Five Basic Email Marketing Terms All Newbie Marketers Need To Know!

Just out of curiosity, have you heard (or seen) the phrase, that email marketing results, (meaning) some business owner/entrepreneurs, have experienced (ROI’s) Return On Investment, as high as 43%!

(And just between you and me!That is definitely getting it done!Don’t you agree?)

Anyway,for every (actual) dollar they invest in (some) real form of  ongoing, (business) email marketing strategies and or tactics etc.

Those business owners (and or) service providers at the very top of the food chain, are absolutely crushing it!

With regards to their return on investment, using tried and true email marketing methods and or tactics.

However, for the rest of us mere mortals, (and yours truly) definitely being included in the pack!

It’s best that we focus on consistently attempting, to generate far more realistic email marketing results, of somewhere just south of those type of numbers!

Otherwise you/we run the serious risk, of setting ourselves up for some false expectations!Don’t you agree?

So What Are These Five Basic Email Marketing Terms All Newbie Online Marketers Definitely Need To Know?

(Otherwise You May Be Seriously Putting A Segment Of Your Business At Risk!)

First of all, for you far more experienced, (non) wet behind the ears, serious online marketers, (even) if you too happen to be a newbie.

Properly defining the following five, basic email marketing terms, may  seem like a slap in the face, and a waste of your extremely valuable time!(And for that, please accept my heart felt apologies!)

However, due to the fact, there is a growing contingency of wannabe online marketers, (that) truth told, have no real clue whatsoever about basic terminology, and or basic online marketing fundamentals.

It’s best (from) time to time, to simply re-visit the basics!And if you’re an aspiring online newbie marketer, you simply gotta know and understand, some (seemingly) all to basic email marketing terms, before you attempt to get too involved, that way you don’t compound your problems and (extend) your learning curve!

Entrepreneur Before You Can Attempt To Understand And Utilize Some More Of The Advanced Email Marketing Strategies!

(You Gotta Understand Some Basic Email Marketing Fundamentals First!)

Don’t you agree? With that said, and (just as) a quick side note! Ladies & gentlemen, when I first started studying (what some) casual observers, often referred to as (so called) “Creative -Real Estate- Financing.”

(AKA) fancy “Nothing Down” investment techniques and or strategies etc. I once had an instructor offer this train of thought.

He  basically observed, that one of the main reasons, that the average person, continually struggled to understand, (so called) “Creative Financing” techniques, was because in reality, they never (ever) totally understood  basic “Real Estate” financing techniques to begin with! 😎

So by attempting to start with the more advanced stuff, they were pretty much lost, from the outset!

Entrepreneur Before You Invest A Dime In Any Paid Email Marketing Services!(Make Darn Sure You At Least Understand The Basics!

So here are five (pretty) basic, email marketing terms (and or) concepts, every serious online newbie marketer, definitely needs to know, before you spend a dime, on any type of paid opt in email service provider! Otherwise, your money is definitely at risk!

(Important note! BTW, entrepreneur, make sure you delve even deeper, by doing some (much needed) additional research okay?

So you get a well rounded functional understanding, of these “must know” email marketing fundamentals!

1.) Must know email marketing term # one: In the interest of space, (entrepreneur) especially you newbies in the house!Whenever more experienced online marketers refer to any type of paid, email service providers.

They will typically just lump them into one large group, and refer to them all, (irregardless) of their individual prices, benefits and features etc.

And they will just say (ESP’s), okay? But just know (going forward) the (ESP”s) is short for email mail service providers.

2.) Must know email marketing term # two: Next, when referring to some of your email marketing analytic’s, that you’ll definitely get all too familiar with.

You will eventually come across the “insider term”, bounce rate. And basically what this term reveals is this.

Whenever a visitor, (especially) a first time visitor lands on any particular page on your (hopefully) mobile response WordPress website and or blog etc.

And they don’t go any deeper into your site and simply leave!That process is referred to as your sites (overall) bounce rate.

Don’t Under Estimate The Value Of Learning And Understanding The Email Marketing Basics!

 (Again, while the entire calculation process, is a little more involved than what you’re reading here, just be aware of the basic fundamental concept! 

So you at least have a general idea of what’s being discussed! The bottom line (for you) and I is this.

You definitely wanna keep your bounce rate as low as possible, by making the content on your site, (targeted) and engaging enough, that your visitors, will want to explore than the initial page they land on, before moving on!

You Definitely Won’t See And Or Experience High Email Marketing Returns On Your Investment Until You At Least Have A Thorough Understanding Of The Basics!

3.) Must know email marketing term # three: You’re going to be hearing, (and or) reading an awful lot about, a particular sites(overall) opt in rate. 

Now if you’re currently marketing with a regular, mobile responsive WordPress blog of some kind, this particular figure, will definitely be a little harder to track, (simply) because on your blog, (and) your regular type of sales orientated website.

Even if your side bar has some way of capturing your online visitors email addresses/online contact information.

Because they also have so many other options to choose from on your site, (such as) read a blog post and or watch a video etc; it’s hard to pinpoint what made them actually join (opt in) to your list!

If You Don’t Totally Understand Email Marketing Terminology Your Online Business Is Definitely At Risk!

So (in a sweeping) general sense, (going forward), whenever you hear (and or) see any references, to any so called “opt in email” rates.

Just pretend they only apply to the visitors, (whether) they’re first time and or repeat visitors etc.And let’s also just presume, these visitors are only viewing a special (webpage) on your site and or blog, that’s often referred to as (either) a “lead capture page”,  and or a “squeeze page.”

Because it’s only designed to accomplish one goal, and one goal only!And that is, to convince your visitors to provide their most accurate contact info, and join your list!

Entrepreneur If You’re Confused About Basic Email Marketing Fundamentals!

(There’s A Very Good Chance You’re Confused About Some Other Basic Online Marketing Fundamentals As Well!)

That said, here are your (hypothetical) numbers, for such a page. (You can check out a real life example of my current lead capture/squeeze page at the link: youcanmarketonlinenow.) And join if you readily see the benefits of doing so! 😎

Anyway, let’s say (you and I) track the next 100 unique visitors to my lead capture page, and out of the 100, 22 of them join (opt into) my or your list!Yippie!

For that particular campaign, (whether) it was free or not.My opt in rate (for that) particular campaign only!) was a very respectable 22%!

(Simply divide your total number of individual opt ins, by your total number of unique visitors, and then multiply your results by 100.)

Understanding Basic Email Marketing Basics Is Simply A Must!

Ex: 22 visitors-first time and or otherwise- divided 100 total visitors measured, equals .22 percent, multiplied by 100 = 22%.)

Now in the entrance of space and so that we can delve even deeper into this incredibly important, but truly basic subject!

  1. Great points Mark, and this stuff can’t be said enough. Just yesterday I was playing catch up in LinkedIn groups and came across a thread where people were discussing “mobile responsive” and I was stunned to see the level of confusion – but then I bounced over to Facebook groups and a “I threw up a blog but have no traffic, what now?” plea from a first time blogger. My heart really goes out to those just starting out because I remember how confusing and stressful it all was! Thanks for the inspiration and great advice.

      And I couldn’t agree more! But what’s really sad is,
      unfortunately, there are a ton of would be predators, that
      can’t wait to feast on these type of low skilled, misinformed newbies!

      And I’m definitely in your camp too! There are literally tons
      of mis- or severely under educated newbies, that are
      about to get one of these most costly mis-educations,
      they’ve ever had!
