Five Basic Email Marketing Terms All Newbie Marketers Need To Know!Part Two

Okay, as you previously learned in  part one, about how some extremely savvy, small business owners and or service providers, type of entrepreneurs, (of all) shapes and sizes BTW, are definitely (if not) consistently growing their businesses.

Then without a doubt, as a direct result of their strategic email marketing activities, they are at least, maintaining what they currently have worked so incredibly hard to build.

However, (sadly) the flip side of the coin is, there are (literally) a ton of highly skilled, and (I might add) incredibly talented men & women, that are attempting to make a serious go of Internet marketing.

And they (unfortunately) haven’t got (even) the slightest clue, of “how” effective email marketing, is suppose to work for them and their business and or service etc.

Primarily because, they haven’t yet completely comprehended the incredible unharnessed potential of, opt in email ,and or getting your prospects to join your mobile marketing list etc.

And because they  don’t, the longer it takes for them, (and hopefully) not you to get at least a partial understanding, of the basic fundamentals, the more (potential) long term profitability, then miss out on!

Two, not so good things keep happening!Neither of which, bode well for your bottom line long term!

So Why Should Every Aspiring Newbie Marketer Know And Understand These Critically Important Email Marketing Fundamentals?

Now just to quickly finalize that last train of thought: Any serious entrepreneurs, that haven’t yet (harnessed) and or readily embraced, the long term (potential) profitability of (either) strategic email marketing, (and or) strategic mobile marketing!

Not only are you potentially leaving a ton of unclaimed (long term) profits on the table! But (guess what else?)

Your major competitors are busily picking up the slack, and gladly and aggressively taking advantage of your indifference to it!

Now with that said.

Let’s now focus on these two remaining, “must know” , basic email marketing fundamental concepts, shall we?

And remember, (this post) is merely scratching the surface of this all important issue! So don’t be shy about doing far more in depth research! 😎

Some Type Of Long Term Strategic Email Marketing Is Simply A Must!

4.) Must know email marketing term # four: Ladies & gentlemen, this first (must know) know email marketing term/concept, (thank goodness), is pretty straight forward (and therefore) fairly easily to calculate!

The concept is often referred to as your “open rate.” Now even though we did previously cover, “what” your actual email open rate is,(and how to) properly calculate it, in part one of this series, (what) we didn’t get a chance to cover previously was, “what” are the two basic types of open rates are, and “how to” properly calculate them.(So let’s quickly do that now!)

Ever Notice How Extremely Savvy Entrepreneurs Are Usually Pretty  Solid When It Comes To Understanding And Consistently Implementing The Proven Fundamentals!

Okay, as you discovered previously in part one: let’s say (strictly) for the sake of illustration purposes only.

You send an email message to 100 subscribers, and 22  (or X number) of them, click your link, and (at least) open your email.

Now to this point, all they’ve done is open your email, they haven’t actually purchased anything yet!

Anyway, if you divide your “unique open” number (22)/ by your total number of email subscribers on that particular list , (100) and then multiply your results by 100, you should get an open rate of 22%.(22/100= .22% x 100 = 22%.)

And that’s pretty straight forward, right?

Give Strategic Email Marketing A Chance To Create Some Major Leverage In Your Business!

Note: This exact same concept would apply, if you were mailing an offline snail mail campaign.  And you mailed 100 of them, and 22 recipients (either) called your toll free number, or they rushed over to your mobile responsive WordPress website, in order to get your “VIP new customer only discount coupon of X % off!

You’d have an open, (and or) response rate of 22%.

But entrepreneur, it’s this next, not so straight forward way of calculating your “open rate” calculation , that has (and will) unfortunately, continue to deal some aspiring online marketers the short end of the stick, simply because they’re not totally aware of “how” certain calculations are actually made.

(Luckily, that won’t be the case with you!)

In Order To Make Your Email Marketing Strategies Work!(You’ve Gotta Have Accurate Data To Measure!)

And that brings us to this next, sometime confusing, “must know” email marketing term and calculation.

5.)  Must know email marketing term # five: Entrepreneur, (for the life of me), I don’t know “why” some of the top, paid opt in email service providers, actually calculate their “open rates”, the following-slightly confusing- way.

For ease of calculations, let’s use the exact same numbers. So you emailed 100 subscribers, and the same 22 people (as last time), opened your email.Only this time, one of those 22 subscribers, (for whatever reasons), opens your email, an additional seven times!

As odd as this may seem, some paid email service providers, will include that inflated number in their original gross “open rate” numbers and therefore claim, your “open rate” is a misleading 29%!Strange,right?

And this particular way of calculating your “open rate” is: “total opens/total number of subscribers.” Just completely understand, under this form of calculating your “open rate”, your true “unique opens” was only 22%, not the 29% figure  they’re reporting!

Aweber, my paid email autoresponder service of choice, (thank goodness) currently uses the much preferred, “unique opens/total number of subscribers” method!

(Number four.) And make darn sure before you pay for any email service provider, you know which particular method they use!

Your Email Marketing Strategies Can Either Help Boost Your Long Term Profits!(Or Help Sabotage Them!)

And finally, let’s take you just beyond the email marketing basics. Now you’re going to discover “how” to calculate, each individual email’s “Click Through Rate”(CTR .)

6.) Bonus item: Must know email marketing term # six: This next “must know” basic email marketing basic concept, is often referred to as your email’s “click through rate.” Or your individual email campaign’s (CTR) number(s.)So as you recall, 22 subscribers originally opened your email.

Now your email’s “CTR” , tells you “how” many of your subscribers, actually clicked on your link, and were taken to some specific website.

Whether it’s an actual page on your site, or if it’s an affiliate link, to some product and or service, you’re currently promoting.

This (slightly) more advanced calculation can get a little bit tricky, so please pay close attention!

Are You Finally Starting To Feel A Little More Comfortable About The Long Term Marketing Possibilities Of Strategic Email Marketing!

So of the 22 subscribers that actually opened your email, let’s say 9 of them, actually clicked on your link.In order to find this particular emails “CTR”, just divide 9/22 and multiply that result by 100.

(And remember, they still haven’t bought anything yet!)

Which means your “CTR” (for this particular) email message only, is a very respectable 40%!( 9/22 = .40 x 100 = 40%.)

And there you have it ladies & gentlemen, the five (plus) “must know” email marketing basics concepts, you definitely gotta know. Any questions?
