me a moment and in the remainder of this post. I’ll try and make my case. Are you with me on this? Let’s consider what they have in common. Then you decide “if” the similarities are warranted or not. Fair enough?

You Might Wanna Give This Building Brand Visibility Thing An Even Closer Look!

Think about what the top people who fish tend to do over and over. First of all they research to “discover” the specific preferred bait, (aka) lead magnet the fish they’re going after prefers.

Then they systematically A/B split test the different types of lures to use. Which may or may not increase the likelihood the prey bites on the hook, right?

But strategic testing does help increase the odds. Provided they discover their targeted fish’s real preferences. And so it goes with truly effective lead generation strategies and tactics ladies & gentlemen.

The more you and I and or your competitors know about your ideal customers and prospects. The more effective you can  structure or position your promotions, advertising or marketing. Which means you don’t have to continuously spend a fortune, on outrageously expensive, hit & miss traditional advertising campaigns.

Good Ole Email Marketing To The Rescue!

Now in the case of some good ole fashion email marketing. Imagine a local, non franchised retail furniture store. (Or any extremely marketing savvy,) non franchised retailer. Who’s marketing savvy enough to be systematically building their own opt in email subscriber.

Simply by offering their daily walk in customers. The opportunity to enter their monthly or quarterly free drawing. For their chance to win Master Livingroom suite. Which typically retails for at least $8,500 or X amount of dollars.

Of course their (or your!) actual hard cost is usually half or slightly less, right? And let’s say after five or X number of years of steadily building their list. And even after 11 or X% of the list has unsubscribed.

But the really good news is. An impressive 78,737 or X number of subscribers are still receiving you or your major competitors emails.

And just like  the most successful people who fish. You can and definitely should strategically A/B split test various subject lines. Different P.S’s. And you can and definitely should segment your lists.

So your emails as targeted as possible. The more you do this. More than likely the more profitable your emails will be. Don’t you agree?
