Five Simple Things Every Newbie Marketer Definitely Needs To Know About Search Engine Optimization!

Otherwise There Is An Extremely Good Chance Your Totally Awesome Content Will Never Be Found By Any  Of The Major Search Engines!

Surely as you’re going about creating your totally awesome content, the  thought has (at least) briefly crossed your mind, about “why” all this so  called fuss about good old search engine optimization, right? Good.

Because entrepreneur (unfortunately), you consistently creating totally  smoking hot and highly relevant content for your specific target audience, is  only one major key spoke, in the overall wheel of successful online  marketing.

My friend, if your content  doesn’t get any love from the major search  engines which (of course), we’re speaking primarily of the “Mack Daddy”   of all the major search engines, which like it or not, right now is Google!

If Google doesn’t assist your content in ranking and gives it at least a semi  heads up, your content will not be as readily found as those pieces of content  that do get a thumbs up from the grand Poo ba! 😎

Wait a second! Before all you social media butterflies start bombarding me with your flame throwing emails and sarcastic, (semi X rated) comments about “how”  vitally important social media engagement of your content is! Yada, yada, ya!

I totally get that! But word to the wise, my overly ambitious newbie marketer!

You’d better get over any such delusions now! You don’t get to be the “Mack Daddy”, simply because you’ve got a catchy name! Anyway, with that said:

Let’s quickly take a look (from the thirty thousand foot overview perspective) if you will. And of course, should you and or any of your IMF  posse need further in depth analysis and or explanations!

Then by all means please (do refer) to the “Mack Daddy” for any further assistance needed! 😎

Please Don’t treat All Important On And Off Page Search Engine Optimization Like It’s A Weekend Hobby!

That said: let’s quickly take a look at the five bare bones minimum things, all aspiring newbie online marketers, definitely need to know about good old (SEOsearch engine optimization. And see “how” consistently applying these five proven concepts to your smoking hot content, will definitely help get you some much needed Google love.

Otherwise, you seriously run the risk of being (in an online since), that proverbial needle in a haystack!Translated; your extremely valuable content will be extremely hard  to be found!

Remember, you’ve got to invest  (both) the time and money learning, (not necessarily) mastering, but getting semi proficient at basic keyword research. Otherwise you can’t realistically expect to consistently rank organically (free) on Google or any of the other major search engines first or second page.

And if your content doesn’t consistently rank on Google’s first or second page organically, (free) then you better be getting a lot of social shares, via the various social media platforms, and or you’ll be consistently paying for your traffic, in one form or another!

(Note: And just for the record, we’re referring to your content being published to your very own self hosted (mobile responsive) WordPress blog.

Not one of the many extremely popular free blogging platforms like WordPress.com or blogger and or Livejournal.com etc)

1.) Key strategy # one: As often as you can, always be sure to try use the keyword and or keyword phrase that your trying to rank for, in the title of your blog post, video, podcast and or article etc. And in your website URL (web address), if at all possible.

2.)  Key strategy # two: Also, inside your blogs actual dashboard section, if there is a section in there referred to as your “meta tags” section. Be sure your include any and all keywords and or keyword phrases that you’re trying to rank for there.

This practice (while) definitely considered irrelevant  and old school in some circles of successful online marketing, doesn’t hurt nevertheless!(Also be sure you adequately fill in the “description” section inside your dashboard as well.So the search engine spiders (robots), that crawl your web pages, have some sort of idea “what” that particular form of content is about.)

3.)  Key strategy # three: Throughout your actual blog post and or article, be sure you occasionally italicize, bold and underline the keyword terms and or keyword phrases that you’re trying to rank for.

And a lot of the SEO gurus and guruettes (and keyword research specialists) all seem to agree, for whatever reasons, this fairly common practice still tends to help win you at least some favor with Google.

4.)  Key strategy # four: Be sure you always include (either) some sort of relevant picture and or image of some kind with each post. And inside your blogs dashboard, always be sure you fill out the “Alt text” section .

By doing so supposedly helps the visually impaired and the robot spiders that periodically crawl your site, know “what” the image is and or represents.

5.)  Key strategy # five: Be sure that at least one or two of your all important sub headlines uses the H1, H2 or H3 sub headline format, and they use the specific keyword and or keyword phrase you’re trying to rank for in them.

You’ll find your H1 and H2   main power headline and sub headline formats (etc;) available in the editor section inside your dashboard.

Look at the editor and (typically) right underneath the Bold & Italicize keys,  (usually located to the left) inside your dashboard, you’ll see the word “Paragraph” with a black down arrow just to the right of it. Click the arrow, and you should see in descending order, the H1, H2, and so on, sub heading keys.

Just highlight the sub headline for the appropriate format  you wish to use and format that text.

6.) Bonus: Key Strategy # six: And last but certainly not least! There is another rather important concept, often referred to as “key word density.”

Basically, “what” you wanna keep a close look out for here, is to not go overboard and over use your intended keyword(s) and keyword phrase(s) you’re trying to rank for.

This all too common “old school practice,” which is often referred to as “keyword stuffing”, is frowned on by all of the major search engines, but especially Google!

As a general rule, you’re usually pretty safe, if your overall “keyword density” stays below 3% of the total number of words in your content, no matter “what” particular form it may take!(And be sure and watch the instructional video!)

You follow this broad overview (on page) search engine optimization strategies entrepreneur, and you also consistently embrace all the other proven on page optimization strategies as well. And you are definitely well on your way to receiving some much needed Google love! Any questions?

  3. I like you overview Mark. Although you did mention mobile above, I would add making sure the website is mobile friendly, even if we do not yet receive lots of traffic from mobile. In April Google updated its algorithm to look at a site’s mobile performance. I know a handful of people who did notice a drop in their traffic and said that they updated their site to fix mobile and it back to what they expected.

    Enjoy the weekend!
