So have you ever had to snitch on either a relative, colleague and or a close friend or friends? Yea, it’s so not a good feeling.Right? But let me ask you something, if it actually came down to it, would you actually rat out some so called close friends, especially if they were purposely sabotaging your chances for long term success?
(Picture this:) It’s late one night and you’re at home (finally settled in for the evening), enjoying some scintillating conversation with your spouse and or significant other.
While some halfway interesting movie plays in the background. Sound familiar? Anyway, suddenly there’s a knock at the door. Turns out it’s two local detectives and they’ll like to ask you (of all people) about five of your so called best friends. Hmm…?
Because these turkeys are in big trouble!
Turns out these five habitual losers, that (if you’ll be extremely honest about it), your family, spouse, significant other and or trusted colleagues have been warning you about your association with them for years! Well guess what? They’ve finally gone too far!
And now they face (formally) being charged! Any there’s plenty of overwhelming evidence in order to convict them!
So here’s my question to you entrepreneur. And please, be as brutally honest as you can be here. Okay? Because your long term future success may actually depend on it! If it turns out, that your proper ID of them causes them to have to go away for an extremely long time, would you be bold and courageous enough to (finally) send them packing!
Hopefully once and for all!
So How Do These Five So Called Close Friends Of Yours Actually Hurt Your Chances For Long Term Success?
Yea, it does sound a little bit strange, doesn’t it? Because who really consciously hangs out with and or openly associates with some well known losers! Especially when their (much deserved) reputations precedes them.
So here’s the moment of truth. These two local detectives want to know if you’re finally willing to send these bums packing! And if you’re brutally honest with yourself and everybody else. You know these five jerks have never ever truly supported you and or your family in any meaningful way! Have they?
And that’s reason enough to disassociate with them! Wouldn’t you say? So the detectives lay the pictures of these five perpetual suspects on your table and asks whether or not you know them! It’s finally the moment of truth! What say you?
Entrepreneur, do you (or do you not!) have an ongoing friendship with these five totally suspect individuals?
1.) So called close friend # one: Doubt: Oh that bum!
2.) So called close friend # two: Uncertainty. Always hanging around whispering that crap in your ear and clouding your better judgement!
3.) So called close friend # three: If: Always second guessing you! Never ever supporting you! Ever!
4.) So called close friend # four: But: Always with the buts!! No matter what the circumstances.
Would Five Of Your So Called Closet Friends Really Go Out Of Their Way To Consistently Sabotage Your Chances For Long Term Success?
Remember the last time you were about to shoot that really cool (and extremely informative) on screen, “how to” video for your niche audience? Just before you actually hit the record button, remember how fear and doubt starting giving it to you non stop!
Asking you if you were sure about doing this? And questioning “why” anyone would listen to you because! These five perpetual trouble makers, do nothing but take! Right? So why not rid yourself of them already!
Or the last time you started writing that blog post, what did “doubt and uncertainty” do? That’s right, they started with their ‘that subjects already been beaten to death crap!”
Successful Entrepreneurs Look For More Reasons To Move Ahead! (Not Shy Away!)
And consequently you decided (at the last minute) not to publish it! And therefore, all the people you could have potentially helped, missed out! Again!
They’re “guilty” as charged! Don’t you agree? So do the right thing -this time- and rat them out and send these bums packing for good! And stop hurting your chances for long term success!
What say you?

Hi Mark,
Unfortunately, some people are married to, relate to and befriend some of those naysayers whose life never amounted to much and want to bring any entrepreneur spirit down with them.
I’ll tell those people, get away from those folks as soon as you can.
Now, I understand that it may not be easy, but think for a moment, what if they were the very stumbling blog between you and your success?
I truly believe that bad associations can bring someone down big time. so, at some point we have to choose between success or staying with the losers.
Great topic 🙂
I couldn’t agree more Sylviane!
And you said it so eloquently! And it’s so true,
sadly sometimes those closets to us are in fact one of the biggest
and constant impediments to our long term success!
Absolutely! Thanks so much for dropping by and sharing your extremely valuable input!
It’s greatly appreciated and it’s really great to see you again!
Let’s keep it rocking in 2015 and beyond!
Excellent PR Mark
I like your style of writing. I thought I was reading a Novel so I had to read to the end to find out what happened .
I was born and raised in Jamaica and I remember my parents warning my siblings and I to be careful of “so called friends”
As entrepreneurs we must get rid of the “so called friends” that are pulling us down.
Cheers
Vivette
Absolutely Vivette!
Your parents obviously were very wise and raised you extremely well!
And thank you so much for your extremely kind words of encouragement! That’s means a lot!
I just try and write and hopefully be somewhat entertaining as well as educational!
Thanks so much for stopping by and being a valued part of the conversation!
Your continued support and feedback are greatly appreciated!
Wow Mark this article really hit home. A few years ago i was in this sort of scenrios and literally had to let go of some “close friends” because they simply were either non-supportive, skeptical, jealous or didnt want to see me succeed if it met they were not going to gain in their own ways. I try to be the friend that is the opposite, lifint others up rather than lifting them down. Great post and video!
You and me both Kyle!
Thanks for your extremely kind words
of encouragement!
Yea, unfortunately we’ve both been there and done that!
Sometimes you just gotta trim the fat bud! And keep it moving!
Thanks for stopping by and sharing thoughts! And it’s really
good to see you back!
Mark,I was visualizing this situation and have been experience with a family member.
I believe in tough love methods. Those who choose to live that lifestyle. Must face the situations that will happen. They know it and feel great when they continue to get away with such activities.
My response is to be honest and share only what I know of them. Not if I feel they would be capable. I only speak as on if they where with me or not. Do I know of them.
We have to be ethical and honest. Our names are the only thing we have. So, people must be able to know you are a person who only will tell the truth no matter how much it will hurt.
Thank you Mark for giving us a chance to express ourselves on such a level. Great Article!
Thanks William!
I’m so glad you could appreciate the value in this particular
post!
We both know these five losers love to hang out and live
it up at our expense!
They have no intentions of ever supporting us!
Thanks so much your incredibly kind words of encouragement and
for your continuous support!
Both are greatly appreciated!
I was worried you were talking about 5 actual people there for a minute haha. Especially because right now I am on this “you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with” kick and am re-assessing who I am, what my relationships say about myself, and how I can surround myself with more like-minded people.
Well, Mark, you are absolutely right and I love how you have approached the subject. In the end, it all comes down to how you approach these “5 friends” and noticing when they come around so that you can make peace with them and then kick the to the curve.
Great article!
Thanks so much Victoria!
They always see to show up when you and I
ready to explore the unknown! Then they start with their junk!
I agree that to a degree we are a reflection of our closet friends
and or associates!
So glad you found value Victoria!
And thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your extremely
valuable thoughts!
I like your style of writing about these called best friends. As entrepreneurs it is high time to get rid of these so called friends , they pull you down all the time if you entertain them.I want success and I’m closing the door and windows when they come to play. Thanks for the share.
Isn’t that the truth Siphosith!
These five are the cause of so many missed opportunities!
They are hangers on and their friendship is simply way too
expensive!
They never support anyone and they prevent progress! So I’m glad you
agree they need to be kicked to the curb already!
Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your extremely valuable thoughts
and for your continued support!
Both are greatly appreciated
