Five Simple Reasons Serious Entrepreneurs Shouldn't Be Afraid To Start Small!

Five Simple Reasons Serious Entrepreneurs Shouldn’t Be Afraid To Start Small!

Remember the last two or three projects that you actually completed? Yea, how cool was that? Were they like really (really) big projects, modest size or more the garden snake variety of projects?

My best guess is that most of the projects you complete are relatively small in stature, correct? Which is why it’s definitely a good thing for all serious entrepreneurs to really consider the five major benefits of moderation.

In other words, start small. Because believe it or not, both the success and failure is far easier to digest in  much smaller doses, than really huge chunks.

For ex; in the case of some really bad news. Is it easier to be told everything that’s going wrong all at once, or little by little? And likewise; suppose you’re successfully running a small Mom & Pop pizza shop.

And for the first time in 40 plus years the local division two college hockey team is headed to the NCAA national playoff! If they can somehow manage to win this last home game. And ton’s of the out of state rivals fans descend on your hometown town and head into (of all places) your local pizza shop.

A normal crowded Friday night might have 50 plus people in the shop at any one time . On this particular Friday night, you’re packed with the maximum legal capacity of 80 people!

Plus (incredibly) there’s an ever growing long line outside of (roughly) another 150 people or so waiting patiently to get in! Wouldn’t that particular scenario be far better if that crowd came in much smaller (more manageable) waves of 20-25  people at a time? Exactly.

Introducing  Five Extremely Powerful Reasons To Start Small!

1.) Reason to start small # one: Ever try to borrow money from (either) a friend and or your local banker? What’s your most educated guess? Do you think it might be easier to initially borrow a couple hundred dollars or $250,000 dollars?

Meaning; it’s best you probably start small. Initially, correct? Agreed.

2.) Reason to start small # two: Ever watch a 90 minute video? That takes a lot of focused concentration doesn’t it? Where as six separate 15 minute videos spread out over six days might actually go over a little easier, correct? No doubt.

3.) Reason to start small # three: If you were starting a business from scratch tomorrow, and this was literally your very first go round. And most of your well meaning friends and family members, where aware of the shocking statistic that reveals a staggering 88% of all small businesses fail inside of five years or less!

Do you think they would be easier to convince that you would gross $50,000 your first year or one million or more? Again, would you not agree, that it’s best to sell them on a much smaller, seemingly far more realistic initial goal of grossing $50,000 dollars in your very first year?

It’s Definitely Okay To Have Big Goals And Dreams! (Just Ground Them In What’s Initially More Likely To Happen!)

4.) Reason to start small # four: Ever notice as you’re driving on the highway, while observing an 18 wheeler at work? Which do you think is easier to navigate? Your vehicle and or that 18 wheeler? Agreed?

You’re definitely able to make the necessary adjustments so much faster, and with far less hassle, right? Meaning: initially it probably makes sense to get your feet wet first, in an initial small business and or service. Before you attempt to tackle running a place that now has over 700 employees. And constantly growing!

5.) Reason to start small # five: Ever try a commit to blogging 5-7 days per week? Quite challenging, wouldn’t yo agree? But what if (instead) you initially start with two to three brand new fresh blogs posts (insights) per week.

Once again, which of these two rather lofty goals do you feel (initially) is far more likely to be achieved? Agreed. So hopefully you can see and appreciate in these five totally separate examples, why it’s simply far easier to start small and aggressively scale up! As rapidly as you can! Don’t you agree?

Start Slow But Stay Consistent! (And You’ll Definitely Keep Moving Forward!)

  1. Hello Mark,

As usual, any time one visits your blog, one always leaves really fill with motivation.
I had this idea of starting something really big but had to suspend it because I needed some really huge cash.

But I took the boast step just last week and the result has just being tremendous without even a penny.
If I had started earlier before, I guess the results would have of course be tremendous but as the saying goes, better late than never.
