As you just previously discovered in part one of this ongoing series about how to generate leads, if you’re going to use the copy writing approach, you’re definitely going to have to crack a book or two create a swipe file (or creative thought generating) file if you will.
And you’re definitely going to need to inexpensively test what you create and monitor the results. Understand that it’s definitely an ongoing process.
And you already know the basic proven elements, like a main (benefit orientated) power headline. And sub headlines etc. You also need to test your P.S. and add and test your all important (CTA’s) Call To Action etc.
But you already know that, right? So here’s the thing about learning how to generate leads by becoming a more accomplished copy writer. My friend, do not let anybody kid you, there is definitely a learning curve. You simply will not be be able to whip out an effective sales letter and or create effective copy of any kind, without lots and lots of practice.
However, you can learn how to generate leads effectively, and that actually convert. And literally do it starting from scratch, when you take a slightly different more marketing based approach. Case in point.
How To Generate Leads That Actually Convert In The Next 60 Days Or Less!
(Without Hiring The Fancy Copy Writers!)
Suppose you’re a local and extremely savvy jeweler (that has) really healthy gross profit margins. (Or any company that has healthy gross profit margins for that matter.)And you’re always on the lookout for the opportunity to (simultaneously) lower your upfront cost and maximize your long term profits, right?
Absolutely.
That’s why it only makes perfect marketing sense to reach out to one of the most popular and capable local family style bakeries in town. And maybe both you and the owner(s) are both active members in the local chamber of commerce.
That being the case, here’s what you propose to the baker and or bakers. You will sponsor (pay for) a free monthly drawing for (drum roll please), who else? Couples that have recently announced or plan to announce their engagement!
And the bakery is going to choose one (recently) engaged couple every month! And each month the grand prize winner will get a freaking huge customized cake! For their wedding, when the actual day comes! They’ll also get a special mention (with pictures of course) in one of the local, high profile wedding/photography based magazines!
The jeweler of course will be footing the entire bill! Because in reality, they are going to be generating semi qualified leads for anywhere from 25-50% off the traditional normal upfront cost.
Because not to be lost in the sauce here, is the fact that all those recently engaged or soon to be engaged potential first time customers, are definitely going to want more eye popping jewelry at some point, right! Yep! And it’s more for the long term back end sales, over time that the jeweler really has their eyes on! (In this particular marketing example.)
One Of The Proven Keys Of Effective Lead Generating Is To Strategically Stack The Marketing Deck In Your Favor!
Because if nothing else, they can (and probably should) sell each month’s grand prize winners, some really nice necklaces, diamond studded earrings or bracelets etc. For the jewelers actual cost!
Because these people are (at least) temporarily high profile! Are they not? They work, socialize and are related to other potential first time and hopefully repeat customers of the jeweler, right? Especially the ladies! And don’t forget, the jeweler has already run their preliminary lifetime vale of a customer numbers!
So they recognize that their ideal customer are basically worth $7,500-$17,000 dollars. Over a five to ten year period! So the cost to fund (sponsor) these monthly free drawings through the bakery and springing for the magazine ads for the couples etc.
Is a mere drop in the lead generating marketing expense bucket! (Relatively speaking of course.)
Plus, these free drawings, obviously attract new potential customers to the local bakery as well! Word starts to spread among local engaged couples. So the bakery is happy about that too.
Plus, this joint venture and or co- op type of marketing arrangement, definitely helps broaden both the bakery and the jewelers potential viral marketing activities, with other local businesses! Such as the local photographer and or local limousine service etc!
In any event, hopefully you can see and appreciate how to generate leads that actually convert, without having to become a master copy writer? Any questions?

Mark – Such a well written and creative article you have put together. I think lead generation is one thing that can truly set any company into a successful online venture. Sometimes it may seem that one way to generate leads has dried up but with what you have presented here, it is obvious that there are several ways where you can continue to generate leads through being creative and innovative.

Lead generation is the most important part of any business. Without new leads, business falls apart at the seams. Thank you so much for sharing with us ideas that can help us with organic lead generation so that we don’t have to go out and spend a lot of money on a copywriter.
Your tips are great! I think that this is my first time to your blog. I’ll definitely be returning!

Thank you for your extremely kind words and for stopping by and sharing your thoughts and extremely valuable insights!
I truly appreciate it!
Mark, I love how creative you are in showing all of us great ways to market our business and generate new leads. I like the idea of doing joint venture partnerships with other businesses so that both of you can cross promote and help each other to expand your customer base. Thanks for all of your insights and help!

Strategic cross promotions and on JV’s or whatever fancy terminology you and I choose to use to describe them. This is what it’s all about. You know the old saying, “you’re in business for yourself, but not by yourself.”
Case in point, look at what we all accomplish simply by strategically sharing each others content all across social media! And consistently commenting on each others content!
Are these not strategic cross promotions and JV’s!Of the absolute highest order I might add!LOL! When you and I (and others) leave extremely thoughtful
comments on each others blog post, we’re strategically leveraging brand new potential eyeballs, for literally pennies on the dollar!
And every day those comments (back links) remain active, that’s the potential for another potential, semi qualified prospect to
click our link and discover how our business, products or services, may be able to serve them!
That beats consistently spending money on outrageously expensive, non targeted advertisements to complete strangers! So on or offline Shelley!
It’s definitely to our collective benefit to consistently form high powered, low cost strategic alliances (JV’s!) with other non competitive
small business owners and or service providers!
Thanks so much for stopping by and for your continuous support and for your extremely kind words!
I truly appreciate it!
Hi Mark. You should be going door-to-business-door with these ideas. I’m not sure that many business owners think in terms of joint ventures, but you have some great ideas on how to become more joint venture oriented. Great post.
All the best,

Awesome Marquita!
Coming from a lady with so much immense talent, creativity and extreme clarity of inspirational and educational thought!
I simply have to take that as a compliment!LOL! If only the creative part were true! Oh the possibilities!LOl!
But I thank you for your extremely kind words and thoughts just the same!
But you are so right in your assessment. The key for us as savvy entrepreneurs is to always keep our options
of possibilities open!
Which means, you’ve got to be willing to discover new possibilities, at the risk of experiencing temporary setbacks! Therefore you’ve
got to constantly be willing to, test, test, test.
Thanks for your continuous support and extremely keen insights! I truly appreciate both!
Mark,
You are helping us to think outside the box, to think of ways that we can joint venture with others and provide mutual support. You are also showing us that it can be truly cost effective to do something “for free” if done in a strategically effective way that will lead to ready, willing and eager buyers in the future.
Thanks for all your enlightening insights. Marketing is not my strength and I can use all the advice and insights possible.
Warmly,
Dr. Erica

Dr.Erica you are simply way too kind with your extremely flattering words!
And far too modest about your obvious extremely polished and professional marketing skills and strategies!
I look at some of what you have on your blog’s home page in terms of some the
incredibly powerful social proof and it’s down right impressive!
Meaning, the fact that you list a few of the very impressive major network TV shows that you’ve appeared on and
been featured on! Awesome stuff!
Are you freaking kidding me!
That’s incredibly smart and extremely effective marketing! And if you don’t mind my saying so.
Another really cool potential way of separating your self from your major competitors, is to create a free special bonus report and
or DVD/how to video series.
Detailing “how” you were and are able to consistently land major TV interviewing exposure!
That would make a really cool free and or upsell bonus for your higher ticket offline events or as a separate workshop or tele seminar etc.
Just a thought!
The next time you’re hosting an offline retreat event, you might inexpensively test offering that product in some format
as specia free bonus gift valued at X, to the first or every one that orders and pre pays for the event by a certain date.
Just something for you to consider.
BTW, not only am I too a big fan of the “King Of Kaching” himself,
Mr. Tom Antion!
But I’m a student and customer of his as well! I purchased an excellent DVD series from him a few years back, and actually qualified for a free
bonus one on one 30 minute power consultation with him as well! That was so cool to get to pick his brain for a half hour!
As a direct result of purchasing one of his higher priced products!
So I truly beg to differ when you say (and mistakenly) mention that marketing is not one of your obvious many strengths! I beg to differ!LOL!
You do a fabulous job of not only marketing, but branding yourself as well!
In any event Dr.Erica! Thank you so much for your extremely kind words of encouragement and for continuous support! I truly appreciate both!
Mark, this was a very well written post, and an excellent recommendation for a better way to generate leads. Well done Mark. Do you help small businesses to generate leads? If not, I think you’d be a big asset if you do – creativity is important.

Hey mark,
It’s kind of great thing to know that people can generate their lead like this.:)
The example you have taken about a bakery shop is something which we can call remarkable. In my opinion if you provide great quality product with responsive support then no one can stop you to conquer the market.
A post worthy to read.:)
